After Betrayal: Lightning Marriage to Mr. Enigmatic
Chapter 223: Moonlight Jewelry, It’s Yours
CHAPTER 223: CHAPTER 223: MOONLIGHT JEWELRY, IT’S YOURS
Isabella Weaver was too shocked to speak.
She felt like something was not right, but she couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was wrong.
"Let’s discuss these things later. You should see a doctor first!"
She hadn’t expected the CEO’s health to be so poor; seeing her injury had actually made him vomit blood.
Or perhaps, her mother’s friend cared more about her than she had imagined?
"My health is like this now, seeing a doctor won’t help. Just talk to me; you’ve grown up so much, you really resemble your mother."
Isabella hesitantly glanced at the secretary, who gently shook her head, indicating there was no need to persuade him further.
So Isabella obediently stayed by the CEO’s side and softly spoke: "No one has ever mentioned her in front of me. I’ve only seen her photos; I’m not as beautiful as she was."
"Who said that? You’re prettier than she was!"
"Were you good friends with my mother?"
"Sort of!" The CEO held Isabella’s hand tightly and wouldn’t let go. "Have you been doing well all these years? Is your father... treating you well?"
Isabella dared not speak the truth and upset him further, so she just nodded: "He’s been fine."
"That’s good. I remember when you were born, he was so happy and cherished you. Whenever you cried, he was more anxious than anyone."
Isabella was taken aback. Christopher Weaver once adored her?
She had thought that from the moment she was born, Christopher Weaver had wanted to choke her.
"I heard you got married? How come you got married so young? Did your family force you?"
"No."
"Bring him to meet me sometime; let me judge his character for you."
"He’s quite nice."
"Did you graduate from university this year? Did you start school early?"
"Graduating this year. I didn’t start early but skipped grades."
The CEO seemed very pleased: "My... good friend’s daughter, truly smart! Outstanding talent!"
Isabella smiled and said nothing.
She didn’t skip grades because she was smart; Christopher Weaver had forced her to skip grades so she wouldn’t learn systematically.
She was the youngest in the entire philosophy department.
Fortunately, it was philosophy. If Christopher Weaver had enrolled her in mathematics or physics, she might have completely struggled to keep up.
They chatted for a while; most of the time, it was the CEO asking and Isabella answering, only sharing good news to avoid making him sad.
Half an hour later, the CEO was severely fatigued and couldn’t stay seated.
The secretary immediately made a phone call, and a medical team quickly arrived to provide treatment.
Accompanying the medical team was Cherry Lewis.
As soon as she saw the CEO bedridden, she started crying: "Godmother, why did you insist on coming out when your health is bad? If something happens to you, what will I do? What will happen to Moonlight?"
She cried sincerely, calling out "Godmother" again and again, appearing very close.
Isabella stood on the outskirts of the medical team, watching all this, feeling somewhat redundant.
She was about to leave when she heard the CEO weakly calling her: "Isabella, come here."
Cherry’s sobbing paused, and she turned to look at Isabella: "Why are you just standing there? Come over quickly!"
Isabella walked forward: "CEO."
"I might not make it through tonight. Now that Cherry is here, let’s transfer the power. Cherry, from now on, Isabella will be the CEO of Moonlight Jewelry. My will is already written; you have more experience, so assist her well, help her get familiar with the company quickly."
Cherry’s face suddenly changed drastically!
