After Prison, She Shocks the World
Chapter 202: Tearing Open the Calm Surface of the Su Family
CHAPTER 202: CHAPTER 202: TEARING OPEN THE CALM SURFACE OF THE SU FAMILY
Su Junhui’s hand trembled. "Why has it come to this?"
"Outsiders always thought that Sully was only opened to the public when your parents stopped hosting external functions, with the last time being the celebration following your mother’s awakening. In reality, there was another occasion—it was your and Junying’s birthday party. Opening Sully that time led to your sister’s disappearance, a topic everyone avoids."
Su He spoke in an indifferent tone, as if discussing someone else’s family matters. In fact, it wasn’t much of his concern.
Su Junhui felt a wave of desolation inside.
All the adults had dug a pit for a child, calculated everything, and made her jump into it.
If she didn’t jump, they had ways to press her into it.
He said hoarsely, "Even if Sully hadn’t been opened, my sister would still have been lost at that time."
Su He looked at him meaningfully. "You guessed right. You’re so smart. You must also know why she hasn’t been found all these years."
Su Junhui replied coldly, "Because there wasn’t an intention to find her."
Su He remained silent.
He had originally thought so too.
Because Fu Bing had always lived under their watchful eyes and even gotten involved with Qin Jinhai, the Su Family had simply accepted it.
Su He wasn’t sure when Old Madam Su and Su Jiang had found out.
With their connections, they would have known even sooner than him.
Especially Old Madam Su.
She didn’t like Fu Ya being with Su Chu and had interfered with them many times.
Even though Su Chu was gone, she wouldn’t let Fu Ya live well without ensuring someone caused her trouble.
With a young girl appearing beside Fu Ya, she couldn’t possibly have ignored it.
After all, that girl could very likely be Su Chu’s child.
He didn’t believe that Old Madam Su hadn’t tested Fu Bing’s DNA.
She had known all along that Fu Bing was a Su Family member; she just didn’t want to acknowledge her!
Su He’s silence sent a chill down Su Junhui’s back.
He said firmly, "I want to bring my sister home!"
"She might not need the Su Family," Su He interrupted his thoughts.
Fu Bing’s hardest times were already past.
She didn’t need these arrogant people from the Su Family to add luster to her life.
Su Junhui’s face went pale. He opened his mouth, unsure how to argue.
He had never considered this possibility.
His background in a top-tier wealthy family instilled a sense of superiority in him. Because of this, he had preemptively assumed no one would refuse.
Su Junhui suddenly laughed. "Thank you, Uncle. If we hadn’t discussed this today, I would’ve approached my sister with the arrogance I just displayed. From the moment I learned about this until a second ago, all my thoughts were about rescuing her from her supposed distress. I had imagined her living in a dreadful, terrible state, but why should I assume her life is bad?"
Su He had never seen Su Junhui like this. He asked, "Are you sure you want to find her?"
"Absolutely! As long as she’s alive, I must find her."
"Settle the Su Family’s problems first, and resolve the Shu Family’s issues. Then you will naturally find out who your sister is," Su He said, his words revealing a great deal.
Su Junhui asked, "Do you also know who it is?"
Su He nodded. "Do you think the Su Family still has any appeal to her? The Su Family didn’t pursue her for breach of contract damages back then. She saved three lives in the Su Family. That small debt of gratitude has long been repaid. Can the Su Family’s arrogance be discarded?"
The name they were both thinking of was on the tips of their tongues.
Frustrated, Su Junhui ruffled his hair. "Uncle, I don’t know what to do anymore."
"Who else knows about it besides you?" Su He asked.
"My older brother."
"And what are his thoughts?"
"The same as your suggestion: first resolve family matters, then formally acknowledge her."
Su He nodded. "Since you’ve told me, I’ll help you handle this. Your grandmother has been living in pampered luxury for too long; she has forgotten her origins."
Su He stood up and walked towards Sully.
Su Junhui followed him out.
As soon as they entered Sully, Su He said, "You go back to your courtyard first. I’ll let you know if anything comes up."
"I’ll go with you to see Grandma."
"Not today."
"Why?"
"Today is your third uncle’s death anniversary. Your grandmother is not in a good mood."
After saying that, Su He quickly walked towards Old Madam Su’s courtyard. He looked at Sully’s meticulously arranged, winding scenery and felt a surge of irritation.
He didn’t like these intricate, twisting aesthetics, preferring a wide, open vista that could be taken in at a glance.
There were too many walls, pavilions, and winding paths in Sully, so many that they irritated him.
Not at all straightforward or comfortable.
Pleasant to look at occasionally, a feast for the eyes.
But living here every day was tedious and inconvenient.
Yet these people just loved to flaunt their supposed uniqueness.
「When Su He arrived at Old Madam Su’s courtyard, Su Jiang was already there.」
Su Jiang glanced at him. "What brings you here today?"
"Today is a special day. I came to have dinner with Mom."
Old Madam Su had changed her clothes; residual anger still lingered on her face.
She asked sternly, "Is Junling still collaborating with Fu Bing? Tell him to withdraw his investment immediately and come home to properly take over the family business, instead of messing around in that disgraceful entertainment industry."
Su Jiang said, "He’s currently quite interested in the entertainment industry, and the projects his company has invested in have also made a lot of money. There’s no need to dampen his enthusiasm."
Old Madam Su said angrily, "So you plan to let him associate with those disreputable people in the entertainment circle every day? What if he picks up bad habits and tarnishes the Su Family’s reputation?"
"He won’t be that thoughtless. Besides, not everyone in the entertainment industry is of bad character."
"And what about the person he’s with now? That Fu Bing has a criminal record. If Junling is always hanging around with Fu Bing, what decent family’s daughter would want to date him?"
"We don’t need to concern ourselves with Fu Bing’s past case. Those who know the inside story are aware of the circumstances of that case. Others may have their objections, but you shouldn’t. She is, after all, your lifesaver and also your beloved grandson’s lifesaver. When you’re badmouthing her behind her back, how can you not remember her good deeds?"
Old Madam Su became even more annoyed by Su Jiang’s retort. "Can’t I even say a few words in my own house anymore? Are you tired of me? Do you want to send me to keep your father company?"
Su Jiang’s expression darkened. "Others may not know Fu Bing’s identity, but can you really feign ignorance? What’s the point of you saying these things behind her back?"
Old Madam Su subconsciously glanced at Su He.
Su He shrugged. "I just figured it out."
Only then did Su Jiang remember Su He was there.
He wiped his face. "It seems more and more people are finding out. Mom, I intend to formally welcome Xiaobing back into the family soon. Before we bring her back, we have many issues to address, especially your outdated views, which need to change. If you hadn’t been so adamant about separating Su Chu and Fu Ya back then, Su Chu might not have died, and Fu Ya might not have succumbed to depression and passed away."
"Now, after so many years, you should have moved on."
"And what if I don’t?"
Old Madam Su thought of Fu Bing’s disrespect at Su Chu’s grave and felt a wave of revulsion.
"I’ve thought it through. I plan to move out with Liying and the children. Su Junxian and Junzhe are both getting married soon. It’s inconvenient for them to live in Sully; they both have villas near the company, which would be more convenient. Junling is often at his film sets and rarely comes back, so he can live with me and their mother."
"So you’re just saying I’m old and useless, and you don’t want to look after me anymore, is that it?"
