After Divorcing the Tycoon, I Married into a Wealthy Family Again
Chapter 198: Divorce Agreement
CHAPTER 198: CHAPTER 198: DIVORCE AGREEMENT
Florence Fuller took a sip of water: "There’s something I need your help with."
Luke Gardiner seemed even happier and joked, "Isn’t it a husband’s duty to help his wife? Just tell me, and I’ll solve it for you. I’ll even treat you to a meal; no need to be so formal."
At this moment, Luke Gardiner couldn’t be happier.
Florence Fuller was asking him for help, meaning she still needed him, that he was still useful in her eyes.
"Order away." Florence Fuller looked at him. "You must have been here before, you’re familiar, take your pick."
"I’ve been here a few times. Their food is quite good." Luke Gardiner flipped through the menu. "You should like it too."
Florence Fuller didn’t speak, quietly sipping her tea.
The dishes came one after another, and Luke Gardiner ordered a bottle of good wine. Florence Fuller shook her head, "No wine."
Luke Gardiner thought she didn’t want to drink due to a low alcohol tolerance, so he drank it himself.
They engaged in small talk, and things were going smoothly; then Luke Gardiner asked.
"So, what is it about?" Luke Gardiner asked her, "Is it a difficult matter?"
"It’s not really difficult for you." Seeing that they were almost done eating, Florence Fuller chose not to wait, and she took a file out of her bag and handed it to Luke Gardiner.
Luke Gardiner took it, opened it curiously, and the bold letters on the divorce agreement stood out.
His expression turned cold as he placed the document back, "What do you mean, didn’t I agree to divorce? Just not now..."
"I can wait, but I can’t wait endlessly."
"Is it that you can’t wait or that Ethan Harper can’t wait, he’s so eager to take over!" He couldn’t keep this from rolling off his tongue.
"My divorce has nothing to do with him; even before he appeared, I was going to get a divorce." Florence Fuller replied, "You said we couldn’t divorce temporarily because of your grandfather’s health. Fine, we can divorce secretly and not tell him."
Luke Gardiner’s face froze, feeling that the happiness from the dinner invitation was entirely in vain; Florence Fuller actually wanted a divorce.
"Check the divorce agreement." Florence Fuller said, "I didn’t take what Gardiner Clan offered previously, so the division of our assets won’t be very complicated; you can take a look..."
Luke Gardiner interrupted her, "Did you plan to divorce since the beginning when you married into the family?"
Florence Fuller paused and admitted, "Yes! From the beginning, I didn’t plan to stay in the Gardiner Family for a lifetime."
"So my indifferent attitude to you at first suited your wishes just fine." Luke Gardiner said bitterly, "Isn’t that so?"
Florence Fuller: "Yes!"
Now, he was deeply entangled with Florence Fuller, but Florence Fuller had never been moved by him.
"Take a look, if you think it’s okay, we can sign." Florence Fuller said, handing him a pen.
Looking at the pen she prepared, Luke Gardiner felt intense discomfort; he had no desire to open the divorce agreement and put it aside: "I understand, I’ll consult a lawyer when I return, even though you haven’t been in the Gardiner Family for years, I can’t shortchange you."
"There’s nothing to shortchange." Florence Fuller hoped he would sign immediately today: "Just take a glance, I guarantee our division is clear, with neither too little nor too much for either of us."
Luke Gardiner’s eyes darkened slightly: "Florence Fuller, any woman with me doesn’t leave without anything, I never shortchange anyone."
Hearing this, Florence Fuller’s gaze sharpened: "First, I was never with you, and second, I wasn’t really your woman."
Luke Gardiner’s heart split, his pupils trembled slightly.
That’s right, despite his reputation as a philanderer, he’d never slept with his own wife.
Initially, he wanted to give newlywed Florence Fuller a taste of reality, thinking, what was the big deal about marrying into the Gardiner Clan? Being Young Mrs. Gardiner wouldn’t change things; his life would still flourish without acknowledging her.
At first, he even found Florence Fuller’s nonchalant attitude to be reassuring, doing what was required in front of the old man, obedient and docile.
But later, he hoped for more, yet Florence Fuller never consented.
She could fiercely beat him up, mock him for being shameless and disgusting.
On hearing those words, he felt discomfort, not wanting such an image of himself in her mind, regretting not noticing earlier.
She seemed to prefer him not disturbing her, comfortable living her own peaceful life.
She never reconsidered, yet Luke Gardiner did.
He shouldn’t have missed their wedding night; he should’ve consummated their marriage back then.
Florence Fuller saw his dazed look and said slowly, "Luke Gardiner, there’s no point in dragging this on. We can still keep it from Grandpa after signing the divorce; it won’t have any effect."
"Like I said, I need to consult a lawyer first." Luke Gardiner said solemnly.
Florence Fuller gritted her teeth, "Fine, then give me an answer, when can you discuss with the lawyer, or we can arrange a time for both of us to come together and discuss."
Luke Gardiner shook his head, "Let’s talk later."
Florence Fuller frowned, "Are you deliberately stalling? What’s the point?"
"There’s no point." Luke Gardiner replied calmly, "Also not stalling."
"Then I’ll need your response within a week."
Luke Gardiner lowered his gaze and said nothing.
Florence Fuller detected a hint that Luke Gardiner might not intend to divorce her and was just putting on a show for her.
Florence Fuller clenched her teeth, holding back her frustration, "Go ahead and eat, I’ll settle the bill."
Luke Gardiner opened his mouth, wanting to call out to her, but his throat felt tight. Watching her quickly leave, his eyes were filled with hurt.
What should he do, how could he keep this woman?
After settling the bill, Florence Fuller returned to her car, the quiet environment fueling her anger.
Luke Gardiner is playing games with her, is that it?
If he wants to be together, then fine, if he doesn’t want a divorce, that’s okay, but how can things be that simple!
Divorce, she is determined to get!
The next day, Florence Fuller directly sent her lawyer to Gardiner Clan Group to find Luke Gardiner.
Florence Fuller’s lawyer was immediately refused by Luke Gardiner’s assistant, saying he wasn’t available. The lawyer was instructed by Florence Fuller to deliver the divorce agreement to Luke Gardiner and discuss the property division.
The lawyer waited for two hours but returned without success.
The following day it was the same.
The third day saw Florence Fuller’s new secretary accompany the lawyer.
The excuse remained the same, Luke Gardiner was unavailable.
Oliver Newton had a friendly chat with Edward Johnson, ultimately leaving the divorce agreement and Florence Fuller’s divorce lawyer’s card, then departed.
Edward Johnson certainly wouldn’t dare give the divorce documents to Luke Gardiner, considering Luke Gardiner had been avoiding Florence Fuller’s lawyer these past few days.
