CHAPTER 141: CHAPTER 141: MEMORIES (41)

After a few simple words, people going uphill continued to climb, and those descending kept descending.

"Maybe we should watch the sunset tomorrow morning before leaving."

Florence Fuller shook her head, "I don’t want to."

Ethan Harper: "Why?"

"If you want to watch the sunset, I can come with you next time, but if you want me to climb back up now and wait for tomorrow morning’s sunset, I’ll beat you to death."

Ethan Harper laughed out loud.

It was supposed to be four hours to descend the mountain, but it actually took them almost five hours to reach the bottom.

The moment they got in the car, Florence Fuller collapsed directly onto the back seat, feeling utterly exhausted with not a single bit of energy left. On the other hand, Ethan Harper leisurely packed their things, and there were still two hours of driving needed to get home.

"Florence." Ethan Harper turned to look at the person in the back seat, only to realize she had fallen asleep with her eyes closed.

He turned off the car lights, set the navigation, and drove steadily back home.

Florence Fuller woke up again because of being pinched.

She drowsily opened her eyes, the room was too bright, she squinted and saw Ethan Harper, sleepily mumbling, "What are you doing?"

Her leg was pinched painfully, she frowned and withdrew her foot, "What are you doing?"

Her grogginess was turning into morning grumpiness.

"Just kneading for you." Ethan Harper pressed her foot with one hand, "We’re home."

Florence Fuller didn’t want to care about anything at that moment, grabbed a pillow to cover her face, and fell asleep again.

Ethan Harper helplessly could only knead her leg for relaxation until she fell asleep.

When she woke up again, it was already bright.

She slept on the sofa covered with a blanket, and Abigail Monrose was sitting beside her reading a magazine. She glanced over as Florence awoke, "Did I wake you up?"

"Nope." Florence Fuller stretched lazily, seeing the bright daylight outside, "What time is it?"

"It’s eleven o’clock." Abigail Monrose explained, "You all came back at two in the morning, girl, you couldn’t be woken."

Florence Fuller felt sore all over, especially her legs.

Did Ethan Harper knead her legs last night?

"I’m going upstairs to freshen up." Florence Fuller stood up, her thighs aching unmistakably.

"Go to your room and rest well, I’ve called a masseuse for you, they’ll come in the afternoon."

"Thank you, Aunt Monrose, I’ll head back to my room then."

Abigail Monrose watched her go upstairs and sighed lightly.

School is about to start, and she just hopes this girl gets better soon.

The last two days passed in a flash, and after school started, Florence Fuller moved into an apartment near the school.

Classes during the day, and in her spare time, she’d soak in the library. Saturdays and Sundays, if free, she’d learn investment and finance from Ethan Harper.

She kept busy for half of the semester, and then Abigail Monrose came to visit her at school.

It was lunchtime, so Florence Fuller simply took Abigail Monrose to the cafeteria.

She didn’t have many close friends at school, but this time, seeing an elegantly poised lady accompanying her to the cafeteria, peeling shrimp shells and opening sodas for her beside her.

A classmate at the next table asked in surprise, "Florence, is she your mom?"

Florence Fuller glanced at her, feeling somewhat puzzled by her overly surprised look, "Why?"

"You don’t know?" The female classmate was quite surprised but, glancing at Abigail Monrose, chose to keep silent, "Nothing, nothing."

Florence Fuller was a bit speechless, "What is it exactly?"

That female classmate probably couldn’t hold it for a few sentences, whispering, "Rumor has it you’re a wealthy tycoon’s illegitimate daughter."

Abigail Monrose heard this too, and chuckled, "Ridiculous, our Florence is a legitimate cherished daughter of a prestigious family."

The female classmate seemed to be hit by the aura of this statement from Abigail Monrose, yet she couldn’t help believing.

Normally, Florence Fuller navigates the school alone, not only with outstanding grades but also beautiful looks and great temperament.

Because Florence’s temperament matched that of the elegantly poised lady with her, the female classmate thought she was her mother.

Could an illegitimate daughter be raised this well and look so good?

"I really didn’t know about this." Florence Fuller thought about it, seemingly thought that on the way to the cafeteria, classmates kept glancing at her.

But she usually didn’t pay attention to this.

"How long has this been going on?"

"Since the start of school." The female classmate said, "There’s even a rumor you’re being taken care of."

Abigail Monrose frowned.

Florence Fuller pondered who it might be.

"However, the rumor more commonly is you’re an illegitimate daughter, and there’s an even bigger speculation that you and Clara Fuller are paternal half-sisters, but she’s the official young lady, and you..."

"Is there an online post about it at school?" Florence Fuller asked.

The female classmate nodded.

Then she wasn’t afraid of not finding out, she nodded, "Thank you."

The female classmate was a bit embarrassed, "I just thought you weren’t like what they said at all, I thought you didn’t care about those rumors."

That blazing week of rumors, Florence Fuller was attending classes as usual. While others had colorful university lives, she was running around with books wherever she went on campus.

Everyone sought group activities, yet she was always alone, not caring about others’ attention, even when forming study groups she was deliberately isolated, yet she could complete the teacher’s tasks outstandingly on her own.

The female classmate even thought she was indifferent, but it turned out she didn’t know.

Florence Fuller smiled and handed her the unopened soda, "Have a drink."

The female classmate accepted it, "Thank you."

Abigail Monrose also smiled and spoke, "Thank you for telling us, Florence. Truly, you’re a girl as lovely inside as out."

The female classmate was embarrassed by Abigail Monrose’s compliment, "Thank you, Auntie, well... I still have class so I’ll go first."

"Goodbye."

"Goodbye."

Once the female classmate left, Florence looked at Abigail, "I really didn’t know."

"On the way here, I was wondering why so many people kept looking around, I thought it was because of how pretty you are."

Florence Fuller chuckled, "You never thought you’re too beautiful yourself?"

"Auntie’s old, so I don’t think that anymore." Abigail Monrose said.

Florence Fuller denied it, "That’s not true, Aunt Monrose, you’re clearly very beautiful too."

"Alright, alright." Abigail Monrose wanted to talk about serious matters: "I came to find you for something today."

"You could have called me or asked me to come home, why travel all the way to school just to wait for my class to end."

"Happened to have time to get out, that’s all." Abigail Monrose placed a piece of meat in her dish, "Florence, this weekend, how about going to Harbor South City with Auntie?"

"Sure." Florence Fuller agreed readily.

She agreed so quickly, Abigail Monrose smiled in surprise, "You didn’t even ask what Auntie is going for, just agreed."

"Of course." Florence Fuller munched on her meal, "I’ll go anywhere with you."

Abigail Monrose was moved, "Trusting Auntie so much, what if I tell you something you aren’t willing to do after this?"

"No way." Florence Fuller concluded confidently.
