After Rebirth: The Alpha Ex-Husband Is Addicted to Me
Chapter 182: I’ll Get Jealous
CHAPTER 182: CHAPTER 182: I’LL GET JEALOUS
She tied her hair up high; the weather was hot, making her sweaty and uncomfortable.
"Hubby, will you do my makeup?"
"Happy to serve you, madam." He moved the chair to sit in front of the makeup table.
When he was done with her makeup, Lucy looked at herself in the mirror and smiled with satisfaction, "Hubby, you could moonlight as a makeup artist."
He lightly embraced her from behind, watching their reflection together, "Only for you, okay?"
"Of course, I can’t let you do makeup for other women, I’d get jealous."
Jacob beamed, nuzzling her cheek affectionately, "Time’s almost up, go ahead."
Lucy opened the drawer, took out a pair of large earrings, and put them on, "I’m leaving now."
Michael Paxton’s wedding was held at a nice hotel in Ningham City; her arrival immediately drew a lot of attention.
"Dr. Eaton, your seat is over here." The director waved to her.
She sat down at a front-row table, greeting the others at the table.
When the wedding began, Lucy finally saw Michael’s wife, a petite and slender woman, who had a charming and delicate aura.
The wedding was lively, with Michael’s groomsmen causing a ruckus, entertaining the guests.
The ceremony concluded with dining right after.
The bride and groom went from table to table for toasts. When they reached her table, Michael introduced everyone to his wife.
When introducing Lucy, Michael smiled knowingly, "This is Dr. Lucy Eaton from my office, I’ve mentioned her to you."
"Hello, Dr. Eaton. Listening is nothing compared to seeing for oneself; you’re not only skilled but also very beautiful," the bride smiled sweetly.
"You’re too kind." Lucy raised her teacup, "I drove here, so I’ll use tea instead of wine."
With that said, she tilted her head back and finished the tea.
Toward the end of the banquet, Lucy received a call from Nathaniel Green, "Young Madam, Mason Baker was knocked out by our people last night, taken away, and got lost this morning in the Presidential Mansion. He was then detained for trespassing, and his name just got reported on the news."
"Great." Lucy was in a delightful mood, "We can discuss the rest when I get back."
"When will you return?"
"Soon."
After hanging up, Lucy picked up her bag and bid farewell to her colleagues and Michael Paxton.
Back at Blossom Haven, Nathaniel Green waited at the garage entrance to report, "His Highness certainly won’t rescue Mason Baker right now. After all, saving him would imply a connection to last night’s palace break-in. Mason isn’t likely to implicate Stellan and His Highness; he’ll definitely take the fall himself. The only concern is if he might randomly accuse someone and say Miss Flora..."
"He won’t," Lucy replied with certainty. "Claiming such a thing would drag Flora down, but it wouldn’t benefit him either. At this point, he’s not likely to make any public accusations about Flora and will likely use an excuse that barely scratches the surface."
"What will the Presidential Mansion do to punish him?"
"They won’t do much to him as a person since he’s nominally still part of the Baker Clan, but his career is questionable. A public servant trespassing into the Presidential Mansion — what was his purpose? Netizens love digging for the truth. Even if he gives a reason, people might not believe it. That gives us an opportunity."
"Young Madam, you mean..."
"Stellan intends to use her brother to pull Flora from the Great Princess Consort position to take it herself, but I won’t let her succeed. It’s time to make Stellan’s identity public; instruct them to reveal that Mason Baker went to the Presidential Mansion to find his half-sister Stellan. Also, divulge her cosmetic surgery and fake identity."
Nathaniel Green’s eyes brightened, "Mm!"
While Lucy was lounging at home, watching shows, snacking, and enjoying the air conditioning, Mason Baker and Stellan Quinn were on edge, as if on flaming hot coals.
First, Mason’s story hit the news, then shortly after, major media uncovered Stellan’s cosmetic surgery and her role as a maid in the Presidential Mansion.
This was an utter mess.
When the First Lady learned of the situation, she immediately summoned Stellan for questioning.
"Today’s reports are quite astonishing. They say you’re Benjamin Quinn’s daughter, Stellan Quinn, is that true?"
Stellan stood there, feeling her scalp tingling and was about to deny it when the First Lady said, "Finding the truth isn’t hard; all it takes is a DNA test with Benjamin Quinn."
Suddenly, Stellan dropped to her knees, "Madam, I have my reasons, and my true identity... His Highness knows as well."
"Arthur knows too?"
"Yes," Stellan replied.
The First Lady instructed an assistant, "Go call His Highness."
"Yes, madam."
When Arthur Bennett arrived and glanced at Stellan kneeling, his expression darkened even further.
"She claims you know her identity?"
"Yes, I’m aware of this," Arthur Bennett then said, "I also know she’s Mason Baker’s half-sister."
"Did you arrange her appearance in the Presidential Mansion too?"
Arthur Bennett knew that if he didn’t admit it, Stellan would face consequences.
"Yes."
"The news is now everywhere; how are you going to handle her?"
Arthur Bennett pondered, "She can no longer stay in the Presidential Mansion."
"Mason Baker entering the mansion was truly to find her, as the news suggests?"
"Yes."
"Such audacity, entering anywhere they please," the First Lady said coldly, casting a glance at Stellan, "Pack your things and leave soon. You’re forbidden from seeing His Highness again."
Stellan nodded, standing to leave.
"This connection between you and Stellan must never be known by your father; act as though you are unaware. As for her identity, we’ll need to issue a formal statement since everyone knows now; hiding it serves no purpose. She must not enter the Presidential Mansion again."
"Yes, Mother."
"You’re truly foolish," the First Lady said disapprovingly. "You’re destined to become President one day, how can you be swayed by a woman? Does the Princess know about this?"
"She knows."
"You..." The First Lady rubbed her forehead, "You must sever all ties with that woman if you intend to become President! No matter her utility to you, she cannot become a stain on your reputation. Her cosmetic surgery and identity as a maid in the mansion are all public knowledge now; do you think your association with her won’t come out? Especially since you said the Princess is aware, who’s to say this wasn’t the Palmer Family’s doing?"
Arthur Bennett nodded, "Stellan and Mason are useful to me right now, so I can’t cut ties just yet, but I’ll be careful and ensure no one catches onto this."
"You truly disregard my words."
