CHAPTER 183: CHAPTER 183: WHAT GOOD WOMAN LACKS FOR A HUSBAND?

"Give me some more time, at the right moment, I will end it cleanly. I’m heading back first."

"Wait..." The First Lady called out to him, "Whether you’re happy or not, make sure to treat the Princess well. Do you know how much trouble a political alliance with the Palmer Family solves? Don’t take her for granted."

"I understand, hasn’t our son been eager lately for her to get pregnant soon?"

"..."

Arthur Bennett left his mother’s side and went directly to Stellan Quinn’s room. She was packing her luggage, and upon seeing him, tears welled up immediately.

"Are we not going to be able to meet in the future?"

"No, I’ve talked to my mother. We just need to be careful." He hugged her, "It will just be a bit tough on you. You’ll have to stay outside the Presidential Mansion. Someone might be following or taking photos these days, so we might not be able to meet temporarily."

"It’s okay, as long as you still see me, I’m yours." Stellan leaned against his chest, "Your Highness, I knew you wouldn’t abandon me. Only you, my family, and the Great Princess Consort know my background. It must be her idea to get me to leave you. Even though she’s under your house arrest, her family is the Palmer Family."

"I know who’s orchestrating this, you don’t have to say more."

Stellan felt reassured by his words. Flora Palmer dared to expose her secrets to the media, so she wouldn’t live well either. One day, she’d drag Flora down and take her place!

"How come you have time to come over?" Jacob Green looked up at the entering Elijah Sheppard and asked.

"Didn’t you watch the live stream of the Golden Melody Awards?" Elijah Sheppard casually sat opposite him, crossed his arms, and beamed with pride, "Buddy, I won the big prize."

"I know." He asked with a smile, "So, how do we celebrate?"

"Let’s head to Number Nine Residence tonight, bring your sister-in-law along."

"No problem." He agreed readily, "It’s on me."

"It’s settled then, I’m going home to shower and change." Elijah Sheppard got up, waved his hand, "Bye-bye."

Jacob Green lifted his left wrist, glanced at the time on his watch, five fifteen, almost time to get off work.

He lost interest in work, tidied up his desk, and left.

The elevator reached the underground parking lot. His gaze fell on the spot next to his car, where Lily Green’s car was parked.

From where he stood, he could just glimpse the person in the driver’s seat through the front windshield.

Lily Green was crying.

To a younger brother who had known her for over twenty years, it was simply unbelievable.

In his heart, Lily Green had always been this cool, superwoman sister.

It was as if nothing could ever trouble her; any company issue could be solved effortlessly in her presence.

He rarely saw her cry. The most vivid memory was in middle school when a shy boy pursued her, got rejected, and harmed himself. Fortunately, he didn’t die. Fellow students pointed fingers at her, saying she was cold and ruthless, never visiting the boy even when he hurt himself over her.

That was the incident where he saw his sister secretly wiping tears.

Since then, he hadn’t seen her cry again.

After so many years, witnessing this scene once more, Jacob Green immediately returned to the elevator. He knew his second sister too well, proud as she was, she’d scold him awkwardly if he went over to ask what was wrong.

The elevator went up and down again. This time, Lily Green, now wearing sunglasses, got out of her car.

"Second sister, Elijah won the Golden Melody Award. Let’s go to Number Nine Residence tonight. You’re coming with us, right?"

Her voice was slightly hoarse, "Who else is coming?"

"Elijah and his agent, me and your sister-in-law, that’s all."

"Okay, I left my bag in the office. I’ll go get it. See you tonight."

Jacob Green stopped her, "Second sister."

"Hmm? What’s up?"

"If someone bullies you, you must tell me. I’ll bash his head in."

Lily Green laughed out loud, "Who would dare bully me?"

"If anyone does."

She nodded, "Alright, if someone bullies me, I’ll definitely tell my dear brother first, so you can stand up for me."

Jacob Green returned to Blossom Haven. During dinner, he asked his wife, "Why do women usually cry?"

"Who did you see crying?"

"Second sister."

"Is there anything troubling her at the company lately?"

"No."

"Then it’s probably over a man." Lucy Eaton offered her answer, "Even the strongest women have a softer side in front of the man they like."

Jacob Green called Oliver Green over, "Go investigate at Grand Saint Temple. See whom the lady meets each time she goes there. Remember, don’t let the lady find out."

"Alright, I’ll handle it. Usually, money can keep mouths shut."

Lucy Eaton, wearing disposable gloves, gnawed on a pig’s trotter and asked, "What are you suspecting?"

"I’m not suspecting, I’m certain I want to know who made my second sister cry."

"Then what? Beat him up?"

"No, until my second sister tells me voluntarily, I won’t let her know I’m aware of her matters." He instructed, "Tonight, second sister will join us at Number Nine Residence. Chat with her well."

"No problem." Lucy Eaton agreed readily.

After dinner, just as Lucy Eaton was about to leave with Jacob Green, Oliver Green’s car returned.

He got out of the car and jogged to Jacob’s car window to report, "Young master, I found out that every time the lady visits Grand Saint Temple, she sees the Abbott’s son, Logan Moore. This Logan Moore is 23 years old this year and has just made a marriage pact with his childhood sweetheart today. As you know, in our country’s temples, it’s a hereditary system. An Abbott’s son can marry."

Jacob Green listened and fell silent.

After several seconds, he said, "Got it, you can go back to what you were doing."

"Yes."

Lucy Eaton turned to him, "What’s wrong?"

"I feel for my second sister." His hand gripped the steering wheel, looking straight ahead, "She’s been excellent since she was young, excelling in every subject. Growing up, you wouldn’t believe how many boys pursued her, but she never gave them a second glance. She’s 26 this year, and she’s always been waiting for someone she likes to appear."

"According to what Oliver just said, the Abbott’s son, Logan Moore, got engaged to his childhood sweetheart today. That’s probably why second sister cried."

"It seems so."

"A good woman will never lack suitors." Lucy Eaton smiled, "Fate is the most mischievous thing. If you can’t find someone you love, finding someone who loves you isn’t bad either. After all, life is about making it, not everyone ends up with their loved ones. It’s better to let it go."

"Did you think the same when you married me?"

Lucy Eaton turned to him, "No, I was especially lucky. I married someone who loves me, and I married someone I love."
