After Breaking Up, I Married the General
Chapter 33 - 32: Thinking, Part 1
CHAPTER 33: CHAPTER 32: THINKING, PART 1
With his friend’s nature, he thought that if the time of his visit coincided with Layton’s friend Mervin, they should get along well because of their personalities.
After a few minutes of sitting in the dining room, Ryzel walked to the living room and sat relaxedly on the sofa.
Ryzel once again started thinking of his situation. He needed to sort out his thoughts about all the things that had happened to him.
Just yesterday, he was really desperate about his future. He even thought that maybe he was destined to be sent to one of the fringe stars.
Ryzel, with the help of Lyre, looked for high-level sentinels to be his match for a month.
His relatives also put a lot of effort to stop him from looking for high-level sentinels.
He was then repeatedly disappointed with the results of the matching tests.
So, he prepared a lot of potions just to ensure that he could survive even if he was deported to one of the fringe stars.
Ryzel has a large stockpile of potions, so even if he gave away a lot of them, he still has a lot. He developed a variety of potions throughout the course of four years at school.
He almost used all his savings just to stockpile a lot of potions for his own use.
Ryzel made different potions. He made a lot of healing potions for skin injuries and mental injuries, enhancing potions, and, of course, replenishing potions.
He specially made a lot of replenishing potions because, according to the news that they received, guides would continue to work without much rest at the fringe stars.
The main work of guides was of course soothing sentinels using their mental power.
So, what he would be needing if ever he was deported to one of the fringe stars would be replenishing potions to replenish his mental power after using it for soothing sentinels.
The guides deported to the fringe stars still have their own basic rights, but most of the time, they squeeze their mental power dry by soothing a lot of sentinels.
The fringe stars were involved in a continuous battle against the Zergs assault, so deported guides won’t have much rest time.
Especially if there is a large-scale war, the guides at the fringe stars would have too much on their plates because they would be soothing a lot of sentinels who were about to have a mania.
Eventually, the guides’ mental power would be drained, and they would be unable to support them.
With the lack of resources at the fringes, even if there were still some resources, the deported guides won’t have priority for those resources.
Their ending can basically be predicted. Even if they have high mental powers, with the continuous war on the frontlines, they won’t last for long. That’s why a lot of deported guides won’t even survive their ten-year sentences.
A lot of deported guides wouldn’t survive their first year of stay at the fringe stars.
Some died because they couldn’t adapt to their environment, and of course, a lot of them died because of exhaustion.
Most of the deported guides would, at most, survive only for five years with their tenacity. But very few guides reach their tenth year of stay.
This situation serves as a scare for most of the guide’s population.
With those examples, no guide wants to be deported to the frontlines, so basically all guides wouldn’t do anything that would cause them to be deported to the fringe stars.
As guides, they just needed to follow the arrangements of the federation in terms of their marriage arrangements, and then they wouldn’t have any problems.
Guides have a lot more preferential treatment compared to most people because of their low population.
Guides have a lot of rights which would allow them to do whatever they wanted, and they won’t even be punished.
That’s why the only reason for them to actually be deported to one of the fringe stars is when they can’t follow the arrangements of the Federation regarding their marriage.
Guides have more preferential treatment from the people, but the cost of it is their freedom.
Normal citizens are allowed to go wherever they want to with just their ID.
Sentinels are allowed to go to places even though they are very dangerous as long as they have a guarantee that they won’t have a mania.
However, Guides can’t even go somewhere far away without the escort of guards and without a tracking system installed in their light brain.
They understand that it is indeed for protection but because of those their movement was restricted.
They also can’t choose when to marry and some can’t even choose who to marry.
However, they can’t even abandon their responsibilities as they know everyone would be at risk once they don’t do their responsibilities.
Their punishment for not following the Federation’s arrangement is also very heavy which further gives a scare to guides who have rebellious mindset. That’s why all guides would follow the Federation’s arrangement even if they aren’t too willing.
His safety isn’t guaranteed; that’s why Ryzel prepared a lot of potions to ensure his survival.
He even spent most of his money just to buy raw materials to make his potions. Most of the ingredients for making potions are very expensive.
Thankfully, his research results have always been some of the best.
His research has always been helpful, so as soon as it is published and used, even if it is just student research, it still has a copyright and patent fee.
As long as others used his research, either for their own or for commercial use, they would need to pay a patent fee for it.
That’s why he still has money to buy expensive ingredients and use them to make new potions.
Also, as a student at the Capital Star Academy, he could buy the ingredients at their academy with a student prize.
It is one of the perks he likes the most. He was always using a lot of medical materials for his potions so buying those expensive things with a student’s discount was really good.
Most of the prices of the ingredients were half their commercial price outside the academy so Ryzel saved a lot of money as a student.
He made a lot of potions that he thought would be necessary for him to survive.
Ryzel was fully prepared to be immediately deported as soon as 12:00 a.m. struck.
All the potions he prepared, and all his daily necessities were already on his space necklace.
Thankfully, he wasn’t deported last night.
The arrival of Layton Lewis was a great surprise for him.
He didn’t know what life he would have with Layton Lewis, but it wasn’t in his consideration.
He still accepted his offer of marriage as soon as their compatibility result was out.
He didn’t think much of it, as he didn’t have any expectations for his marriage anymore.
He saw the example of his parents’ marriage. His parents were a very loving couple, so he knew how a marriage should be, but unfortunately, when it comes to him, he doesn’t think he has the luck of his parents.
His supposed marriage partner was even conspiring against him.
They got along with each other for many years, but they could still do something so cruel.
So, after that happened, Ryzel’s thoughts on romance, which were already very low, became lower.
Before the sudden break up with Dwight, he still had some expectations about his future, as he saw how loving his parents were.
His parents’ love for one other was amazing, and he couldn’t help but wish for it. So, he had some hopes for his own marriage before Dwight destroyed them all.
He already knew that it is rare for one another to marry solely for love, especially for sentinels and guides who were bound with their responsibilities for humanities survival.
What happened with Dwight made him further realize that maybe in his lifetime he wouldn’t ever experience the love that his parents shared.
His requirements for his partner became very low, especially after not finding someone who was compatible with him for a long time.
Last night, his requirement for a partner actually dropped to the point that as long as the sentinel passed the threshold, he would agree to get married to that person.
So even if it’s not Layton Lewis, as long as a sentinel appeared to be compatible with him, he would have married him last night.
It just seems that his luck was better last night as Layton Lewis appeared and married him.
Ryzel was actually relieved that Layton Lewis was the sentinel he was married to.
At least he still knew something about Layton Lewis.
He met General Layton Lewis when he was still a child. When he was a child, he met Layton Lewis in his father’s army.
Ryzel could still remember that General Layton Lewis, in his youth, was still willing to tell him different stories and also helped him with his homework sometimes.
