After Divorcing the Tycoon, I Married into a Wealthy Family Again
Chapter 66 - 64: Will You Help Mom?
CHAPTER 66: CHAPTER 64: WILL YOU HELP MOM?
"No need, not necessary." Florence Fuller stopped her: "If you’re fine, just hurry up and go back."
Laura Yates looked at her, hesitantly saying: "Do you want to go home for a while too?"
After putting away the last bag, Florence Fuller found it amusing: "Have you forgotten that you called me and questioned why I came back?"
Laura Yates lowered her head: "I am... You’ve already found out, right."
"Found out what."
"About your dad." Laura Yates frowned deeply: "The illegitimate child issue."
"So what." Florence Fuller got in the car: "What difference does it make whether I know or not."
"Florence." Laura Yates was afraid she’d leave without looking back and held onto the car door: "Michael Fuller is now after the little shares I have, but he doesn’t know I’ve given them to you. If he finds out and you are just in Cloudsea City, you won’t be able to keep your shares. Now, to make me accept that illegitimate child, he’s giving me two options: divorce or hand over the shares and acknowledge that son."
Florence Fuller leaned against the car seat: "Do you think he can snatch back things from my hands if I don’t agree? Besides, why did you come back? Stay in SJ City and ignore him. Coming back now is delivering yourself to him!"
"Clara Fuller said staying like this isn’t a solution, and all our accounts have been frozen by Michael Fuller, so she suggested I come back to talk to your dad to see if there’s a way to solve this." Laura Yates said with a lack of confidence.
As Florence Fuller said, she delivered herself. Michael Fuller has all her documents in his grip; she can’t leave even if she wanted to.
No money either.
"Idiot." Florence Fuller rolled her eyes.
Laura Yates lived so many years, and despite her waning feelings for Michael Fuller year by year, she thought this man at least never put her in an embarrassing situation.
But in the end, it was just a phone call informing her he had a son outside, as old as Florence Fuller, who’s now in the company waiting to inherit his position. This hit her like a lightning strike.
Thinking about it, Laura Yates started crying. She wiped her tears and sobbed: "I don’t know what to do. The Yates Family isn’t as good as the Fuller Family, and my family simply refuses to handle this issue."
"Find your daughter." Florence Fuller raised an eyebrow: "Didn’t you say Clara is sensible and capable? Crying in front of me is useless; do you think I can come up with a solution for you?"
"Clara... Clara..." Laura Yates cried: "She... she’s busy with acting and can’t handle it."
"I can’t handle it either." Florence Fuller fastened her seatbelt: "Please let go, I’m leaving."
"Florence, Florence don’t be like this." Laura Yates cried, trying to grab her hand: "Mom really has nothing left. I never thought your dad was heartless. You can’t just abandon mom."
"I told you." She pried Laura Yates’ hands off: "Find your daughter, not me."
"I’m sorry." Laura Yates cried pitifully: "I know I’m biased toward Clara and you’re always unhappy with that, but only you can help me now. Please, for the sake of those shares, help me, okay."
Florence Fuller took a deep breath: "Help you with what? What do you want to do?"
Laura Yates shook her head as she didn’t know herself.
"Do you realize if you had any sense, you wouldn’t have listened to Clara and come back here only to get manipulated?" Florence Fuller looked at her scornfully: "But then again, you’ve always mindlessly agreed with Clara."
Laura Yates wiped her tears again, only for them to fall once more.
She had to admit now that Florence Fuller is much smarter than Clara. She realized about the Fuller Family matters as soon as she reached Cloudsea City, but why did she listen to Clara’s words earlier and hide it from Florence Fuller?
"How about you come home for a stay too." Laura Yates looked at her: "It’s been so long, and we haven’t had a meal together."
Florence Fuller shook her head: "You go back first."
Laura Yates looked at her anxiously: "Will you help mom then?"
"Whether I help or not depends on what you think." Florence Fuller leaned against the car window: "Are you really going to accept that illegitimate child?"
Laura Yates shook her head repeatedly: "Clara said that if nothing works, I should accept Michael Fuller’s condition so at least I’d still be Madam Fuller, but... I don’t want that."
Florence Fuller looked at her, secretly relieved that she was still somewhat clear-headed and not blindly following Clara’s demands.
"You should go back first." Florence Fuller glanced at the time: "Live your life the way you want according to your thoughts."
Laura Yates hesitated for a moment but still asked: "Where are you staying these days?"
"Outside."
"Can I call you if something happens?"
"Yes!"
Florence Fuller agreed, driving away swiftly.
Laura Yates watched the car’s silhouette gradually disappear, her eyes burning. She wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes, but the more she wiped, the more tears came.
After the accounts were frozen, she couldn’t pay her bills. She called Michael Fuller, but he wouldn’t answer. In the end, she turned to Clara, but she too did not answer her calls.
In the end, it was her own daughter who came through for her. Covering her face, Laura Yates squatted down and cried into her hands.
——
The two-day holiday passed quickly, and on the new week, Florence Fuller arrived at work all refreshed. As soon as she started, stacks of folders were brought to her workstation.
"Director Johnson said you need to organize these materials."
Florence Fuller flipped through them casually, finding various types of data, and nodded: "Okay."
"Director needs them by noon tomorrow," the person who delivered the material reminded her.
Florence Fuller nodded.
Sister Keaton and a few others gathered around: "Isn’t it too tight a deadline to have all these ready by noon tomorrow?"
Sophia Seymour flipped through the files: "Aren’t these just the plans from a few years ago? Why organize them?"
"Florence, give me some, I’ll help you," Sister Keaton said.
"No need." Florence Fuller stopped her: "The Director is clearly targeting me. I’d better do it myself; you guys stay out of it. Whether I can do it or not doesn’t matter, but you absolutely shouldn’t invite trouble."
They remembered last Friday, when it seemed the Director had a disagreement with Florence Fuller.
"Director Johnson has a good relationship with President Fuller," Fang Le whispered: "She was an intern before, and Sister Keaton was supposed to be promoted to manager level, but couldn’t compare with her rapid promotion. Since she had a feud with Sister Keaton, as soon as she became Director, she removed her from the manager position. Even though you were placed by the Director, you can’t compare with the President’s background, so let’s endure a bit, Florence."
Florence Fuller looked at Sister Keaton in surprise: "Is that so?"
Sister Keaton sighed helplessly: "It’s all in the past."
"But that wasn’t Sister Keaton’s fault. You’ve worked here so long, certainly contributing a lot. An error in a proposal is everyone’s issue, why should you take the blame alone? Besides, it hardly concerns you," Sophia Seymour said discontentedly.
