I couldn’t help but think Edward had a real knack for winning women over. He always seemed to know exactly what I wanted and would make it appear, just when I needed it, without saying a word.
Jared, on the other hand, was generous with money but had no idea what I liked. He didn’t even know what kind of makeup I used every day. To him, just wearing lipstick meant I was all dolled up.
It’s only when youpare that you feel let down.
I suddenly realized with a jolt–‘Crap, I’m actuallyparing my ex–husband to Edward, noticing all the ways Edward is better, bit by bit,‘ I thought.
I pressed my hand to my chest, my heart pounding like crazy.
‘Crap, I’m actually catching feelings,‘ I thought to myself.
After I finished breakfast, Edward showed up, bringing the meds I needed.
“I just had a cross–border meeting that went on for over two hours,” he exined as he walked in.
I knew he was always busy, with a million things to handle every day.
“Oh, it’s fine. Go ahead, take care of your stuff,” I said. I’d already eaten, done my makeup, and slipped into the gorgeous outfit he picked out for me–the colors of the top and jacket went together beautifully.
Edward gave me a once–over and smiled. “So, do you like what you’re wearing?”
“I like it. Bet it wasn’t cheap,” I replied.
He looked at me with a yful glint in his eye. “It’s a custom piece from one of my women’s brands. They don’t sell it to the public. If you like this look, I’ll have them make you custom pieces for spring, summer, fall, and winter.”
I couldn’t believe the kind of treatment I was getting.
“So these cosmetics–are they from your own brands too?” I asked, genuinely surprised.
Edward grinned, “Yeah, I’ve got a stake in all of them.”
I just went, “Oh,” thinking to myself, ‘Looks like I’ll never have to worry about running out of anything with Edward
around.
“These are your meds for this morning,” Edward said gently, opening his palm to reveal a small pouch with your medicine inside.
“Alright!” I answered. The fever was gone now–after the shot and the pills, I really did feel a lot better.
I picked up a ss of water, turned my back to him, and swallowed the pills.
Edward teased, “Honestly, I thought you’d want me to get you some candy to help swallow it. Didn’t think you’d just take it straight.”

I froze for a second, thinking, ‘Wait, could I actually ask him for candy?‘
“I’m not a little kid,” I said.

Edward just gave me that soft, doting look. “If you ever feel like being a kid, go for it. Being a grown–up is overrated anyway.”
“But you need someone to dote on you for that,” I said quietly. “Kids without anyone to shelter them just have to tough it
out in the rain.”
Edward didn’t say a word, just kept watching me with that gentle, lingering smile.
Suddenly, it hit me–what I’d said sounded like a hint.
My cheeks went red in an instant, and I quickly looked away from his burning gaze.
Noticing my reaction, Edward let out a soft chuckle. “How about I take you out for a bit? You shouldn’t just stay cooped up

“Where to?” I asked.
“I’ve got a private jet. If we’ve got the time, we can go anywhere you want,” Edward said, not bragging–just matter–of–fact.
I was floored, A private jet? That was next–level luxury–I’d never even met anyone who owned one.
“Nah, I only get one day off, and I’m still feeling a little woozy,” I said. As tempting as his offer was, I just couldn’t say yes.
“Alright, then let’s just walk around nearby. Oh, and there’s a royal tennis match this afternoon–want to go check it out?” Edward said suddenly.
I was stunned. I’d always heard that royal tennis matches in the United Kingdom were strictly for the upper crust–normal people couldn’t even get in, and iyou /ihad ito /ifollow some super fancy dress code.
“Wait, can I actually go?” I asked.
Edward nodded. “I’ll take youb./b”
