After Rebirth: The Alpha Ex-Husband Is Addicted to Me
Chapter 188: Love at First Sight
CHAPTER 188: CHAPTER 188: LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT
Watson’s father said, "I also agree with my daughter. I’ve heard that his good friend Lucy is the daughter of our country’s Prime Minister, isn’t she? We’ve inquired about James before, everyone says he’s quite a good kid. I see that he looks decent, has a house, a car, and a proper career. What more could one ask for? If you consider our situation, if before marriage our son bought a house in the city and the daughter-in-law wanted to add her name before moving in, we wouldn’t agree either."
"Dad is absolutely right. Mom is just too worried. It’s not like they’re getting married immediately. We still have plenty of time to get to know what kind of person he is."
"I’m doing all this for you, so you won’t suffer or toil in the future. Since everything is set now, I won’t say anything else. Tomorrow the Foster Family will come with the betrothal gifts. I need to clean the house properly."
"I’ll quit my job at the gas station, pack my luggage, and head to the city tomorrow." Watson smiled broadly, mounted his electric bicycle, and rode away from home.
——
"Sister-in-law, I’ll visit your store later."
Lucy was surprised when she received Lily Green’s call, "Are you planning to get a beauty treatment, sister?"
"I want a new hairstyle. I heard from Mia that the hairstylist at your store is really good."
"Alright, I’ll inform the store for you. You can go anytime."
Lily Green hung up the phone and drove to the entrance of Joy for You Store.
She stepped out of her car with a handbag in hand, and as soon as she entered, James Foster noticed her.
"Miss Green, you’re here. Please sit here."
Lily Green smiled and nodded as she sat down, "You’re Lucy’s good friend, right?"
"Yes."
"Did you design her hairstyle?"
James Foster admitted, "That’s right. I just received her call saying you’re coming, and I should make sure to design a beautiful hairstyle for you."
"Thank you for your trouble."
"It’s no trouble at all, Miss Green. Would you like to put your handbag in our store’s safe?"
She handed her bag to him, "Here."
James Foster took it and locked it in the safe, then started working on her hair.
Lily Green looked at herself in the mirror. She had kept the same hairstyle for many years without changing, as she adhered to a nine-to-five work schedule daily at the company; her women’s business suit became a staple, and she would only wear casual clothes when not at work. Today, she suddenly realized that she should live more like a woman.
She wanted to change herself.
That’s why she didn’t go to work in the afternoon and bought lots of clothes and shoes.
Now she’s here to change her hairstyle.
After sitting for three hours, her new hairstyle was done.
A beautifully curled hair.
"It looks great, thank you." Lily Green stood up to thank James Foster.
"If Miss Green takes off those black-rimmed glasses, she’d look even better."
"Your suggestion is something I plan to do as well."
Her eyesight was slightly nearsighted, but the degree wasn’t deep; it was just a habit to wear glasses.
From now on, she decided to only wear glasses when driving or working and not during other times.
James Foster took her bag from the safe for her. When Lily Green wanted to pay, he refused repeatedly, whispering, "This is Lucy’s store. It’s your brother’s money that invested. We’re all family, so Miss Green should not be too formal."
Seeing him say this, Lily Green didn’t persist.
"You’re welcome to visit us again, Miss Green."
Lily Green waved at him and left the store, feeling the breeze as she glanced at the lights outside, lifting the corners of her mouth.
Returning to the Green Family’s old mansion, as she entered, Mrs. Green said, "This hairstyle looks great."
"I got it done at Lucy’s store." Lily Green sat down and said to Mrs. Green, "Mom, I have something I want to discuss with you."
"What is it?"
"I want to move out."
Mrs. Green was surprised, "Are you dating someone?"
"No, I just want to live alone."
"Why do you want to move out? It’s safer at home. The society is full of all kinds of people, and it’s not safe for a girl to live outside."
"High-end communities are very safe now." Lily Green replied, "I’m not going to the company these days. I plan to find a suitable house and buy one."
Mrs. Green inquired, "Is it because of what your grandmother said about you getting drunk while hanging out with your brother and Elijah?"
"Shouldn’t it be said?" Mrs. Green voiced discontent, "How can an unmarried woman be out drinking like a man until late at night before returning home? It causes your family a great deal of worry."
"Grandma is right, and that’s why I want to move out. This way, you don’t need to wait for me to come back for dinner, or worry because I haven’t returned yet, and I can drink when I want to drink, go home as late as I want, without being bound by your time rules. I’m 26 years old, how much longer will you keep controlling me?"
"Once you’re married, who will control you then? Up until now, you haven’t even brought a boyfriend back, have you?"
Lily Green’s eyes moistened, "Don’t I want to have a boyfriend? Who said I must focus on my studies and not like my older brother, who started dating before completing his education? Wasn’t that you, Grandma? Now you’re anxious about it?!"
"Why are you shouting at me? You’ve graduated from college, haven’t you? Haven’t found anyone over the past few years either?"
"Grandma thinks finding someone you like is as simple as going to the market to buy vegetables?"
Mrs. Green said, "If you want to move out, then move out. Your brother built Blossom Haven when he was 19. You’re already 26, moving out wouldn’t be a problem. Just be mindful of living outside. Go back to your room and rest."
Mrs. Green watched Lily Green leave and said to Mrs. Green, "Look at the three children you raised, none of them listen. John settled abroad, Mia got married on her own, now Green wants to move out. In the future, it will be just the four of us at home every day."
"When kids are grown, they naturally can’t be retained."
"Thinking about the wives John and Mia found makes me furious; none of them satisfy me. Let’s see what kind of person Green will find."
"My thoughts differ from Mom’s. I think both Mia and Lucy are quite good. As long as John and Mia are satisfied, after all, they’re the ones living their lives."
Lily Green returned to her room, threw her bag aside, kicked off her shoes, and flopped onto her bed.
With her eyes closed, Logan Moore’s image filled her mind, hard to shake off.
She had glimpsed Logan Moore wearing a cassock on the street by chance.
Love at first sight.
Lily Green had always been immune to handsome men, having been surrounded by them growing up. Yet Logan Moore uniquely captured her attention, even leading her to follow him to Grand Saint Temple.
She had never believed in Buddhism, but followed his faith from then on.
Through repeated encounters, her liking and fascination for him deepened.
She knows her family certainly wouldn’t agree to her being with a monk, but she thinks that as long as Logan Moore likes her too, she’d go to all lengths to be with him.
But he became engaged to his childhood sweetheart.
Originally wanting to ask whether he liked her, now there was no need to ask anything.
