After Rebirth, I Replaced My Ex-Husband's True Love
Chapter 60: I Can’t Figure Him Out Anymore
CHAPTER 60: CHAPTER 60: I CAN’T FIGURE HIM OUT ANYMORE
I have a feeling that Azure has already developed feelings for Henry.
This is happening much faster than in my previous life. Is it because of my interference?
I wanted to give it a thumbs up, but then I worried that if Azure is friends with Henry, he could see my suspicious action and come after me.
Forget it, they were destined to be together anyway. After putting Bonnie in her place, I put down my phone and went back to my room to sleep. I hadn’t even had the chance to fall asleep when Ivan came video-calling me.
I hesitated for a moment but answered it. The scene was a hotel room, Ivan was sitting in a wicker chair drinking coffee. Upon seeing me, he asked, "How’s Bonnie? Is she behaving? Can you handle her?"
I truly didn’t expect Ivan to have such a kind side. Bonnie is like his well-behaved daughter, and he’s this old father.
Moreover, his question just now gave me the illusion that we were like an old couple discussing how easy or difficult it is to care for a child.
"She’s okay, quite well-behaved, even goes to the bathroom by herself." I replied in a lazy manner, flipping onto my stomach on the bed.
"That’s good. If it’s convenient, could you take her to the pet shop for a bath and regular deworming in the next couple of days?" Ivan said casually to me through the small screen.
"Do you take me for a nanny?" I glared at Ivan, trying to look as fierce as I could, "I’m not going. Do you believe I’ll sell your cat online?"
Ivan actually laughed after hearing that. Both he and Henry are the type who seem very aloof until they smile, making you feel instantly at ease.
Fortunately, I’ve seen my share of handsome guys and have some resistance, so after briefly marveling at Ivan’s good looks, I regained my composure, "What’s so funny? I will really sell your cat."
"Try me," Ivan seemed to not take me seriously.
I rolled my eyes at him, "Hang up, I’m going to sleep!"
"There’s something I need to tell you," Ivan didn’t hang up; instead, his tone turned slightly serious, "Henry and Azure are also here. I heard Azure came with the school band for a performance."
I was silent for a few seconds before replying, "Okay, I understand."
After saying that, I hung up the call, turned over, lay down, and blankly watched the dazzling chandelier on the ceiling.
Why am I finding Henry increasingly confusing? In my previous life, I seemed to know him better. He loved Azure, crazily in love. But now I’m a bit lost. He seems to like Azure, but he’s changed towards me. The night before last, we were tender and intertwined, and he built the snowman I wanted. Today, he’s taken Azure to another city.
When Azure posted that message on Moments, was Henry right beside her? I suddenly understood that Azure posted it for me to see.
I probably already know how special Azure is in Henry’s heart.
I didn’t sleep well that night, and when I woke up the next morning, the dark circles around my eyes were horrifying. The servants at home couldn’t help but express concern when they saw me, but I just waved my hand, not wanting to say anything.
The snowman outside was still standing in the cold wind, the scarf somehow had fallen to the ground. I went outside to put it back on, and with a wry smile, I patted its nose.
Just when I was feeling low, Crystal’s call came blasting through.
"Zoe, my dad’s gone crazy again!" Her loud voice made my eardrums tremble.
"What?" I was startled.
"He actually wants me to go on a blind date!" As The Siren, how could Crystal accept going on a blind date? Frustrated and unable to bear it, she vented, "There are so many bachelors now, if I got married, how many suitors would be heartbroken? They might just do something harmful to society."
I helplessly rubbed my forehead. Crystal was very averse to marriage, only wanting to date and not get married. But at her age, her family was giving her a lot of pressure, and she seemed a bit unable to take it.
"Then just treat it as going through the motions, just take a look. Haven’t you gone on blind dates before?" I comforted the flustered Crystal.
But Crystal yelled, "I’m not going. Damn it, that guy is a bald monk, if sent to The Stone Fist Monastery, he wouldn’t even need to shave, just have a few marks stamped and he’d be ordained."
I almost burst out laughing. Crystal is indeed very talented in the art of biting wit.
"Let’s go out. I want to have coconut chicken to clear my heart!" Crystal said.
"Okay, okay, where do you want to eat?" I asked.
"Donnelly’s, see you in half an hour." Crystal gave an address, then hung up the phone.
I returned to my room, grabbed a coat, and went out.
When I got to Donnelly’s, I found that Leah and Tiana were also there. The shop was warm, and I took off my coat, placed it aside, then sat next to Crystal, "So you’re really not going to date the abbot?"
Crystal was drinking lemon water; upon hearing my words, she almost sprayed it out, then held her stomach and burst into laughter, "Hahaha... Zoe, I find the word ’abbot’ really suits him, hahaha..."
Leah and Tiana had obviously also heard about her blind date, and my impromptu nickname had them giggling.
After laughing, Crystal wiped her tears, panting, "I-I won’t go, I told my dad, if I’m getting married, it has to be to a handsome guy."
"Not only handsome but also well-matched in family background," Leah added.
Ever since Connor cheated and broke off the engagement, she’s become very rational and no longer believes in whirlwind romances. Marriage is a partnership, not a charity project.
"Of course, by the way, Connor hasn’t contacted you, has he?" Tiana asked.
Leah’s smile faded, she shook her head, then looked at me, a bit worried, "Zoe, Connor hasn’t bothered me again, he doesn’t have the face for it, but I heard from a friend that he’s now struggling to find work in City A and isn’t doing well. He probably feels deeply wronged and blames you for telling me the truth..."
Before I could say anything, Crystal started swearing, "What a scumbag! He acts like a dog and doesn’t allow others to call him out? If he dares to do anything to Zoe, I’ll have someone beat him to a pulp!"
"Calm down, calm down, aren’t you easily agitated?" I quickly patted Crystal on the back to ease her mood. This girl is the most loyal but also the quickest to get worked up.
Hearing my words, Crystal quickly took a spoonful of the chicken soup from the coconut and downed it in one go after blowing on it.
When I recorded the video and took photos of Connor’s infidelity, I had already mentally prepared myself for his resentment, so I wasn’t surprised.
Although he doesn’t have the status or ability to easily get to me, a person on the edge can act unpredictably, and Leah’s reminder today has made me more vigilant. I’ll be more cautious moving forward.
