After Breaking Up, I Married the General
Chapter 21 - 20: Gift
CHAPTER 21: CHAPTER 20: GIFT
"Don’t be surprised; you should get used to it from now on," Layton Lewis said, still with a slight smile on his lips.
Ryzel couldn’t say anything about it because, as a married couple, intimate actions should be very normal, so he just stayed silent.
"I didn’t have time to prepare a birthday gift, so just accept this first as your birthday gift," Layton said while handing a bracelet to Ryzel.
Ryzel’s eyes lit up as soon as he saw the bracelet handed to him.
He knew that it was a mech bracelet as soon as he received it.
"Is this a mech for me?" Ryzel asked just to be sure.
"Yes, it is the guide mech partner of Storm; they were made together.
Even though it doesn’t have a high performance compared to sentinels, it has the highest performance compared to other guide mechs.
Even if it can’t be used for battle, the defense and speed can be considered the highest compared with other guide mechs."
"Really? Thank you very much!" Ryzel smiled happily as soon as he heard that it was his. Even though he was a guide, he still liked mechas very much.
"You don’t need to thank me as long as you like it." Layton Lewis was a bit late in answering because he was dazed by the cheerful smile of Ryzel.
Ryzel was really happy with the gift he received. Compared to the gifts he received from Dwight, which were flowers and chocolates every year, the gift he received from Layton Lewis was better.
The unprepared gift of Layton was still several times better from his point of view.
A guide mech was exceedingly expensive because it had to take care of guides’ fragile physiques.
The materials are all more delicate and intricate to make, making them more difficult to deal with than those utilized to create mechas for ordinary people and sentinels.
That’s why, even though he likes mechs, he can’t afford to buy one because the price is three times more expensive than the price of a battle mech for sentinels.
Ryzel really wanted to try it right away.
As soon as they were outside of the Marriage Registration Center, Ryzel pressed the bracelet to let out the mecha.
Seeing the mecha with a main color of white streamlined with black and gold colors at the edge.
Ryzel can’t help but praise it: "Wow, handsome!"
The mecha wasn’t as big as the common mechas; it was only eight meters tall, and unlike battle mechas, the mecha doesn’t look bulky at all.
Ryzel wanted to try it right away, but he was stopped by Layton, who held his arms.
Ryzel looked at Layton with questioning eyes.
"What is your physique level?"
"My physique level is F. Why?"
"I’m sorry, but you still can’t drive that mecha because the basic requirement for driving that mecha is having a physique level D," Lewis Layton said after he apologized.
"What? How can that be?
Then why did you even give it to me?" Ryzel asked as his excitement was dosed with water.
"I just thought it would be better to give it to you. If you want, we can buy a new mecha for you."
"No need. This mecha is very awesome.
I just need to train physically to reach level D, right? "
"Yes, of course I can help you plan your training routine," Layton Lewis immediately said.
"Then I will just train more. There is no need to buy a new one," Ryzel said.
He knew that a guide mech made at the same time as the famous mech Storm should have a very good performance compared to other guide mechs.
It was also the first gift from Layton Lewis, his husband. Even if Lyre always said that he was slow, he still knew how to cherish gifts given to him. So he didn’t want to buy a new one.
"Okay, just let me know if you want to buy another one."
"Okay," Ryzel agreed.
He pressed the bracelet again to put the mecha back into the storage space.
Ryzel really wanted to try driving a mecha, but his physique is not strong enough.
"Even if you can’t drive it, to guarantee that it is yours; you can imprint that bracelet with your mental power first.
After imprinting it that mech can only be yours and can’t be used by others as it will only read your mental power as the owner," Layton Lewis said to distract Ryzel, not wanting to see him in a low mood.
"How do I imprint it?" Ryzel asked curiously, as he didn’t know much about guide mechs.
"You need to fill it with your mental power until you see the center jewel change color," Layton Lewis said while pointing at the mech bracelet.
"So I just need to direct my mental power to this bracelet?"
"Yes, but remember, it will take quite a lot of mental power to fill this mech bracelet," Layton Lewis reminded.
"It’s okay. I have quite a lot of mental power," Ryzel said confidently.
As a high-level guide, it was a given that Ryzel’s mental power was higher than that of other guides.
He always uses his mental powers when making potions. So he knew he had more mental powers compared to other high-level guides.
He can make a lot of potions without exhausting himself. That’s why he was confident that he could do the imprinting easily.
Ryzel directed his mental powers to the mech bracelet. After five minutes, the center of the mech bracelet changed color to gold.
"Look, it’s done," Ryzel said while showing the mech bracelet to Layton.
"You indeed have a strong mental power; you finished it in just five minutes," Layton Lewis praised.
After the imprinting, Ryzel finally realized that they were still outside the Marriage Registration Center.
"I’m sorry, I was excited to have a guide mech, that’s why I forgot that we are still outside."
Ryzel apologized; he knew that once he set his mind to something, he would become absorbed in it and frequently lose track of time and place.
That’s why Lyre always has to pull him out of his laboratory when he spends too much time inside.
"It’s not a problem; besides, the aircraft we are going to use will only be here two minutes later," Layton Lewis said.
