CHAPTER 187: CHAPTER 187: STIRRING A TRACE OF MYSTERIOUS DESIRE WITHIN ME

"It’s nothing." I replied simply, not wanting to tell Crystal Dawson about what had just happened with Henry Preston.

At this moment, Ivan Underwood rushed over. He saw the commotion here, frowned slightly, and spoke in a deeper voice, "What’s going on?"

Crystal Dawson hurriedly told Ivan Underwood about what had happened just now, and I didn’t have time to stop her. Although I didn’t explicitly say what happened after Henry Preston barged in, even Azure Vaughn could deduce what Henry did to me by my lipstick, so how could Ivan not see through it?

His gaze grew a bit colder, but he still maintained his composure and calmness.

I hadn’t even agreed to his pursuit, and I didn’t know why I felt guilty.

"Are you hurt anywhere?" Ivan Underwood finally asked me, not pressing for any other details.

"No. Let’s get off the ship and go back." I shook my head, not wanting to discuss the matter further.

Crystal Dawson and Silas Lockwood would need a while before they could leave, so Ivan Underwood and I were ready to leave first, but we were stopped by someone, "Sorry, sir and madam. Due to a jewelry theft on the ship, you will have to wait until 7 AM tomorrow to disembark."

Azure’s act was quite convincing. If I insisted on disembarking, it would only attract more attention.

"Then we’ll leave tomorrow," I said calmly to Ivan.

"Okay." Ivan had no objections; in matters like this, he listens to me more than Lane does.

Ivan and I returned to the room, as we were dance partners, and the rooms were arranged to be adjacent.

Before he entered his room, he looked at me with some concern, "Will you be okay alone?"

"Of course, unless you want to keep me company?" I responded bluntly, not thinking too much about it.

But Ivan raised an eyebrow, a hint of danger in his eyes, "If you’re willing, I can consider it. As a man, I wouldn’t be at a disadvantage."

What kind of bold and unrestrained talk is this? My face grew a bit warm. Although Ivan usually acts as a cool male god, he’s not without desires in matters between men and women, so he should watch his words.

I quickly went into my room and closed the door without answering Ivan’s question.

That night, I slept a little uneasily, always feeling like someone would suddenly break in through the door, and I kept glancing at it intermittently.

In a daze, I slept until morning before I got up and quickly freshened up, trying to perk myself up.

As soon as I opened the door, a sea breeze hit me in the face, and I could see the glistening sea, although the ship had already docked, and the view couldn’t be more open.

"Morning," Ivan Underwood came out from next door, the breeze playing with the strands of hair on his forehead. With his exquisite and handsome features, any random snapshot could serve as a glamorous photo.

"Morning, shall we go down?" I sighed internally at the creator’s favoritism, but I had long fallen for Henry Preston, so I had a strong resistance to appearances and didn’t become infatuated to the point of losing my heart.

This was arguably a benefit Henry had given me.

Ivan and I disembarked from the ship together. Our car was parked by the shore. We each drove here last night, so we would each drive back.

Ivan still had to rush to work, "Drive safely, I’m heading to the hospital first."

"Alright." I nodded as I got into the car and watched as Ivan’s car left first.

Then I also prepared to drive away when Wendy Hawthorne’s figure suddenly appeared by the car window. She tapped on the window with a gentle and gracious smile.

"Miss Hathaway, are you ready to leave?" Wendy Hawthorne asked with a bright smile after I rolled down the window.

"Hmm, what’s up?" I didn’t have much fondness for Wendy, and since I just wanted to get home, my tone was rather indifferent.

Wendy turned her head to look, where a long Lincoln was parked, with Azure and Fern Tate sitting inside waiting for her.

She retracted her gaze and smiled amicably, "It’s nothing. I just heard from Azure that you used to help her a lot. We didn’t have a chance to thank you properly at the hospital last time, so I came specifically today to express our gratitude."

"You’re being too kind, Ms. Hawthorne. I’m not really familiar with her." I managed a faint smile, neither cold nor warm.

Wendy wasn’t angry or embarrassed, she continued, "Azure is young and easily deceived by appearances. When someone is kind to her, she considers them a friend. Please don’t take offense, Miss Hathaway."

So now I am the big bad wolf, deceiving innocent little Azure, am I?

At this moment, Henry Preston’s figure appeared not far away, and he immediately noticed me and Wendy Hawthorne.

He had changed clothes, and under the sunlight, he exuded a sort of chill, looking at everyone with an icy gaze that seemed oppressive. I suddenly wondered how he endured last night?

But that question shouldn’t be mine to consider; it should be something Wendy and Azure ponder over, since they were the ones who spiked him.

Sure enough, Azure was the first to get off the Lincoln, calling out, "Henry!"

Henry glanced at her, directly ignoring her, then strode toward me.

Azure’s face turned pale, unwillingly trailing behind Henry.

"Henry is here. Did you have fun last night?" Wendy’s eyes flickered with a hint of coolness when she saw Henry, but she kept smiling.

Henry wasn’t much better towards her; he didn’t even take off his sunglasses, coldly saying, "What do you think?"

Getting drugged, could that be fun? I looked at Henry; I couldn’t sense any joy, rather there seemed to be a sign of flames of anger burning.

If Henry hadn’t accidentally ended up in my room last night and encountered another woman instead, today’s headlines would probably have been dominated by him again.

Or directly caught by Azure, their photos would have been everywhere, and it wouldn’t be easy for him to get away then.

Azure stood a step behind him, her fingers tightly clenched; she must feel very frustrated for not succeeding in presenting herself in the circumstances last night.

"Alright, alright, if you didn’t have fun this time, we can gather again next time. Oh, Henry, these days I plan to visit Winter. If you have time, why not come with me to see her? I dreamt of her last night. She said she missed you a lot," Wendy said, malice flashing in her aged eyes.

But that hint of hatred passed quickly, almost like an illusion.

Henry’s guilt over Winter Tate never disappeared, Wendy’s words were undoubtedly intended to provoke him using Winter’s death.

"I’ll go alone," Henry replied coldly.

"Okay," Wendy didn’t cling on, elegantly smoothing her hair with a smile, "Miss Hathaway, I’ll take my leave now, talk next time."

I didn’t respond to her, just watched her back.

Azure still showed some reluctance to leave. She gave Henry a deep look before picking up her pace to catch up with Wendy after she got into the car.
