After Prison, She Shocks the World
Chapter 197: Boss, I found Sister Bing’s family
CHAPTER 197: CHAPTER 197: BOSS, I FOUND SISTER BING’S FAMILY
Su Junhui didn’t hesitate and followed his older brother.
It wasn’t until they entered his older brother’s courtyard that he asked, "How much do you know about what happened that year?"
"A bit more than you," Su Junxian lowered his voice, his usually serene and bright eyes carrying a reflective gaze.
He handed a document folder to Su Junhui. "I haven’t gathered much information; see if your friends can use it to reconstruct what she would look like now that she’s grown up."
Su Junhui didn’t hesitate and immediately opened the folder.
There were very few photos inside.
Su Junhui’s expression grew even uglier.
"Why are there so few photos of our sister compared to ours?"
Su Junxian stared at the sparse photos and said something that made Su Junhui break out in a cold sweat.
"Because from the moment she was born, she was destined to be abandoned by her family. Keeping more photos of her would only leave behind more risks."
Su Junhui pursed his lips tightly, fixing his gaze on Su Junxian.
"Big Brother, when did you find out?"
"After Mom woke up." Su Junxian’s face wasn’t much better.
Under Su Junhui’s questioning gaze, he said in a soft voice, "I wanted to find photos of our sister to show her, to ease her longing, and then I discovered that all of our sister’s things had vanished without a trace."
"But Aunt Mei looked genuinely surprised, as if she wasn’t faking it," Su Junhui said.
"After Mom fell into a coma, Aunt Mei took over the domestic affairs of the house, so it’s not strange that she didn’t have the energy to care about our sister’s things. Our sister’s belongings should still be in the house, simply put away by them. I asked Dad, and he said nothing."
"Dad did tell me, though. He said our sister was a sacrificial offering for the sins of our entire Su Family."
"I can roughly guess some of it, and that’s why I did everything I could to collect photos of our sister." Su Junxian swallowed hard. "Junhui, we might very well be living in peace and prosperity at the expense of our own biological sister."
This realization had once caused Su Junxian to break down.
He had a calm and profound nature, like still waters running deep. Even when he broke down, he endured it alone in the silent solitude of the night. By day, he remained the young head of the Su Group.
His pride, self-esteem, and the education he had always received made it unbearable for him to think that he and his family gained wealth and status off the back of a child. He much preferred to fight for it openly with all his strength and effort, rather than achieving his goals through dark and underhanded schemes.
Su Junhui looked at his older brother’s bloodshot eyes and didn’t know what to say for a moment.
How much pain must his brother have been in back then?
How could someone so noble and principled bear his family engaging in such vile acts?
"Big Brother..."
Su Junxian clenched his lips tightly. "Our sister was too young when she left; her photos might not be of much use. Junhui, even if we know, there’s nothing we can do for her. That’s where I feel most powerless."
Su Junxian cut himself off, the veins on his forehead standing out.
"We can never go back to the moment she left us, do you understand?"
Su Junhui’s gaze grew more luminous. "I understand, and that’s exactly why we must find her. No matter the outcome, I have to find her! It doesn’t matter if she hates us; we are her brothers. We were supposed to protect her well, not pamper an imposter for so many years!"
"Even if she hates us, I’m prepared to accept it!" Su Junhui still remembered that little girl.
Her round, black eyes, calling him and Junying ’Big Brother’ in her soft, childlike voice.
That was the only impression he had of her.
The little dumpling had vanished forever.
When Su Junxian heard the word "hate," his body trembled.
"You go find her. No matter what resources are needed, I’ll do everything I can to help you," he said.
"Thank you, Big Brother!"
Su Junxian patted his shoulder. "The priority is to find our sister first. Don’t worry about the family matters; don’t let those trivialities delay the most important thing."
Many of his actions were under public scrutiny; he was the least suitable person to search for someone. It was a good thing Junhui had found out about this. Junhui’s profession and network consisted of formidable individuals who valued privacy and operated by strict rules; they were the most suitable for the search.
Su Junhui quickly glanced over all the information, then immediately scanned all the materials into a database using a professional scanner.
「Half an hour later.」
Wu Yue sent a message to Wu Shi.
"Boss, there’s a lead on the person you’re looking for!"
Wu Shi quickly returned to his room and dialed Wu Yue’s number.
"What happened?"
"Half an hour ago, Su Junhui uploaded some photos to the network I’m monitoring. The program I set up automatically matched them, and I found that the photos he uploaded are very similar to the ones you drew by hand back in the day."
Wu Yue was excited.
"Wait a moment, I’ll send you the photos he uploaded right now."
With trembling hands, Wu Yue sent the photos to Wu Shi.
Wu Shi looked at those low-resolution photos.
There were about ten photos, from different ages, different angles.
The contours and the eyes were very much like the little one in his memory.
Had he finally found her family?
There wasn’t a hint of happiness in Wu Shi’s heart.
The photos uploaded by Su Junhui could only be of the Su Family’s youngest daughter. As soon as he uploaded them, Wu Yue’s little program automatically filtered and compared them.
Why, after all these years, had the Su Family only now thought to upload her photos?
As far as he knew, the Su Family had always been looking for her. The Su Family could deploy the most professional search experts; it was impossible for them to overlook such critical information.
There was only one possibility—the Su Family was up to something!
Wu Shi suppressed the turmoil in his heart. "I got it. Keep watching."
"Mm-hmm."
Wu Shi’s fingers gently stroked the small face in the photo.
So, you’re the daughter of the Su Family? Even our backgrounds are so compatible! Xiaobing, what do you have to say to that?
Fu Bing was walking upstairs when she suddenly heard her name.
She asked in confusion, "Wu Shi, did you call me?"
Wu Shi turned off his screen. "I wanted you to obediently listen to Aunt Ning and take more herbal baths. Your hands and feet get too cold in the winter."
"Bathing every day is too troublesome." Fu Bing saw that his eyes were full of laughter. "Did something good happen?"
"Yeah."
"What is it?"
"I’m not telling you."
"...Alright, as long as you’re happy."
Everyone had secrets, and she respected that.
Fu Bing walked to the end of the second floor.
This was where the second floor opened up to the third in a double-height space, with a floor-to-ceiling window eight meters tall and four meters wide, offering the best light and view in the villa.
Fu Bing took off her shoes and curled up in an armchair.
Behind her stood a six-meter-tall Dragon Blood Tree that gave a sense of towering strength indoors.
Fu Bing gently touched the rough trunk of the Dragon Blood Tree.
Her gaze, however, was fixed outside the window, her thoughts unknown.
At that moment, Wu Shi desperately wanted to shed all his scars and stand before her as Qin Jinhai.
To tell her he was still alive, that he had helped her find her biological family!
All these impulses, like stampeding wild horses, threatened to burst through his skin and override his reason.
In the end, he forcibly suppressed them all.
She mustn’t know, not at this time!
Neither the Su Family nor the Qin Family was a safe haven right now; letting her know would bring her no benefit!
