After Divorcing the Tycoon, I Married into a Wealthy Family Again
Chapter 169: Looking for Your Good Daughter
CHAPTER 169: CHAPTER 169: LOOKING FOR YOUR GOOD DAUGHTER
Cloudsea City experienced three days of continuous heavy rain, which stopped today, but the sky remained overcast.
Florence Fuller stood by the window, gazing calmly at the weather outside after the storm—moist and oppressive.
Her shoulder felt a slight pressure as a coat was draped over it, and Ethan Harper wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "It’s cooled down after the rain, and your body is still in recovery stage, so be careful," he said.
Florence merely smiled without saying anything.
Today is a big day.
At this moment, Fuller Corporation.
Shareholder meeting.
Michael Fuller spoke endlessly about the resurgence and plans for Fuller Corporation, while most of the shareholders listened absent-mindedly.
The arrival of Christopher Fuller took Michael by surprise.
Michael had always been wary of his nephew; despite the troubles Fuller Corporation faced, Christopher continued working as usual, unaffected.
He feigned indifference to deceive Michael, and even under Michael’s guarded watch, his appearance caused Michael’s expression to stiffen.
An ominous feeling crept over him.
Christopher’s secretary passed out documents to all shareholders as Christopher approached Michael. "Uncle, I think you need a rest," he suggested.
Michael’s face turned cold. "Christopher, what are you doing!"
Christopher placed the documents before him. "Now, I am the largest shareholder of Fuller Corporation."
"You’re spewing nonsense!" Michael didn’t believe it at all. He swept the document from the table with a hand. "Christopher, think carefully about what you’re doing!"
"Of course I know," Christopher responded.
Michael glared at him, gritting his teeth.
"Florence has already transferred her shares to me, plus..." Christopher glanced at the shareholders. "My holdings now exceed yours."
"Impossible!"
"It’s true." Someone from the board stood up. "Michael, it’s indeed time for you to step down."
Michael frowned, knowing full well these people were just opportunists shifting with the wind.
"Buying these people right under my nose, you really have some nerve," Michael said with a grim yet dark look.
"Michael, Fuller Corporation’s current state can no longer withstand turmoil. Our actions are for the company’s sake, and having Christopher as chairman, given he is the major shareholder, is reasonable," someone from the board said.
"Moreover, Christopher already has a plan to save Fuller Corporation. For the good of the company, we hope you can be clear-headed."
"Fine, fine!" Michael sucked in a cold breath. "You all have been colluding for this moment, haven’t you?"
"It might have required more effort, but your son’s hiring of a killer expedited things." Michael smiled wryly. "You probably don’t know, but James Fuller has just been taken away by the police."
"What did you say?"
"He’s committed quite a few wrongdoings, and the Sunworth Family has already reported him. Oh, it seems he dragged you into this as well." Christopher smiled gently. "The police are on their way."
It felt like a bolt from the blue as Michael widened his eyes. "You and Florence... were you two planning this all along?"
"Not really. Consider how ruthless you were. Did you really think she would swallow the insult? If you had been sane, maybe the company would still belong to your daughter, but now, she doesn’t want it and has given it to me."
Michael’s breathing became rapid, clutching his chest, and he slumped in his chair.
Back then, it was a stroke of luck to seize the company and meticulously watched his brother. Yet, he never imagined Florence would willingly hand the company away.
Christopher’s secretary called in security to escort Michael out.
Christopher took his seat. "Everyone, we can now discuss Fuller Corporation’s future direction."
___
"The former chairman of Fuller Corporation was taken away yesterday on suspicions of bribing government officials among other charges. Its CEO, James Fuller, was charged with rape, bribery, and involvement with illegal drugs and has been detained. The board of Fuller Corporation decided to remove James Fuller from his position as CEO, with the largest shareholder, Christopher Fuller, assuming the chairman role."
Florence Fuller turned off the DN Dawn report, leaning against the headboard, staring fixedly at one spot, deep in thought.
Luke Gardiner entered the room and saw her in that state. He could sense that ever since Florence awoke from her car accident, she seemed unhappy.
"What are you thinking about?" Luke Gardiner asked as he sat by the bed, gently brushing the long hair from Florence’s shoulder, feeling a slight sinking sensation in his chest.
Florence returned to herself with a glance at him, speaking softly, "Nothing."
"But seriously, you went through a lot of effort to take over Fuller Corporation only to give it away. Don’t you think it’s a pity?" Luke asked her.
"What’s there to pity?" Florence replied. "I don’t have enough energy to manage Fuller Corporation."
Her sole aim was not to let anyone climb over her for profit, nor would she allow herself to become a sacrifice or stepping stone.
Luke felt she was lying.
"If you’re willing to let that go, how about..." He leaned in a bit closer to Florence, smiling, "Consider Gardiner Clan instead."
Florence slightly furrowed her brow, looking at him calmly. "Can you not be so close to me?"
Luke clicked his tongue. "I didn’t even kiss, how is that close?"
Florence turned away, unwilling to say more.
Noticing she seemed even less pleased, Luke felt somewhat at a loss and wanted to cheer her up.
"Your next move..."
The door of the hospital room swung open with a bang, and Laura Yates rushed in, her eyes filled with panic and disbelief.
Michael and that illegitimate child had been taken away, and she asked everyone related around her to understand what happened.
"You handed all your shares to Christopher Fuller," Laura exclaimed, gritting her teeth. "How... how could you do this."
Listen to that accusing tone.
Luke Gardiner was interrupted in his private moment with Florence, his brow furrowing in evident displeasure. "Whatever she wishes to do with her belongings is her business! Why meddle so much!"
"Why didn’t you tell me you were going to do this!" Laura was now regretting why she listened to Clara Fuller and didn’t get divorced.
Unexpectedly, Michael would be ousted.
"Did I not ask you if you wanted a divorce?" Florence replied coldly. "Besides, it was a last-minute decision."
"What am I supposed to do now?" Laura was in a complete panic about how to live and what to do next!
"That’s your business."
"Florence." Laura hurried to her side, grabbing her arm, nearly in tears. "You... you have to help me. I’m your real mother; you can’t just abandon me."
Florence pushed her hand aside. "You should be seeking out your darling daughter Clara Fuller, not me!"
"Clara!" Laura’s heart caught.
Clara’s situation was now identical to hers. She never expected Michael and James to be taken down so easily.
Moreover, there’s apparently no hope of them getting out.
