Looking around, I realized this was actually a tech conference.

“Are you free tonight?” Nathan asked in a low voice, worried he was being too abrupt with the sudden invitation.

“Yeah, I am,” I answered without thinking. “It’s always good to get out and experience more.”

Nathan couldn’t hide his happiness, a smile spreading across his face and his eyes lighting up.

    4940

After we finished eating, Nathan gave me a ride back to campus. Though my schedule wasn’t packed, I had to sign in for every ss to earn my certificate, so I made sure to really focus during lectures.

At 5:30 PM, after ss ended, I made my way out of campus with a few other students, talking andughing together.

Just as we reached the front gate, I saw Nathan waiting under a tree. I waved goodbye to the others and headed over to

    him.

His eyes crinkled with a smile when he saw me clutching my books. “Look at you, totally rocking the college student vibe.”

I blinked, then shot him a mock re. “Since when are college students twenty–seven?”

Nathan just looked at me, his gaze steady. “Your face is way too good at fooling people.”

“I’ll take that as apliment,” I said, grinning.

Nathan helped me into the car, then told the driver in Englysian where to go.

I caught the name of our destination–a custom boutique.,

I turned to look at him.

Nathan shrugged. “Oh, right, I forgot your Englysian has improved.”

“Why are we going there?” I asked.

“Obviously, we’re getting some formal outfits for the event,” Nathan replied.

I raised an eyebrow. “Isn’t that gonna be expensive?”

    Custom stuff is never cheap.

Nathan just shrugged. “Money’s the least of my worries. What really concerns me is you might bail on me.”

I bit my lip, trying not tough. “Alright, boss, take me with you.”

When we arrived at the couture boutique, Nathan chatted with the salesperson for a bit, and soon enough, a form–fitting beige gown with sparkling crystals was brought out for me. The salesperson invited me to try it on.

I stared at the dazzling dress, then nced back at Nathan. “You didn’t have this all nned out alreadyi, /idid you?”

    vved,

Nathan looked a little embarrassed, his cheeks tinged pink. “Yeah, I set it up ahead of time. Just try it on and see if you like

    it.”

I smiled softly. “Of course I do, it’s gorgeous.”

I stepped into the fitting room and slipped on the dress. It hugged my figure perfectly, with a sliver of pale skin showing bat /bthe back, while the neckline in front was totally covered–not even a hint of cleavage.

1 almostughed. Honestly, my front is what I’m most confident about, but Nathan had picked a dress that kept things understated, leaving everything to the imagination and only showing a little bit of my back.

Guys think they’re being clever, but women always see right through them.

But either way, Nathan had nned everything out, and the dress fit me like a glove.

While a stylist worked on my makeup and overall look, Nathan slipped into his custom–tailored suit and sat waiting for me on a nearby couch.

We looked just like a couple about to get married, and this scene pulled me back to an old memory.

When I married Jared, it was also in a high–end bridal boutique. He sat on the couch in a ck suit, reading a magazine, asionally ncing at me as I had my makeup done. Our eyes would meet in the mirror.

Back then, I was shy, sweet, and full of hope for the future.

But now, I just felt calm–those dreams were long gone.

Nathan was gazing at me,pletely spaced out.

The stylist finished pinning up my hair, and I blinked in surprise as she opened a sleek square box, taking out a pair of earrings and a bracelet–she gently fastened the earrings on my ears, then slipped the bracelet onto my wrist.

When it came to the ne, she smiled and said, “It’ll feel more special if your man puts it on for you.”

I turned to Nathan, realizing he’d actually gone all out and prepared an entire jewelry set just for me. Nathan stood up and walked over, smiling at me. “Let me help you with that.”
