CHAPTER 250: CHAPTER 250: PLAYING DUMB AND PRETENDING TO BE INSANE

Bian Yue couldn’t describe the feelings in her heart. As she met Shen Jinci’s gaze, she eventually, helplessly admitted defeat after a long while.

She shrugged her shoulders with a smile and said, "Well... okay then."

When the two of them arrived at Bian Shu’s residence, Bian Shu was sitting on the bed, her face calm and gentle.

The attending physician looked embarrassed, and awkwardly said to the hurriedly arrived Bian Yue and Shen Jinci, "I don’t know what happened, but as soon as I called Miss Bian, she calmed down."

Shen Jinci nodded, signaling the attending physician to leave first.

The room was silent. Bian Yue walked up to Bian Shu, sat down, and gently held her hand, "Sister... Do you need something from me?"

Bian Shu’s eyes moved, then her gaze settled on Bian Yue, with a hint of anger, she coldly said, "You still know to come and see me? I thought you had forgotten that you even had a sister like me!"

After Bian Shu finished speaking, she angrily pulled her hand away from Bian Yue and turned her face away.

Shen Jinci stood not far away, with a slightly cold expression.

Bian Yue’s face showed a flicker of panic, staring at her hand that Bian Shu had pulled away, looking bewildered.

Then, she collected her thoughts and softly explained, "I’ve been indeed busy recently and neglected you. It won’t happen again. I will visit you regularly, sister, you must take good care of yourself. I’m waiting for you to recover."

"Don’t say such things, you actually wish I were dead, don’t you?" Bian Shu sneered coldly.

"How could you think that?" Bian Yue’s expression was one of shocked helplessness, "How could I possibly wish for anything to happen to you? Sister, I, of course, hope you can recover."

"If you hope I can recover, then why haven’t you taken action against the Li Family!"

Bian Shu glared at Bian Yue viciously, unshaken, her eyes filled with resentment, "You clearly know how much suffering I’ve endured at the hands of Li Tingmo over the years! The life I had in that sanatorium! But now? You still don’t want to take revenge for me!"

"I didn’t..."

"The Li Family is almost bankrupt now, if not for your compassion, why wouldn’t you kick them while they’re down? Bian Yue, you just feel that because Li Sihe is dead, you don’t have the heart to act, right?"

Bian Yue was speechless.

Was it because of the news of Li Sihe’s death that she had hesitated to take action against the Li Family?

Actually, that was not the case.

The upbringing Bian Yue had received since childhood did not allow her to win against the Li Family using such means. If she were to take action against the Li Family now, how would that be different from when the Li Family took advantage of her parents’ death to strike her when she was vulnerable?

Bian Yue could not allow herself to become such a person.

She clenched her fist and looked at Bian Shu’s angry face, speaking in a hoarse voice, "Sister, I have never forgotten the revenge owed to the Bian Family, nor will I forget my responsibility because of Li Sihe’s passing. I just don’t want to in this moment...."

"Enough, I don’t want to hear any more of your excuses!"

Once again, Bian Shu tried to push Bian Yue away, but this time, before she could touch her, Shen Jinci, with an icy demeanor, quickly stepped forward and seized her hand.

Bian Yue looked at Shen Jinci in shock, while Bian Shu’s face was aghast, her expression distorted with pain.

She gritted her teeth and said, "Don’t touch me! Let go!"

"Bian Shu, I have been lenient with you because you are Bian Yue’s sister, and I have tolerated a lot, but don’t push your luck! If you lay a hand on Bian Yue again, I won’t tolerate it."

His voice was indifferent yet contained anger that struck fear into the heart.

Bian Shu’s expression changed, fear creeping in. She looked at Shen Jinci uneasily and after a moment, pursed her lips and said, "What right do you have to talk to me like this!"

Shen Jinci’s demeanour was cold as he let go and pulled Bian Yue who was beside him. He looked down at her, his features softened, and gently said, "Yueyue, let’s go back first. Your sister needs to rest too."

Bian Yue knew that any further argument today would be futile. Her face hesitant, she was about to speak when suddenly, Bian Shu got up and walked towards the door.

Bian Yue, caught off guard, quickly followed her and grabbed her hand, "Sister, where are you going?"

"Since Shen Jinci doesn’t welcome me here, I’ll just leave! I’m going to find my An Shen, I’m going to find him!" Bian Shu’s eyes reddened, her voice hoarse, "An Shen will definitely be waiting for me!"

Bian Yue had a superficial understanding of this person Ji Anshen and was unaware of the past between him and Bian Shu.

However, Bian Yue had not forgotten that the man called ’An Shen’ was already dead.

Therefore, she couldn’t help but cling tighter to Bian Shu’s hand, saying anxiously and helplessly, "Sister, Ji Anshen is already dead! Have you forgotten? He’s dead!"

It was as if Bian Shu had been suddenly struck. Her eyes were lifeless as she stared blankly at Bian Yue in front of her, and the next moment, she slowly collapsed to the ground, murmuring softly, "My An Shen... is he dead?"

Bian Yue knew that Bian Shu was emotionally unstable, that she was ill, so there was more pity in her eyes.

While Shen Jinci watched coldly, after a tense moment between the two, he slowly spoke, "He’s dead. You saw his death with your own eyes, didn’t you?"

Tears welled up in Bian Shu’s eyes as she suddenly turned to look at Shen Jinci, her voice growing hoarse, "What nonsense are you talking about?"

"Bian Shu, stop pretending to be mad and acting silly. I didn’t care before because of Bian Yue, but I warned you before, and still, you keep crossing my lines!" Shen Jinci’s face was expressionless as he stood next to Bian Yue, his voice cold as he let go of their hands.

Shen Jinci pulled a bewildered Bian Yue behind him, looked towards Bian Shu’s pale and bloodless face, and said indifferently, "Do you want me to tell or will you say it yourself?"

"Huh..." Bian Shu let out a bitter laugh, her head lowered, with her hair covering her face, obscuring her emotions. After a long while, she spoke, her voice trembling with suppressed emotion, "You’ve found out everything? Shen Jinci, watching me pretend to be insane here, does it amuse you? Yes! I hate everyone from the Bian Family!"

Bian Yue’s palms turned icy, feeling like she had misheard. Looking at Bian Shu, her eyes were filled with sorrow, "Sister... what are you talking about?"

"I said I hate everyone from the Bian Family! Bian Yue, you live carefree, do you think the whole world is like that? Do you know how much pain I’ve been in since our parents died?"

Bian Shu was almost shouting these words out, along with a surge of tears.

She looked at Bian Yue with eyes full of despair and resignation, "Bian Yue, I never told you about An Shen, did I? Right, you were so young then, you must not know anything."

Bian Shu’s gaze grew distant, seemingly returning to the summer when she was seventeen.

Ji Anshen, in a white shirt, handsome as a carved statue, approached her with a gentle smile from beneath the wisteria-covered arbor, carrying the clear and refreshing scent of sunshine.

Bian Shu’s prose poetry book fell to the ground. As she went to pick it up, she saw the man’s long and beautiful fingers. He said, "Let me help you."
