CHAPTER 150: CHAPTER 150: MEMORY SEGMENT (50)
This suite has three empty rooms, one for each of them; he knocked, but no one opened the door, so he tried turning the doorknob.
The door wasn’t locked, it opened.
"Florence." He called softly.
"Florence."
"What?" A tired and lazy voice came through: "Why are you calling?"
"Hungry? It’s time to eat." Ethan still stood by the door.
Ethan heard the rustling sound as Florence got out of bed barefoot, her hair was disheveled, eyes squinted: "Okay."
Ethan chuckled: "You’re so sleepy."
She stumbled out and sat down at the table, drinking a cup of water to quench her thirst first.
"You haven’t eaten anything since we got off the plane yesterday afternoon. Must be starving." Ethan said.
She had just ended her period in the past couple of days, so she was probably still a bit weary.
Florence yawned: "Did we make an appointment at the ski resort?"
"This afternoon you’re going?" Ethan was somewhat surprised: "Are you sure?"
"I’m sure."
She had to fulfill that bet.
She couldn’t bear it any longer.
Especially during the past month of traveling together, she felt her self-control was really impressive.
She resisted the urge to kiss Ethan.
"I’ll make a call later."
"Hmm."
Once she was full, Florence went to tidy up and change clothes.
The lounge at the ski resort was still the one they visited last year. Once they were fully dressed, the staff came to take them to the venue.
After a year, Florence felt a bit rusty, so she decided to practice in the area she was familiar with, while Ethan went down the trail once on his own.
His handsome, steady figure gradually disappeared from her line of sight. Florence exhaled a cold breath, pondering how she would win the bet.
This ski trail became more difficult the further it went, and she was sure she couldn’t reach the end. So she wasn’t sure how Ethan would decide what trail she should finish.
Perhaps she should just practice some more.
Compared to two-plank skiing, Florence preferred snowboarding; she believed her posture was sharp and attractive, and after a few turns, she didn’t fall again, gaining some confidence.
She thought Ethan wouldn’t make it too difficult for her.
"How’s it going?" Ethan was already back, having finished the entire trail, and he was a bit out of breath: "Need any help?"
"I’ve made quite a lot of progress, okay." Florence looked at him: "I didn’t fall."
That’s impossible.
She just fell less frequently.
"Got the hang of it already?" Ethan was a bit surprised. After all, she only started learning last year, and now, after so long, she was already getting it.
"Yep." Florence confidently said, looking at Ethan: "So, tell me, how do you plan to set the course?"
"I asked, and they’ll use the beginner’s area, but currently, there are other tourists there. They’ll clear them out by five o’clock."
Florence thought that should be fine: "What’s the time now?"
"Around four o’clock."
"Let me practice a bit more." She had to win; she had to win Ethan over tonight.
"Should we discuss the bet first?" Ethan took off his goggles and looked at her.
"Sure." Florence stood on her snowboard: "Tell me, what do I need to promise you if I lose?"
Ethan’s gaze locked onto her: "And what do you want if you win?"
Florence looked at him.
Their answers seemed ready, Ethan’s fingers twitched, feeling an urge to pin her down right now.
But before he could act, Florence turned and slid away: "Let me practice a bit more."
The beginner’s trail was wide and smooth, with little incline. As long as she maintained her speed without falling, she had a good chance of succeeding.
"Tell me." The tourists on the trail had already left, only the staff and the two of them remained, fully dressed: "How’s it going to be?"
"It’s just between the two of us." Ethan said.
"Huh?" Florence was surprised. She was definitely going to lose.
"It’s just between the two of us." Ethan repeated: "After 500 meters, the staff have dug up some snow piles, and one of them hides a flag. Whoever finds it first wins."
"But I can’t slide faster than you." Florence was a bit unhappy: "Even if you let me, I still can’t slide faster."
meters, he’d reach in a flash.
Although Ethan couldn’t see her expression under the protective gear, he could sense her displeasure.
But since they both had the same goal in the end, to him, it was merely a matter of who would speak first.
He was already prepared to confess during this ski trip.
"Okay, how about you let me go ahead by 100 meters."
Ethan: "Sure."
Florence still felt insecure inside, she stood at the starting line, looking at Ethan.
"If I win, you be my boyfriend."
Ethan’s heart suddenly sank; before he could react, the girl in front of him slid away in the blink of an eye.
Her straightforwardness hit Ethan right in the heart, and he couldn’t help but laugh. Watching Florence’s figure moving down, he thought there wasn’t really a need to go any faster.
She said ’be my boyfriend,’ so... let her win first.
Ethan set off leisurely.
He originally planned to take the lead and speak first, but Florence’s words made any effort unnecessary, and he didn’t want to upset the girl by competing too hard.
He just needed to follow behind.
Florence dashed down at her fastest speed; the beginner’s track wasn’t too challenging, allowing her to slide smoothly and quickly.
However, as she approached the finish line marked by the staff, she couldn’t stop her speed; she ended up slipping and crashing into a snow pile.
Ethan, still behind, felt his heart tighten when he saw this, but then he saw the girl kick off her snowboard and immediately headed for the snow pile hiding the flag.
Not in the first one, nor the second.
Until the third one.
"I found it!" Her voice was gleeful and bright, hopping towards Ethan, but she fell down after a few steps because the snow was too slippery.
Ethan slid over and helped her up: "Did you hurt yourself? Anywhere injured?"
"I found it!" She exclaimed, waving the flag: "Ethan, look."
"Yes, I see." Ethan shared in her excitement, looking at her: "I saw."
"So what I just said..."
"Yes." His voice turned gentle and pleased: "I would love to."
"Ah~" She leaped at him, and Ethan embraced her tightly, Florence looked up: "I knew you’d agree."
Both of them understood what was happening, needing only a moment to break the ice.
The ice broke, and it was like the invisible barrier between them vanished, as suppressed emotions spilled out, filling them both.
Ethan hugged her close, their helmets touching in a tender gesture.
Night fell, and the ski resort lights turned on. The compacted snow trail shimmered with silver light, creating a surreal blue glow with the night lights.
Two lovers embraced amidst it all.
