CHAPTER 8: CHAPTER 8: LONELY? FEEL FREE TO REACH OUT

"There’s no need for any compensation scope. Sutton’s leg will definitely scar in the future, so it’s what he deserves. You can chat, I have things to do, goodbye." After saying this, I turned and left.

The carefree days of sweet young couples are limited, just about half a month. Half a month later, Henry Preston will make a strong appearance, and Azure Vaughn is his prey. Joel Sutton will no longer have the chance to chat and laugh so happily with Azure.

Come to think of it, Henry Preston is really a beast.

After leaving the hospital, I instructed Lane to return to Maplewood Gardens, the villa where Henry and I live.

Because the herbal medicine pack I bought is there. I want to get it and take it home to prepare every day. With my mom’s unbeatable cooking skills, I’m sure I can gain ten pounds in a month.

The herbal medicine pack was still in the living room, showing no signs of being touched.

I didn’t know if Henry came home last night or what outcome he discussed with Chloe Payne.

"Why didn’t you get out of the car yesterday?" Just as I was about to leave with the herbal medicine pack, Henry appeared at the top of the stairs, looking down at me with displeasure in his eyes.

Why is he home again? Normally, he shows up once every three months.

Henry was wearing all-black loungewear, extremely simple, but with that face and build, very charming.

"I never interfered with your previous rumored partners; didn’t want to break the routine," I replied calmly.

"Really? Then why did all their resources get cut one by one, and rumors about them spread like wildfire? Were all those just coincidences?" Henry looked at me expressionlessly.

So, he knew everything I did, but he never stopped me because those women were just casual flings.

Unlike Azure Vaughn later on, even when I just wanted to see her and chat, Henry would act like an angry lion, ready to tear me apart.

I don’t deny it, "You gave each of them plenty of money and resources, which count as part of our marital assets. It’s normal for me to take some back in another way."

"Then why didn’t you ask Chloe Payne directly last night? I gave her an apartment, half of it is yours." Henry came down and stood in front of me, towering with his nearly 1.9-meter height, exuding a strong presence.

Is Henry possessed? I frowned. Why is he still talking nonsense with me?

In at most another year, he’ll ask for a divorce and give me inexhaustible wealth. Why should I care about a mere apartment?

"I’ve thought it through. She wasn’t the first and won’t be the last. I can’t deal with them all." I hurriedly finished my sentence and left, wishing I had let Lane come in to get the herbal pack.

As I walked out of the house, I finally felt Henry’s cold gaze disappear.

I threw the herbal pack onto the back seat and instructed Lane to leave.

Back at the Hathaway Family home, I handed the herbal pack to the housekeeper aunt. My mom was cooking, one of her many hobbies.

My dad’s car was also home. When he saw me at home, he wide-eyed handed me his phone, "Look at what’s happening?"

I took a look, #The popular celebrity Chloe Payne and The Preston Group’s CEO exiting a hotel together, denying any romantic relationship#

If they did have something, it shouldn’t be a romance, but an affair.

I handed the phone back to my dad, comforting him, "Dad, it’s all fake. You know Henry is a businessman, and can’t avoid playing the scene."

"You’re still speaking up for him!" My dad was extremely angry.

Was I speaking for Henry? I just didn’t want my dad to get sick from anger, which wouldn’t be worth it.

"Why don’t you go and give him a lesson right now!" I rolled up my sleeves, "I’ll help, father and daughter pair up and utterly defeat him!"

My dad, who had been scowling, suddenly smiled brightly at my words, "You’re just joking around, is this black humor?"

I held my dad’s arm, giving him comfort, "Father dear, don’t be upset. Think about how The Preston Group boosted City A’s economy, won’t that cheer you up?"

"You’re right. Not long ago, Henry donated new running tracks to several schools, contributing to the community." My dad suddenly remembered Henry’s good deeds.

"Exactly." I echoed.

As we chatted, my mom called us for lunch, all my favorite dishes, truly there’s no one better than mom.

This lunch was warm and cozy, but my dad had to head back to work, leaving just my mom and me for the afternoon.

Several of my mom’s friends came over for a game of mahjong, four women at one table, chatting while playing cards. I lay on the sofa and clicked on the news about Henry and Chloe Payne.

Chloe explained that she and Henry were just friends, because Henry was planning to invest in a movie recently, offering her the lead role, so their interactions were more frequent, primarily to discuss the film.

It seems Henry spent a bit again; he’s very generous in this regard, the simplest and most effective method.

Before I knew it, I fell asleep on the sofa until Crystal Dawson’s call woke me.

Seeing the time, it’s naturally another invite to the bar at night.

"Zoe, come drink, there are handsome guys!" Crystal happily shouted on the phone.

"How handsome?" I asked.

"Handsome enough to shock the heavens and make ghosts weep, the earth crumble and the sea run dry. Hurry up and come over, Tiana is already here, Yara is out of town for a small performance and can’t make it." Crystal exaggeratedly described.

Since they knew I was going to divorce Henry, they took turns inviting me, from meals to karaoke, or shopping, keeping busy.

I knew they were worried that I’d be sad and upset behind the calm appearance, wanting to distract me.

I really needed such help, otherwise, I’d keep thinking about past events.

"I’ll change and be right there." I hung up and saw Crystal had already sent the address.

Half an hour later, I set off energetically, ready for the nightlife.

Crystal had practically been to every bar and club in City A and knew where the best drinks and most attractive guys were.

I have to say, the guys Crystal brought over this time were indeed impressive, somewhat resembling small celebrities.

"Bleh!" I drank too much and couldn’t hold back the urge to retch.

Pathetic, seeing a bunch of handsome guys, I secretly compared them to Henry, having no interaction beyond drinking.

Still, Henry is more handsome, no matter his looks or aura, he’s exceptionally superior.

"Excuse me, I’m going to the restroom." I stood up and made my way to the restroom, the handsome guy sitting next to me immediately followed and held me to steady myself.

I didn’t refuse, enjoying the gentle care and attention.

Once at the restroom, I threw up until I almost fainted and washed my mouth and face before coming out. The handsome guy was still waiting and asked, "Can I have your WeChat?"

"Why add WeChat?" I asked on purpose.

"To stay in touch," he replied frankly, "If you ever feel lonely, you can reach out to me anytime."
