After Divorcing the Tycoon, I Married into a Wealthy Family Again
Chapter 62: Making You Call Sister-in-Law
CHAPTER 62: CHAPTER 62: MAKING YOU CALL SISTER-IN-LAW
What kind of personality does Chloe Quinn have?
Her family was relatively well-off, and she was the only daughter, pampered by her parents. She never lacked suitors, and her relationships always went smoothly.
If she liked someone, she’d be with them; if she didn’t, she’d break up cleanly.
Following the belief that there’s always someone better after a breakup, her ideal partner was always a gentle and handsome man who was easy to please.
She was someone who lost interest quickly, but Charles Shaw was different. From childhood to adulthood, he treated all his relationships seriously and sincerely, with a gentle and refined appearance.
Back in school, some girls even paid her and Evelyn Shaw to help deliver love letters. When Charles found out, he personally apologized to the girls and politely refused the letters, saving face for them.
What’s more, he hasn’t even dated anyone yet. Chloe Quinn noticed him just during one interview, and now she’s already got him. How could Florence Fuller not be upset?
"I swear to you I’m not two-timing. I’ve completely ended everything from before, and I promised him," Chloe said earnestly.
"Completely ended!" Florence sneered. "What do you plan to do about Zomerton, huh!"
Florence was still unclear about Zomerton’s presence. She only knew Chloe suddenly brought him by her side once, thinking he was a real assistant until she happened to see them together by chance.
Chloe paused, "I’ll handle it, but just not now."
Florence held back her temper. "How long has it been?"
"About half a year."
Like daggers, Florence’s eyes pierced Chloe, who said seriously, "I... I didn’t expect your brother would agree so quickly when I mentioned it that night..."
"You really are just playing with him, Chloe Quinn, did you see me as a friend, huh?" Florence growled angrily.
"I’m not just playing around!" Chloe became serious. "I assure you I’m genuinely serious about him, given our relationship, how could I ever leave your brother hanging? I swear, truly, he’s the only one now, and after getting together with him, I’ve cut ties with all of my other guy friends.
And you know I’m not like your husband; I date one, break up, then date another, never overlapping. I told Zomerton the same, and he said he still wants to stay with the company... I’m definitely serious about Charles Shaw..."
Florence gritted her teeth, her gaze darkened on her.
Chloe could understand her concerned feelings. "I know you think my intentions toward him are just like with others before, and considering his situation, I can understand. But I’m with him now, he’s not alone anymore, and life doesn’t have to be that hard."
"You’d better know what you’re saying." Florence looked at her.
Chloe nodded confidently, "I’m sure."
Florence closed her eyes, deciding to trust her, for now.
Seeing her anger subside a little, Chloe coughed lightly, "Well... maybe you’ll have to call me sister-in-law in the future, let’s be friendly..."
"Get serious, and I’ll be friendly." Florence’s eyes flashed with dark light. "If I find out you’re just toying with him, I won’t let you off!"
"Sis... sister... you’re my sister... I’m serious, alright." Chloe said.
Florence snorted, turning to leave.
Chloe watched her back, unwilling to give in, "One day I’ll make you call me sister-in-law."
Inside the café.
Evelyn Shaw chatted with Charles Shaw about family matters, not expecting Florence Fuller and Chloe Quinn to return so quickly. They didn’t seem as terrifying as when they left; they probably talked it out.
"You’re back." Evelyn pulled a chair, signaling Florence to sit beside her.
Chloe sat next to Charles, whose eyes swept back and forth between the two of them, asking, "What did you two talk about?"
"Nothing much." Chloe smiled slightly.
Florence looked at Chloe, who smiled back and nodded.
The waiter brought a cold Americano. Florence took it and drank more than half in one go. Chloe felt as if she was issuing a warning to her.
Remember what you just said.
"Florence." Charles looked at her. "About the hospital thing before, it was my mistake."
Florence didn’t make a sound.
"In our hearts, we’ve always been family. It was wrong of me not to tell you about hiding things from mom. I know you don’t easily forgive, but I still want to apologize."
The atmosphere at the table remained silent and heavy.
Chloe coughed lightly twice, "Forgive him... for the sake of the little snacks I often brought you from work before... they were made by your brother."
Florence: "..."
No wonder Chloe sometimes brought her snacks and cookies that tasted so good she asked where to buy them.
She said someone made them.
Florence never thought about it on that level,
even asked Chloe to bring her two more boxes, which she did on time the next day...
She sighed.
Evelyn’s dissatisfied voice accused, "I haven’t eaten snacks baked by you in ages, brother. A while back, I called, and you said you didn’t have time to make them."
"Drink this Americano, let bygones be bygones, and let’s not harp on it," declared Chloe as she clinked her cup with Florence’s half-drunk Americano, a gesture of truce.
Florence gave her a dissatisfied glance but still finished the remaining half of her Americano.
"Great, we can have a nice dinner tonight." Evelyn smiled brightly.
"Dear little sister." Chloe naturally chimed in, "I’m your brother’s girlfriend... you didn’t know about me, did you?"
Evelyn laughed, "I know now."
"Your brother really... a beauty like me isn’t worth mentioning? He didn’t even tell you about me, from now on we’re family..."
Charles was surprised by her change of attitude, "Weren’t you going to keep it a secret?"
"Well, since Florence didn’t know before..." Chloe pouted a little, looking pitifully at him, "She was worried about you. I promised her properly before she was willing to accept me as her sister-in-law."
Sister-in-law?
Evelyn glanced between Florence and Chloe.
"I never called you sister-in-law." Florence said.
"No problem, it’s only a matter of time." Chloe dismissively waved her hand, completely unbothered by the duo, "Oh well, since the secret’s out, why don’t you move in with me, no problem inviting Florence and my sister over for meals at home... doesn’t that sound nice..."
Florence: "..."
Evelyn: "..."
The cake in front of them had lost its appeal.
Charles’s face flushed with embarrassment, his arm fidgeting, "Let’s talk about it later."
"What’s there to consider?" Chloe questioned, seeming to remember something, she turned to Florence, "You all having dinner tonight?"
"I think so..." Evelyn chimed in, "But it looks like we all have time to be together tonight."
