After Rebirth: The Alpha Ex-Husband Is Addicted to Me
Chapter 208: I’m Pregnant (Part 12)
CHAPTER 208: CHAPTER 208: I’M PREGNANT (PART 12)
Watson opened the suitcase and hung his clothes inside.
As soon as he finished hanging, Watson became very nervous when he came in.
"Go brush your teeth."
Watson was taken aback, "I brushed them in the morning."
"But you’ve eaten again."
She quickly walked into the bathroom, secretly thinking that she might have to brush her teeth several times a day in the future. It seemed this person had a serious cleanliness obsession.
Watson had just squeezed out the toothpaste when he took it and started brushing too.
After rinsing her mouth, she softly asked, "How many times do you brush a day?"
"I used to brush twice a day, once in the morning and once at night." James placed the toothbrush back into the cup, "Now that I have you, it’s different. I brush after meals and rinse after snacks because it makes it easier to kiss."
As soon as he finished speaking, Watson was kissed by him without any warning. Her hands clutched the edge of the sink, her eyes suddenly wide open, and her heart raced.
Her entire body felt dizzy, and Watson felt as if she was sinking into it. The kiss lasted almost five minutes before he let her go.
Afterward, Watson was led out by the hand, her whole body in a daze like a puppet, which made James want to laugh, "Are you stunned?"
She shivered, then started hiccuping.
Embarrassed to death, her voice like a buzzing fly, "It’s all because of you."
With that, she picked up the bottled water on the table and drank it.
"We’re going to the market later."
"Do we need to buy something?"
"There’s still quite a lot we need."
"Then let’s go now."
The two went downstairs together and drove to the largest shopping market in Ningham City.
The weather today was bad, with thick clouds covering the sky and a wind that seemed to predict rain.
James parked the car in the parking lot and went inside with Watson.
He first bought Watson a few sets of clothes and shoes. Watson didn’t want them but couldn’t refuse him. He said, "My fiancée has to look beautiful."
Then, they carried large bags to buy a bedding set and quilt.
Even though they were living together as fiancés, but not in the same room, they still needed to set up something new.
"The carpet, but we can’t carry it right now. Let’s put these in the car first."
Watson agreed, and the two carried their bags toward the parking lot. When they were about ten meters from the car, James suddenly stopped, and Watson asked, "James, what’s wrong?"
"Lucy..."
Watson followed his gaze and saw a woman in sportswear carrying large bags, walking toward a red car.
Her height was similar to Lucy Eaton’s, with hair reaching her shoulders styled in short curls, not as long as Lucy Eaton’s. Her left leg seemed lame, making her walk noticeably.
She had only seen Lucy Eaton a few times, and she couldn’t recognize her just from the back.
"James, you’re seeing things. How could that be Lucy Eaton?"
"It’s her...it’s her..." James dropped the bags and rushed forward.
Watson quickly set down the items by the car and went to pick up the ones James dropped, then jogged after him in his direction.
She hadn’t gone far when she saw James returning, looking disappointed.
"James..."
James forced a smile, "I was seeing things. It couldn’t be Lucy; she’s already gone."
Watson hugged him, "Don’t think about it. The more you think, the more it hurts."
"..."
In the distance, Lucy Eaton forced back her tears, averted her eyes, and returned to the car.
Just now, when James had grabbed her shoulder and called her name, she almost couldn’t resist responding.
But reason pulled her back, reminding her of the consequences of doing so.
Her voice had already been deliberately changed.
At this moment, her face wasn’t her own, but another face.
A mask given by Elliot Gill.
The mask wasn’t just a face; it covered from the head to the upper body.
Lucy Eaton didn’t know how much it cost to get, but it was so realistic it clearly wasn’t cheap.
Her new identity was named Tia Bailey, a name he gave her.
At first, she didn’t know why he gave her a foreign name, but later she learned he had arranged her residency in Country A, adding her to his other residency there.
He held dual citizenship.
He only told her he got everything set up but never showed her, only giving her a residency permit for Country Y.
For her, it was a fake identity, and she didn’t care much.
Her left leg was seriously injured and needed a long recovery, preventing her from walking as she used to for a while.
The doctor said that with regular care and avoiding the cold, it would eventually heal.
Lucy Eaton drove on the highway back to Northriver and went to Palmer Group.
She entered the elevator with Elliot Gill’s private code, going directly to his office floor.
She handed the bags in her hand to his assistant.
"You’re back?"
"I bought everything I needed and gave it to your assistant. Northriver really doesn’t have much; Ningham’s market is bigger."
"Here." Elliot handed her a piece of paper.
Lucy Eaton stepped forward to get it, only to see a series of numbers written on it.
881230.
"What’s this?"
"The apartment code and your bank card password. Have my bed made and the fridge stocked before I get off work, and prepare dinner."
"But this new three-bedroom apartment doesn’t seem sufficient for your dozen or so bodyguards."
"Who said I want them to stay?" he smiled, "Just you and me."
"If many people come to kill you, I can’t protect you alone."
Elliot Gill smiled brightly, "Newhope Commons is mine, and all the residents are my people. Who dares to kill me?"
Lucy Eaton immediately understood, "No wonder, well, I’ll head back then."
"Wait."
"Hmm? Anything else?"
Elliot Gill took a phone box out of the drawer, "I bought this for you. You haven’t watched the news these days, have you? You should take a look; there’s something you might want to know."
Lucy Eaton took it without saying anything and turned to leave.
She didn’t immediately open the phone; instead, she went to the twelfth floor of Newhope Commons, made his bed, and then went back to her room to open it.
These days, she deliberately stayed offline, fearing she’d see news she didn’t want to see.
But avoiding it didn’t stop it from happening, so she went online to take a look.
After looking, she felt as if her heart was being torn open. It turned out she and Jacob Green were no longer married.
Jacob Green was no longer her husband.
She wanted so desperately to run to him and tell him she wasn’t dead, she was still alive, that the brain cancer patient was a scapegoat; he wasn’t the killer. The real killer was someone else.
But she couldn’t do it.
If Arthur Bennett knew she was still alive, he would certainly try to kill her a second time, and even if she was careful, he might target those around her.
Elliot Gill bought her time for five years, and within these five years, she had to do something to make a grand ’resurrection’ for herself.
She wanted to make those who wished her dead restless.
