After Rebirth, I Replaced My Ex-Husband's True Love
Chapter 192: Never Go Back to Your Ex
CHAPTER 192: CHAPTER 192: NEVER GO BACK TO YOUR EX
"Zoe, give me a ride!" Crystal Dawson immediately leaned over, "Silas Lockwood can’t pick me up."
She was brought here by Silas Lockwood today, so she didn’t drive.
"Sure, let’s go." Naturally, I had no objections; I wouldn’t dare let a pregnant woman go back on her own.
Halfway through our drive, my phone suddenly rang. It was a call from Henry Preston. I glanced at it and then turned off my phone.
But the next second, Crystal Dawson’s phone started ringing as well, and it was also a call from Henry Preston.
"What do you want?" Crystal irritably turned on the speakerphone and asked impatiently.
"Is Zoe Hathaway next to you?" Henry’s voice was cold after a few seconds of silence on the other end.
"Hey, are you schizophrenic? On one hand, you’re visiting the white moonlight’s grave with Azure Vaughn, and on the other hand, you’re looking for Zoe?" Crystal was both angry and amused, she scolded.
Henry replied lightly, "It’s a misunderstanding."
"I don’t believe you, you jerk!" Crystal’s anger flared up hearing that, she cursed him and quickly hung up the call.
She then seriously advised me, "Zoe, don’t believe a word he says, what misunderstanding? He’s just trying to fool you!"
"Don’t worry, I’m not that dumb," I laughed, "My mom wants me to start working at the company in a few days. I’ll be a working woman soon and won’t have much time for romance."
"That’s good, we shouldn’t revisit past relationships!" Crystal, like an old mother, breathed a sigh of relief.
When the car arrived at Crystal Dawson’s house, I saw Ivan Underwood.
He was talking with Silas Lockwood, his tall and slender figure looked just like a cover model.
I instantly regretted bringing Crystal back.
Once the car stopped, Silas Lockwood came over eagerly to help Crystal out.
Ivan Underwood’s gaze crossed the windshield and landed on me, as if he was deliberately holding back, and a few seconds later he looked away.
"Zoe," Silas Lockwood returned and said to me, "Can you give Ivan a ride since you’re going the same way? He didn’t drive here."
I instinctively wanted to refuse, but Ivan Underwood looked at me again, his gaze was complex and slightly repressed.
I let out a faint sigh, "Alright, Dr. Underwood, get in."
Without a word, Ivan Underwood pressed his thin lips together, but I got the impression he was somewhat relieved.
He nodded at Silas Lockwood, then got into my car.
Today, he had a scent of perfume on him, the kind women use because Silas Lockwood had accompanied him to a blind date.
I drove silently towards Ivan Underwood’s apartment; I had been there once and still remembered the general route.
We both remained silent the entire way until the car reached his apartment door when I finally said, "We’re here."
Ivan Underwood responded in a low voice, then unbuckled his seatbelt to get out of the car.
"Ivan, there’s something I need your help with," I suddenly called out to him, "About my difficulty in getting pregnant, please don’t tell anyone, okay?"
Ivan Underwood finally turned to look at me, his eyes deep, "Even if I didn’t care about this issue, you still wouldn’t choose me, would you?"
Then he laughed at himself, "I won’t tell anyone."
With that said, he got out of the car.
I breathed a sigh of relief while feeling a bit upset, as if I had hurt Ivan somehow, but feelings can’t be forced, and I couldn’t ignore my heart.
When I got home, I contacted the media and released the news of Henry Preston and Azure Vaughn going to the cemetery together, hinting at a possible rekindling of an old flame.
