After Divorcing the Tycoon, I Married into a Wealthy Family Again
Chapter 100 - 99: Something Went Wrong
CHAPTER 100: CHAPTER 99: SOMETHING WENT WRONG
Ethan Harper had no mind to pay attention to him, his heart anxious and restless.
Florence Fuller would definitely be okay, she definitely would be.
Michael Fuller, Laura Yates, and Clara Fuller arrived later, and Michael saw Luke Gardiner and Ethan Harper standing at the front.
His heart skipped a beat.
He vaguely felt a sense of impending doom.
Clara Fuller was also shocked to see Ethan Harper. How... how did he come from France to here...
And Luke Gardiner was standing with him... and both of them had injuries on their faces...
"Family of the patient." The doctor had just come out and called when the two big men at the front surrounded him.
The people behind also gathered around.
"The patient’s condition is not very optimistic right now..." Seeing these two men with faces bruised, dressed in fine clothes, the doctor vaguely guessed their unusual identity and quickly explained the situation, issuing a critical condition notice.
Laura Yates burst into tears upon hearing the words ’critical condition’.
"Who is the family member of the patient to sign a document?"
"I am her husband," Luke Gardiner spoke, and the doctor handed him the pen.
He signed the paper with trembling hands, "The surgery must succeed!"
Ethan Harper looked at the doctor, speaking heavily, "Please... it must succeed!"
The doctor nodded, "We will do our best!"
The waiting time for the surgery was long and torturous.
When Thomas Jones arrived, he had a serious expression and quickly whispered something in Ethan Harper’s ear.
Luke Gardiner also noticed, staring at him with a heavy gaze.
After Thomas spoke, Ethan Harper glanced at Michael Fuller who was behind.
Luke Gardiner sensed it; now wasn’t the time to dwell on their petty grievances. He said, "Let’s talk in private."
They could be at each other’s throats over Florence Fuller, but if someone truly was the instigator behind her injuries, they could be on the same side.
And it wasn’t hard to imagine; Florence Fuller was dealing with the Fuller Clan, and the next moment, she was involved in a car accident. They would only attribute such a crafted setup to be man-made.
Ethan Harper nodded to Thomas.
Seeing this, Thomas quietly went over to inform Luke Gardiner.
When Florence was waiting at the red light, a medium-sized truck came crashing from a diagonal direction, colliding with another sedan that then struck Florence’s car. Her Ferrari was completely totaled; the rear end even caught fire.
Passersby rescued her before the ambulance arrived, and the scene of the accident was horrific.
Michael Fuller’s heart trembled; when he received the call about Florence’s accident, he almost thought of his son, and he ranted at James Fuller over the phone. At such a juncture, doing this is just inviting suspicion deliberately, isn’t it?
James Fuller was indifferent, "It has nothing to do with me."
He distanced himself cleanly.
Michael couldn’t bother arguing with him more and hurried to the hospital.
The surgery lasted over five hours, and Florence Fuller still needed to be transferred to the ICU for observation today and wasn’t completely out of danger.
It was conceivable that this accident was entirely aimed at taking her life.
At eight in the evening, Charles Shaw, Evelyn Shaw, Christopher Somerset, and Chloe Quinn all arrived.
By midnight, Florence Fuller’s observation period in the ICU ended, she was out of danger, and transferred to a ward.
She was still in a continued state of coma, with tubes on her body and wearing an oxygen mask. The doctor advised against having too many people stay in the ward.
Ethan Harper was unwilling to leave. Luke Gardiner saw he wasn’t moving and opened his mouth to say something but feared starting a fight that would disturb Florence Fuller.
"You all should go back first." Luke Gardiner was a bit surprised by Christopher Somerset’s arrival. But seeing he was always standing beside a woman, he roughly guessed he came accompanying that woman.
And that woman, looking at Florence Fuller lying on the hospital bed, teary-eyed, was probably someone she knew.
Christopher Somerset nodded and left with Evelyn Shaw.
Charles Shaw didn’t know Luke Gardiner, he wanted to stay, but Chloe Quinn tugged his sleeve and shook her head at him.
Charles Shaw sensed something and had no choice but to look at Ethan Harper, "Please let us know when Florence wakes up."
Ethan Harper nodded.
Luke Gardiner glanced at Ethan Harper and then at Charles Shaw, "Who are you to Florence?"
He hadn’t seen Evelyn or Charles Shaw before, nor did he know them.
Charles Shaw didn’t know who Luke Gardiner was either; he retorted, "And who are you?"
Luke Gardiner said, "I’m her husband."
Charles Shaw was speechless.
"He’s Florence’s brother," Ethan Harper said.
Luke Gardiner was slightly shocked, blurting out, "I didn’t know she had a brother."
Charles Shaw was speechless.
Ethan Harper glanced at Luke Gardiner.
Luke Gardiner fell silent for a moment, suddenly remembering Florence Fuller returned to the Gardiner Family at the age of fifteen,
so before that, she lived with the foster family...
"Sorry." Luke Gardiner smiled.
He claimed to be Florence Fuller’s husband, yet Ethan Harper knew more than he did.
Ethan Harper looked at Charles Shaw, "You’ve come all the way from SJ and waited till now; you must be tired, go back first. I’ll call you when Florence wakes up."
Charles Shaw nodded, turned, and left with Chloe Quinn.
Luke Gardiner felt extremely upset with him.
Once everyone left, Ethan Harper’s gaze remained fixed on the unconscious Florence Fuller.
After a long time, he walked over and slowly reached out his hand.
Luke Gardiner voiced to stop him, "What are you doing!"
Ethan Harper paused slightly and withdrew his hand.
"There’s nothing for you here either, you can leave, I’ll watch over her," Luke Gardiner said.
Ethan Harper ignored him.
Luke Gardiner continued, "This is a hospital room, I don’t want to argue with you, you’d better leave quickly."
"You also know this is a hospital room!" Ethan Harper was already impatient: "Can you keep quiet?"
Luke Gardiner gritted his teeth, "You’re watching over my wife now, and I’m still here, aren’t you blatantly disregarding me!"
Ethan Harper turned and left.
Luke Gardiner thought he was leaving, secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Who knew Ethan Harper was only moving a chair from the living room of the ward, placing it beside Florence, and then sitting down, quietly watching her.
Luke Gardiner gritted his teeth, "Harper, you..."
"Don’t argue!" Ethan Harper interrupted him, "If you’re not worried about her, I am!"
"Who said I’m not worried!" Luke Gardiner’s chest tightened, upon receiving the call he almost thought he misheard, rushed here and still couldn’t believe it.
He was even scolding her not long before, how did she end up in the hospital because of a car accident shortly afterwards.
He even suspected if he was the one who angered her.
The ward quieted down.
After a long time, Ethan Harper’s phone beeped once.
He glanced at it, sweeping a look at Luke Gardiner, "Are you planning to just keep sitting here."
"No need for your concern." Luke Gardiner held Florence Fuller’s hand, "I’ve already got someone investigating."
"So what are you planning to do!"
"What else can I do!" Luke Gardiner’s gaze darkened, "The Fuller Family won’t escape this."
"I’ve already got the truck driver detained," Ethan Harper said, "He’s taking all the blame."
"It’s useless for him to take the blame." Luke Gardiner looked at the comatose Florence Fuller, "Only when she wakes up can I rest assured to resolve it."
The ward fell into silence again.
Two men watching over one woman.
