After Breaking Up, I Married the General
Chapter 152 - 151: In the federation 4
CHAPTER 152: CHAPTER 151: IN THE FEDERATION 4
Each army has different styles of fighting depending on the styles of their generals. So their soldiers also developed different habits because they were already accustomed to it as they had executed a lot of things based on those orders.
So Mervin also couldn’t interfere with it, so he only had to do his best to put them in an area where it suited them best.
Well, at least because the army that came was the 7th army which was already stationed on their west side for two years.
Most of the time the ninth army was the one to bear the brunt of the attacks from the zergs, that’s why those in the east and west region nearby were already accustomed to assisting them when there were a lot of zergs to deal with.
So at least their cooperation in coordination and dispatch of soldiers was already good.
Unlike when they just came two years ago where even such coordination had to be discussed for a long time and a lot of the lieutenant generals were also on the verge of fighting each other because they couldn’t match properly.
This time the 7th army already started traveling after what the ninth army encountered, that’s why they arrived early.
Thankfully, they brought a lot of soldiers with them so it alleviated a bit of the pressure on their soldiers.
Of course, because of what they heard, the 7th army also didn’t bring a lot of their high-level soldiers, but at least there were still enough S-level sentinels after combining the numbers from their ninth army and the seventh army.
Mervin had just finished reporting the situation to the Marshal and he also finished checking all the things that he had to do for the day.
Seeing that it’s already near breakfast, he planned to go and see Lyre.
Every time he had a bit of break time he would go and check on Lyre and accompany him.
Lyre had always been very cheerful, but after learning that Ryzel and Lewis had disappeared in an unstable space channel, Lyre was obviously very down.
He didn’t even eat anything for a day and just drank a nutrient solution that he obviously didn’t like that much.
Fortunately, Lyre perked up a bit on the second day after saying that Ryzel had always been amazing and with Lewis by his side they would probably try to live well no matter where they were.
Lyre even said that even if they were captured by evil people, Ryzel would probably still be able to find a way to live well because he had always been intelligent.
So, even though Lyre was obviously still worried about Ryzel and Layton, he went back to his work.
Because the number of times the lower-level sentinels were on the battlefield had increased, the jobs of the guides had also increased as they needed to calm a lot of pollutants from those sentinels.
And other sentinels who had very abundant pollutants in their mental sea also had to be helped by the guides.
They couldn’t clean up all the pollutants in the sentinels’ mental sea as the number of sentinels that needed it was a lot.
So the guides could only remove some pollutants as they had to reserve their mental power to remove pollutants in the mental sea of other sentinels.
Lyre, who was a high-level guide and had a very useful ability, was very much needed by a lot of sentinels because at least the number of sentinels that he could help was a lot.
So, he’s very useful whenever they’re on the battlefield.
Lyre had only come to the ninth army for a short while, but he had already encountered such an intense battlefield, so Mervin couldn’t help but feel sorry for him.
Of course, even if he felt sorry, he wouldn’t let go of Lyre at all.
They got along well when they just met as friends of Lewis and Ryzel, and after the compatibility match and successfully getting married, the two of them got along even better.
Since the two of them were the talkative types, they had already shared a lot with each other so they got to know each other really well in such a short time.
Of course, aside from conversing well, they’re also very compatible in bed and were more vocal about their desires as both were very bold people.
Unfortunately, because of their busyness and the situation they were in, both of them didn’t have enough time and they were also not in the mood to do anything at all.
They already had a good understanding of what each other wanted even though they only got to live with each other for a short time.
So he also knew that even though Lyre had perked up in just a day, he was still too worried about Ryzel as they hadn’t received any news about them yet.
He could also see that Lyre’s mood was sinking further as the days passed and they still hadn’t heard any news from the two yet.
In fact, yesterday, every time he went to see Lyre, the first or second question of Lyre was always to ask if he had any news of Ryzel and Lewis yet.
Mervin was also very eager to have news about them; unfortunately, until now he still hadn’t received anything at all.
So he could only comfort Lyre and ask him to rest more because he had been very tired and couldn’t even sleep properly.
Mervin might be okay even if he hadn’t slept for five days, but Lyre is a guide with a weak physique compared to sentinels, so Lyre needed to rest more.
Unfortunately, Mervin saw that Lyre couldn’t sleep well even if he tried, so he would often wake up early to go and help the sentinels.
Lyre’s ability to appease a lot of sentinels was getting better and better as he had a lot of practice because of the ongoing battle, and especially in the past few days where a lot of sentinels with lower levels needed it.
Knowing that Lyre would also be busy again later, Mervin prepared to go and invite Lyre for breakfast.
But before he could even stand up to go, someone came into his office.
"I was just planning to go and see you. Did you have your breakfast already?" Mervin said while standing up to meet Lyre who had just entered his office.
"No, but I brought our breakfast. I know you haven’t eaten yet either."
Mervin chuckled a bit then kissed Lyre’s forehead and the corner of his lips before going to the lounge with Lyre.
"How’s your sleep this time? Did you manage to rest a little more?"
"It’s better than yesterday. Instead of asking me, you should rest a bit too. I know you’ve been very busy, but you can at least rest for an hour," Lyre said while bringing out the food that he brought with him.
"Don’t worry, even if I don’t rest for a few more days, I can still function very well," Mervin said and then hugged Lyre to sit down with him.
"But don’t blame me for not wanting you later if your face remains that haggard after a few more days," Lyre said while pointing at his face.
"Hey! That’s going overboard. Don’t worry, my face will certainly improve more after a few days. Don’t even think of getting away from me," Mervin said, then pulled Lyre onto his lap to hug him tighter.
Mervin knew that Lyre just said it to him so that he could take care of himself more.
But Mervin still didn’t forget that he won Lyre over mainly because of his appearance which was better than the other candidates as his partner.
He learned about it from Lewis, which was clearly said by Ryzel. When they had just gotten married, he also asked Lyre about it.
And Lyre directly admitted that it was indeed true. Lyre even jokingly said that he should take care of himself better to maintain his good looks and not let it fade away or he might not want him anymore.
Even though Lyre was saying it in a teasing manner, Mervin still sensed that his joke contained some truth, so he reminded himself that for a harmonious married life he would take care of his looks a bit more.
So, when sparring with others, especially Lewis, he would always ask them not to target his face at all.
The others obviously knew the cause, so they often complied, but they became even more ruthless when targeting his body.
Fortunately, he is also very good at fighting so he didn’t suffer—of course, it’s a different story when it comes to Lewis.
But at least when sparring with him, he really didn’t target his face at all, which was different from before he married Lyre.
He also knew that Lyre indeed likes handsome and beautiful people, but he also had principles and wouldn’t just leave him because of his face.
