After Betrayal: Lightning Marriage to Mr. Enigmatic
Chapter 472: You, a bodyguard, how much money could you possibly have?
CHAPTER 472: CHAPTER 472: YOU, A BODYGUARD, HOW MUCH MONEY COULD YOU POSSIBLY HAVE?
It’s just that Connor usually keeps a low profile and lives simply, so no one knows he has so much money.
"Is Cora Ginger blind? She won’t have a man as good as you, but goes for some moneyed fool!"
Connor shook his head, "This happened very suddenly, without any sign. Cora was fine just a few days ago, and then suddenly she’s getting married. I suspect her family might be forcing her."
Johan Niles froze for a moment.
Natalie Niles!
It’s her!
"Connor, I have something to tell you, but don’t hit me after you hear it."
"You say it first, and I’ll decide if you deserve a beating based on what you say."
"Cora broke up with you all of a sudden, maybe it’s related to my sister. She said... she fancies you and mentioned you two would break up sooner or later."
Connor was astonished, "Impossible, isn’t your sister into Young Master?"
"I asked her, and she said she doesn’t like him. She likes someone who can beat her, thinks you’re pretty good."
Connor still didn’t believe it, suspecting Natalie was just diverting attention from the real issue.
However, Cora suddenly wanting to get married at least gives a clue!
"Let’s go, we need to visit the Ginger Family! I need to ask Cora myself!"
"If we just go like this, will her parents even let us in?"
"If they don’t let us in, can’t we use the window?"
"I’m not as nimble as you!"
"That’s true, you’re injured. You should go to the hospital first, I’ll go ask her myself."
Johan Niles shook his head, "No, I can’t leave. I’ll wait here for you. I need to know whether my sister is involved in this or not."
Connor initially thought his good buddy was worried about him but realized Johan actually wanted to know if his sister was the villain.
He glared at Johan Niles angrily, then turned around and left.
The Ginger Family’s house is deep within a cluster of chaotic old buildings. Connor had never been there before and had to ask several people for directions to find it.
The place was dilapidated, and the people passing through looked disheveled.
Connor wore a dark blue casual outfit, semi-new hiking shoes, his short hair neat, his spirits clean, and he held a smartphone worth thousands of dollars, making him appear respectable in this area.
Cora Ginger’s home was on the sixth floor, at the top of the building. He observed for a while, roughly pinpointing Cora’s room, and climbed up.
The moment he jumped in through the window, Cora Ginger was startled and instinctively wanted to call for someone.
Connor quickly covered her mouth with his hand and pulled her into his arms, "It’s me, don’t scream."
Cora Ginger’s eyes instantly reddened.
She removed Connor’s hand, pushed him away, and backed up two steps, "I’m sorry."
"I don’t want to hear that."
Connor stepped forward, hugging her again, "I want you to tell me that it’s your family forcing you, so I can take you away!"
Cora Ginger smiled, "Why would that be? I’m just a very material person. I like money. Whoever has money, I’ll marry them. No one’s forcing me, it’s my own choice."
"I don’t believe it."
Connor’s voice was gentle, not angry at all, "If you liked money so much, why have you never asked me for any?"
"Because you don’t have much money. Even if I asked, I wouldn’t get much."
"I do have money, Cora, enough for you."
"You’re a bodyguard, what kind of money can you have? Isn’t your money all given by Young Master Hunter? He might give you a villa, but certainly not the whole company. The person I’m marrying owns his own big company and has lots of money."
Connor’s body went rigid, and he let go of Cora Ginger, looking at her in disbelief, "Is that really what you think of me?"
