After Rebirth: The Alpha Ex-Husband Is Addicted to Me
Chapter 180: Get Out of Here!
CHAPTER 180: CHAPTER 180: GET OUT OF HERE!
Lucy Eaton was amused and exasperated, unsure what to say to him. She looked at the others, "It’s so late, let’s all stay in the guest rooms."
Everyone dispersed to return to their rooms and sleep.
They slept late, yet had to rise early.
During the seven o’clock breakfast, John Green suddenly announced, "Mia and I plan to live abroad permanently."
This news left everyone a bit stunned, but upon reflection, they could understand.
"Which country do you plan to live in long-term?" Jacob Green inquired.
"Country M."
"You’ve lived in Country M for eight years before, and now you want to reside there permanently again. Mom and Dad will be reluctant to let you go."
John Green smiled faintly, "It’s not like we won’t come back. Grandma is concerned about Mia’s background. I don’t want Mia to endure her temper now and then, nor do I want her to have to deal with her own family again after what happened yesterday. It’d be better to live farther away, where it’s more free and comfortable."
"I don’t think it’s a bad idea," Lucy Eaton expressed her support. "If you’ve decided to settle abroad, though I’ll miss seeing Mia often, since we won’t meet as frequently."
"Sister Lucy..." Mia Townsend bit her lip, "I’ll miss you too."
"But considering how convenient the internet is, we can have video calls often."
"That’s true."
The news about the couple’s decision to emigrate was conveyed to the Green Family, where the elders opposed it vehemently.
But seeing John Green’s determination, they found themselves at a loss.
John Green is a man of action. By the morning, he had already resigned from his job at the hospital and arranged Mia Townsend’s passport and visa.
They prepared the necessary paperwork for immigration and were just waiting for the passport and visa to head to Country M to buy a property and submit their application documents.
Passport and visa arrangements could take a few days at the fastest.
During these days, Mia Townsend and John Green temporarily stayed at Blossom Haven, and their former residence was listed with a real estate agency for sale.
As for the car John Green drove, they decided to leave it in the Blossom Haven garage after they emigrated, so Nathaniel Green could maintain it regularly, for convenience when they return.
During these days, despite working every day, Lucy Eaton heard about Mia Townsend’s mother, brother, and uncle’s wife and children causing trouble after work.
They blocked the entrance to the Green Family’s old house, loudly demanding to see Mia Townsend.
The Green Family did not respond until after Mia Townsend and John Green had left the country, when John Green’s mother confronted them, "My son has already quit his job, sold the house, and taken Mia to live abroad permanently."
"Who are you trying to fool!" Mia’s mother didn’t believe it, "Get her out here. I need to ask her what really happened that night! Did she cause her father’s death?!"
"Don’t talk nonsense here." John Green’s mother looked at her sharply, "Your husband drove recklessly and even got two bodyguards killed, and you dare blame Mia?"
"If it wasn’t as I suspected, why was the body cremated so quickly?"
"You should ask the police about that. If you keep causing a commotion at our door, you’ll regret it." John Green’s mother squinted her eyes, "Get out! Or you’ll face the consequences!"
Mia’s mother was startled, calling out to her retreating figure, "Has she really gone abroad?!"
John Green’s mother paused, turned, and replied, "Yes, to Country M. If you want to find her, you’ll have to look abroad, if you can find her."
Mia’s mother looked deflated, utterly dejected.
——
With Mia Townsend gone, the upstairs business of the shop was fully entrusted to Robert Langley’s wife.
For the sake of fairness, Lucy Eaton transferred the ten percent of revenue owed to Mia to her share.
Robert Langley’s wife was both moved and excited and worked even harder because of it.
With their presence in the shop, Lucy Eaton only supervised the financials and verified the business accounts, leaving everything else alone.
It was Friday, and Lucy Eaton came out of the operating room around six o’clock, only to receive two wedding invitations from Michael Paxton upon returning to her office.
"You must come to the wedding tomorrow with your husband."
Lucy Eaton glanced at the invitation’s details and nodded, "I’ll definitely be there, but he probably can’t make it."
"No worries, if he can’t come, it’s okay. You’re enough."
"Mm." She picked up her bag from her desk, "I’m leaving work now."
"I’m leaving too."
After exiting the outpatient department and getting into their respective cars, Lucy Eaton’s first act upon arriving home was to take a shower.
While finishing her shower, her phone beeped. She hurried to check it, put on her headphones, and a conversation began playing.
Grace Hughes: [Tonight, go to the west gate of the Presidential Mansion. Someone will be there to bring you in.]
Mason Baker: [Doesn’t Flora Palmer have bodyguards around her? Can I really avoid them to get close to her?]
Grace Hughes: [Your Highness will help us. He’ll call the bodyguards away. It’s not about actually doing anything with Flora Palmer; you just need to make it seem like something is happening when Your Highness catches you.]
Mason Baker: [He’ll help us? Why? Flora is his wife.]
Grace Hughes: [So what if she’s his wife? He doesn’t love her. Previously, Your Highness had someone forge her handwriting to write you a letter, just to create trouble for her.]
Mason Baker: [What letter?]
Grace Hughes: [What other kind of letter could it be? Of course, a love letter. Your Highness knows there’s nothing between you two.]
Mason Baker: [I see. I’ll be at the west gate at nine PM sharp.]
Lucy Eaton took off the earphones, picked up the intercom, "Lewis, come up."
The other end replied, "Okay, Young Madam, I’ll be right up."
In a little over a minute, Nathaniel Green knocked on the door, "Young Madam, it’s me."
"Come in."
Nathaniel Green walked in straight, "What do you need, Young Madam?"
"Mason Baker will be at the west gate of the Presidential Mansion at nine o’clock tonight. Your Highness will find an excuse to call away Flora’s bodyguard Lewis, allowing Mason Baker to create a false impression that he’s involved with Flora to cause trouble for her. You know what to do, right?"
Nathaniel Green nodded, "Yes, I understand."
...
In less than half an hour, this matter reached Flora Palmer’s ears, and she chuckled coldly, her eyes seeming to frost over, "Looks like Arthur Bennett really enjoys stirring up trouble, trying to catch me with something, but it’s not that easy."
"Miss Grace’s people will impersonate Your Highness’ people to pick up Mason Baker tonight."
Flora Palmer smiled gently, "Let’s see their little play turn out to be nothing; will Arthur Bennett get even angrier?"
"I’m worried he’ll get angrier and cause trouble for you again, Miss Flora."
"It’s nothing to worry about." Flora Palmer was completely unafraid, "He’s not going to kill me right now. As long as I’m alive, he won’t have it easy."
"Once he calls me away tonight, I’ll come back as soon as possible."
Flora Palmer raised her eyes to look at him, meeting his gaze, "Okay."
At nine oh three, Lewis was indeed called away.
