Cora Ginger changed her clothes and followed Peter Barnes downstairs.

Her usual lively and spirited demeanor was completely gone. With her head down, she stepped down the stairs like a puppet.

When she reached the first floor, she was so absent-minded that she missed the last step and stumbled forward.

Peter Barnes caught her in one hand and, taking advantage of the situation, pulled her into his embrace.

He restrained his restlessness, saying elegantly and gently, "How can you be so careless? If you fall, I’ll be heartbroken."

Cora Ginger forced a fake smile, "Thank you. If it weren’t for you, I would have fallen badly."

"Do you need to be so courteous with me?"

He held Cora Ginger’s hand, leading her out of the building and into his Mercedes.

In the past, Cora Ginger would have wanted nothing more than to sit in a Mercedes with a big boss to foster a relationship; it was the life she dreamed of.

But now, she couldn’t bring herself to feel happy, a dull pain lingered in her heart.

Her phone chimed, and she thought it was Connor, so she quickly picked it up to check.

However, it wasn’t Connor; it was another million in her account!

She turned to look at Peter Barnes, her expression complex.

"Cora, you should be a bit happier. What I value in you is your energy and your smile. Seeing you frowning every day unpleasantly affects me."

Cora Ginger quickly apologized, "I’m sorry, Boss Barnes, I..."

"Still calling me Boss Barnes?"

"Peter..."

"Didn’t I ask you to call me husband?"

"But..."

"Forget it, I won’t force you. I just want you to be happy. Here’s another million, spend it, and if it’s not enough, ask me for more."

Cora Ginger looked at him, dazed.

It was the first time someone pampered her like this.

Peter Barnes gave her a million each day, and today he’d given her four million.

She had never owned so much money!

She loved money! Really loved it!

When she worked at the Royalton Club, she dreamed of finding such a big boss, marrying him, and becoming a wealthy lady.

Now, her dream had come true so easily!

"If you’re happy, then show a smile. If you keep a cold face, I feel like I owe you money."

Cora Ginger forced herself to reveal a bright smile.

Peter Barnes pinched her cheek, "That’s it! You look the best when you smile!"

He wanted to hug Cora Ginger again, but the driver executed an abrupt brake, causing him to crash into the front seat.

He roared furiously, "How are you driving!"

"President Barnes, someone’s blocking the car!"

The moment the driver finished speaking, the window of the Mercedes was shattered!

"Cora, come out! Come with me!"

Connor reached into the car, unlocked the door, opened it, and stretched his hand toward Cora Ginger.

As Cora Ginger was about to move, she was tugged back by Peter Barnes beside her, "Cora, aren’t you going to pick out a wedding dress with me?"

Cora Ginger froze, opened her mouth, but no words came out.

Connor’s fury boiled over, "You’re going with him to pick out a wedding dress? Isn’t your issue that you need money? I’ve got it! Get out of the car!"

Cora Ginger didn’t move, but Peter Barnes got out of the car.

He wore an amicable face, "This must be Master Connor? It’s rumored you’re the life-and-death brother of Young Master Hunter, nice to meet you!"

"Get lost! If you dare touch Cora Ginger again, I’ll cut off your hand!"

Connor, seeing Cora Ginger unmoving, directly lifted her out of the car, placed her in his, and drove away.

Peter Barnes wasn’t angered at all. He took out his phone and called Natalie Niles, "Miss Niles, she’s been taken away. It’s your turn to handle this!"
