CHAPTER 119: CHAPTER 119: I CARRY HER TO THE BATHROOM

Su Junling looked perplexed. "Haven’t I treated Fu Bing well enough?"

"Fu Bing is unaware of all the nice things you’ve done. You feel that your affection for her is abundant. In her eyes, you’re merely a director who arranged a film role for her and a friend; nothing more. I’m certain she doesn’t feel the rest. When we visit her this time, it’s best to go under my name. We can take it step by step to ascertain her attitude," Han Liying gently pinched Su Junling’s face. "Fu Bing isn’t like the other girls you’ve encountered. She’s the most lacking in love but also the least in need of it. Countless people have loved her, and she has experienced a deeply ingrained love. If you approach her casually, as though you’re just another rich playboy trying to date her, she won’t indulge you. Think about what your strengths are and use them to win her over."

It suddenly dawned on Su Junling that he had oversimplified things.

Fu Bing’s past experiences made her more cautious with men, determined not to make the same mistakes again.

Su Junling quickly regained his composure. "What do I need to do now?"

"I’ve had soup prepared. Find a way to get in touch with her assistant and propose a formal visit. Be sure to mention that you’re visiting with me; that way, she won’t turn you down immediately," Han Liying advised.

Even if they were rejected this time, given Fu Bing’s character, she would meet with them at an appropriate time.

Su Junling rarely had the chance to interact with his mother.

He had only a vague sense that his mother was excellent and outstanding, but he had never genuinely experienced it.

Now he realized that his mother’s perspective and handling of many matters were flawless.

Su Junling eventually got hold of Fu Xiaomei’s contact information.

Seeing the call was from a Jiangcheng number, Xiaomei answered without any hesitation.

"Xiaomei, this is Su Junling."

"Director Su?" Xiaomei gasped softly, covering her mouth.

"My mother and I are touring Jiangnan and heard about Fu Bing’s car accident. My mother is very worried about her. Would it be convenient for us to visit her?"

"Thank you for your concern, Director Su. My sister’s surgery was very successful, but she’s not in a good state right now and can’t leave her bed. Ning Auntie and I hope not to overtax her these next few days. Once she’s feeling better, I’ll definitely tell her. Is that alright with you?"

Ning Auntie quietly listened to Xiaomei make her excuses.

This child isn’t inept at socializing.

With Fu Bing to back her up, she could afford to be lazy and act like a child.

But when Fu Bing was incapacitated, Xiaomei could handle matters quite well.

Having been forewarned by his mother, Su Junling found Xiaomei’s refusal not so hard to accept.

"Could you tell me about her current condition? My mother and I are extremely worried about her."

"My sister has sustained varying degrees of injury to her legs, back, and arms. Conservatively, she’ll need at least a month of convalescence. The left leg was the worst affected; it got trapped by the deformed car door. They’ve repositioned it during surgery, but as of now, it still can’t move. Whether she’ll have a limp later on is still uncertain." Xiaomei’s voice couldn’t help but choke up.

Just when everything seemed to be improving, disaster struck out of nowhere.

Her sister must be feeling terrible at this moment.

Yet, to keep them from worrying, she refused to show her vulnerability.

At times like these, she felt immense guilt.

If Xiaomei were strong enough to provide her with a sense of security, would her sister openly share her insecurity, fear, and terror?

Listening, Su Junling also felt uneasy. "Is the doctor competent? She’s competed in medical skills tournaments before, so resources in that area shouldn’t be an issue."

"The doctor is very skilled. Please rest assured, you and Mrs. Su." Xiaomei noticed Fu Bing stirring, showing signs of waking, and said, "Would it be alright if I save your contact information? I’ll update you and Mrs. Su on my sister’s recovery every few days."

"That would be fine."

Xiaomei solemnly added Su Junling as a contact.

She had her little schemes.

Her sister couldn’t keep getting entangled with Qin Jinhai.

However, ordinary men would certainly not appeal to her sister, and those men weren’t worthy of her either.

Director Su, however, could be an option.

Director Su’s family background was good, and more importantly, he cared about her sister.

Xiaomei trotted to Fu Bing’s side. "Sister, you’re awake? What do you need?"

Fu Bing looked at Xiaomei, somewhat embarrassed. "Help me up. I want to go to the restroom."

"Sister Linxing said you can’t get out of bed." Xiaomei bent down and retrieved a brand-new chamber pot from under the bed. "Use this. Many people in the hospital do."

Fu Bing stared at the chamber pot for a long moment. "I’ll try to hold it in a bit longer."

"Don’t be embarrassed." Xiaomei’s eyes were sparkling; she even seemed a little excited.

Her sister rarely let her help with anything.

This time, she could help her sister with things like emptying the chamber pot, and she didn’t mind at all.

"You two, leave. I’ll carry her to the restroom."

Qin Jinhai’s voice sounded from the doorway of the ward.

Xiaomei turned her head.

Sure enough, she saw Qin Jinhai walking towards her sister.

She blocked his path with the chamber pot. "My sister doesn’t want to see you! Get out!"

The moment Qin Jinhai appeared, Fu Bing froze, her entire body as if nailed to the spot.

Qin Jinhai!

This man always managed to stir all her emotions so easily.

Her fear of him had now returned to the level it was when she was first released from prison.

She fought to suppress her trembling, forcing herself to look directly at his face.

"Get out," Fu Bing said.

Qin Jinhai ignored her. He bent down, carefully avoiding her injuries, picked her up, and then, just as carefully, placed her on the toilet.

Then, he stepped out of the restroom.

The entire process took less than half a minute.

Xiaomei’s eyes widened as she glared fiercely at Qin Jinhai.

"Do you have any idea how detestable you are? My sister is afraid of you! You know it, but you pretend not to see! Do you think rich people can just force others to do whatever they want?"

Qin Jinhai ignored her, his attention fixed on the sounds coming from the restroom.

Xiaomei felt somewhat disheartened.

Her words were like tiny fists striking a large ball of cotton—utterly ineffective against Qin Jinhai.

"Does ignoring me make the problem disappear? My sister doesn’t owe you anything! Can you stop constantly disturbing her life? Let’s assume for a moment you love my sister. Your love clearly can’t protect her. But in reality, you don’t love my sister that much, do you?"

Meeting Qin Jinhai’s increasingly cold gaze, Xiaomei continued boldly, "If you loved her, you wouldn’t put her in danger; you wouldn’t make things difficult for her! I still remember how radiant my sister was before she met you. She and Aunt Fu didn’t have much money back then, but she was happy every single day. After she met you, every time you came to her covered in blood, she’d lie awake for nights, terrified something would happen to you."

"But what did you do? You pushed her into darkness! She struggled so hard to climb out of that abyss, and now you want to shove her back in? Do you want her to live her entire life consumed by fear and hatred?"

Xiaomei’s words made Qin Jinhai’s expression grow increasingly grim.

Fu Ya had questioned him with these same words.

Before her death, Fu Ya had confronted him, "What on earth does Fu Bing owe you for you to betray her like this? She might fall into an abyss, but she also has the courage to climb out. Yet, your attitude towards her is like having ten thousand feet trample her as she tries to get up."

"What makes you think that just because you love her, she should have to bear all this for you? Is your love somehow more noble than anyone else’s?"
