CHAPTER 102: CHAPTER 101: MEMORY EPISODE (2)

In the end, she couldn’t withstand the cold feeling any longer, so she followed Abigail Monrose to get cleaned up.

After taking a hot shower and changing her clothes, Florence Fuller felt much more comfortable.

Abigail came to the guest room with a cup of cold medicine: "You were sneezing in the shower just now. Drink this medicine to prevent catching a cold."

"Thank you, Auntie." Florence held it in her hands, warming her cold fingers.

Her stomach grumbled in response.

"Hungry, are you?" Abigail chuckled gently. "Finish the medicine and come downstairs. It’s just about dinnertime."

The warmth and tenderness Abigail displayed made Florence feel close to her. Initially, she might have been cautious following her, but soon, Florence found herself relaxing naturally. In her presence, she felt at ease, unlike the unease she felt at the Fuller Family home.

After finishing the medicine, she followed Abigail downstairs.

The villa was large, with contrasting styles in decor. This place had an elegant and gentle decoration, unlike the consistent luxury at the Fuller Family home.

Florence was truly hungry at the dining table, eating with earnest focus.

"I don’t mean to pry," Abigail said gently as she noticed her slow down her eating pace. "Why did you run away? Did you have a fight with your family?"

Florence paused and didn’t speak.

Seeing her reluctance to answer, Abigail asked again, "What is your name?"

"Florence."

Florence paused: "My last name was Shaw, but now it’s Fuller."

Fuller Family?

Abigail guessed more or less.

But the Fuller Family girl she had seen didn’t look like Florence.

Now with the last name Fuller.

Abigail was somewhat confused.

Florence finished eating, put down her chopsticks, and said after a moment of silence, "Thank you, Auntie."

Abigail shook her head. Florence’s delicate and lovely appearance was undeniable even at a young age. She smiled, "How old are you?"

"Fifteen."

Only fifteen.

"Auntie," Florence hesitated for a moment and spoke, "Can you take me in? I can help you with chores, like cleaning..."

Abigail found her request strange, "Why?"

"I want to save some money to go back and find my parents," she said in a low voice.

She wanted to take care of Amelia Linney.

She also very much wanted to see Amelia Linney.

"Florence," Abigail said softly, "So you ran away from the Fuller Family, right?"

Florence nodded.

"Auntie can help you change out of your wet clothes and clean up, but I can’t help you leave the Fuller Family." Abigail believed Florence understood the reason.

After all, she was just a stranger who had helped her.

Florence did understand the reason behind it.

Whatever the situation was in the Fuller Family, Abigail didn’t know, but ultimately running away was not a solution.

"Why don’t you stay here tonight, and tomorrow Auntie will take you home. Just talk to your parents openly about what’s going on," Abigail suggested.

Not wanting to cause her any trouble, Florence nodded.

The next day, after breakfast, Abigail asked the property for the Fuller Family’s location and brought Florence to their doorstep.

Michael Fuller was still at home. The butler, seeing a strange woman bring Florence back, hurriedly ushered them in.

Michael Fuller was surprised and turned to Laura Yates, asking, "How did she end up being brought back by someone else? Didn’t you say she was in her room all along?"

Laura was taken aback, "No... I..."

"Mr. Fuller," Abigail looked at the silent Florence, "Is this your child?"

Michael Fuller remembered meeting Abigail at an exclusive auction, where he watched her calmly bid millions for collectibles. The people there, whom he didn’t recognize, treated her with great respect and courtesy.

Her identity was certainly not simple.

But he hadn’t expected her to bring Florence to their door.

"Yes," Michael Fuller took on a fatherly demeanor, "Florence, how did you end up being brought back by Ms. Monrose?"

"I saw her on the way back yesterday, drenched in the rain," Abigail smiled, "so I took her home for the night."

Upon hearing this, Michael glanced at Laura.

Laura forced a smile, "I argued with the child a bit yesterday... Didn’t expect her to be so headstrong..."

"You told me to leave, so I left," Florence interjected.

Michael glanced at Laura again.

Facing Michael’s look, Laura explained to Florence, "You... you just got back... Mom just isn’t sure how to interact with you yet. I spoke too hastily yesterday."

"I thought such a pretty child looked familiar and guessed she might be from the Fuller Family. Turns out I was right," Abigail laughed, "Mrs. Fuller, this child’s as beautiful and sensible as you are, but chasing a child out after an argument isn’t right."

"Perhaps Ms. Monrose is unaware," Michael chimed in, preferring not to air the family disputes, "Florence was actually our child lost for many years. We just found her a few days ago. After so many years away, having her back suddenly, we were excited and thrilled, maybe just not used to interacting yet, which led to conflict."

Florence merely let out a mocking laugh.

Since the day she returned, this father hadn’t cared for her at all, and Laura Yates was merely comforting Clara Fuller.

Clara sobbed to Laura that she feared being driven away once her biological sister returned.

Did Laura ever tell her anything like that?

Instead, without reason, she claimed Florence bullied Clara.

The atmosphere in the home was repulsive.

Abigail sighed, "The child is back; as parents, you should certainly compensate. Don’t you have another daughter?"

"Oh right, Clara is at school," Laura said, adding, "Florence will be starting school in a few days. She’s just back and might not be used to it yet."

"Florence," Abigail noticed her unhappiness, "now you know where Auntie lives. Feel free to come visit anytime."

Upon hearing that, Florence nodded.

Abigail then looked at Michael Fuller, "To be honest, I don’t have a daughter. Meeting this child yesterday was quite the fate. I’d like to be closer to her if you don’t mind."

Abigail knew Michael would likely speculate about her status. The people living in Silk Cloud Villa were either wealthy or powerful, and who wouldn’t want to form connections?

Especially with Abigail’s mysterious and revered presence, Michael Fuller was curious as well.

He certainly wouldn’t stop her.

"Not at all, it’s so fortunate you helped Florence. Otherwise, in that heavy rain yesterday, she might have fallen ill," said Michael Fuller.

Abigail gave Florence’s head a gentle pat before leaving.

Michael Fuller had the butler see Abigail out, then turned to Florence, "What were you thinking, running off like that!"

Florence said nothing.

Laura Yates was also displeased, "When I told you to leave, you really went..."

"You have the nerve to say that!" Michael Fuller scolded Laura, "Forcing your biological daughter out of the house—how would it sound if others found out?"

Laura opened her mouth but couldn’t refute.
