After Rebirth, I Replaced My Ex-Husband's True Love
Chapter 205: What Are You Thinking? Thinking About Ivan Underwood?
CHAPTER 205: CHAPTER 205: WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? THINKING ABOUT IVAN UNDERWOOD?
"Why are you so distracted while driving, thinking about Ivan?" Henry Preston didn’t seem inclined to step aside. He leaned on the edge of the car window, bending over to look inside the car at me, his eyes cold and mocking.
I looked at Henry, "He’s my boyfriend, thinking about him is quite normal."
Henry let out a cold laugh, "It’s been such a short time, have you really fallen for him?"
"With such jealousy in your words, aren’t you afraid your little girlfriend will find out and make a fuss?" I wasn’t in a good mood and my words were sharp. "Oh right, she’s busy with her business, trying hard to bring down my family."
Two billion, that is indeed quite a lot. It’s enough to start not just one company, but ten, depending on the scale.
Henry raised an eyebrow, "Are you afraid of her?"
"Tsk, she’s so smart, so good at using resources, and with you, a boyfriend who can’t tell right from wrong, backing her up, shouldn’t I be afraid?" I pushed the car door, and only then did Henry step aside. I got out of the car.
Today, Henry was driving a Bentley Arnage. Fortunately, I was driving slowly near my house, so there was only a slight scratch on the car’s paint.
After checking it, I asked Henry, "Do you want to go through insurance or settle it privately?"
"Shouldn’t I be the one asking that question?" Henry casually touched the scratched car tail, as if the taillight had also a slight crack.
He turned to me and asked, "Do you want to settle it privately or go through insurance?"
Of course, I preferred to settle it privately, not wanting to make things too complicated.
"Privately, how much do you want?" I took out my phone from the car, "I’ll transfer it to you."
Henry looked at my straightforward action, his face slightly cold, "We’ll discuss it later. I’ll have someone send it for repairs first, then I’ll find you."
I didn’t mind, didn’t linger for another second, drove home, and the moment I got out of the car, I saw my dad with a broom, angrily heading next door.
I got a fright and quickly stopped him, "Dad, what are you doing?"
"That bastard Henry dared to move next door, I’m going to beat him to death!" My dad roared, his face turning a purple-black from anger.
I patted his chest, trying to calm him down, "Dad, let’s not stoop to his level. I told Mom, if he really tries to mess with me, I’ll just move out so he can’t find me."
My dad took a deep breath, "I heard he’s now confirmed to be with that Azure something?"
"Yes, so there’s no need to worry," I answered, afraid my dad wouldn’t believe me, and I explained further, "Azure started some company, right? It must be Henry providing her connections, starting a company isn’t just about money."
"That Azure isn’t a good person either," my dad frowned deeply after hearing this. "She’s still trying to get Sean Lawson out, but I have people suppressing it, no way will we release him!"
I sighed, "Not only does she want to get Sean out, but the company she and her godmother started, called Astral Company, has a main business identical to our family business, and the company address is even near our main office."
Of course, my dad knew. A company of that size requires going through layer upon layer of approvals; he surely knew even before my mom and I did.
He looked troubled, his tone very somber, "I know, but their procedures and documents are all in order. They can’t not pass."
I looked at the old man who raised me, his hair now graying. He lived an honest life, and the family wealth was mainly my mom’s hard work.
Now he’s about to retire and to ask him to target Azure for the family’s sake... isn’t right.
"Dad, don’t worry too much. New companies open every day, and companies close every day. As long as we work hard, it’ll be fine," I comforted my dad.
My dad knew this well. The die was cast, and he could only do his best and prepare for the worst. He nodded, "My daughter is right!"
The reason why my parents could be calmed down with just a few words from me was that I am already with Ivan, and Henry is also with Azure, so they weren’t that worried anymore.
In any case, whatever happens in the future, our family will face it together.
——
Three days later.
We received an invitation to the Astral Company’s opening reception, and with the mindset of "know your enemy and know yourself, and you can fight a hundred battles with no danger of defeat," my mom and I went together.
We intentionally missed the ribbon-cutting ceremony, only wanting to see at the reception who attended, to understand Wendy Hawthorne and Azure Vaughn’s connections.
I followed behind my mom, and Wendy laughed, "The other day, visiting Miss Hathaway might have been a bit abrupt; I hope you don’t mind."
"No problem," I responded with a distant smile.
At this moment, Azure arrived. On such an occasion, she didn’t dress lavishly. Instead, she wore a simple white round-neck dress, and her hair was back to its long, straight black style. Her pure face wore no makeup, exuding the innocent and lively charm of her university days.
Fern Tate followed behind Azure. For some reason, she, Wendy’s biological daughter, always gave me a sense that she wasn’t as favored as Azure.
However, Fern didn’t seem to mind. On the contrary, she always assumed her responsibilities as an "older sister."
