CHAPTER 212: CHAPTER 212: I’M PREGNANT (PART 16)

Lucy smiled from the bottom of her heart, "Can you help me up? I can’t stand on my own."

Elliot Gill held her arm and helped her onto the sofa. Her legs were both numb and aching from kneeling for so long.

His hand rested on her knee to help massage it, "You’ve got some spirit, kneeling for so long."

"I just want to keep this child."

"I can let you have the baby, but you know I like to negotiate terms."

"Say it."

"I want to be the child’s father, to assume the role of the child’s biological dad."

Lucy Eaton frowned, feeling resistant, "But the child already has a biological father."

"Do you think I don’t know that? You don’t need to point it out to me specifically." Elliot Gill raised an eyebrow, "For the past five years you’ve been my girlfriend. Does it make sense for your child not to call me dad?"

"Can’t you just be the godfather?"

"No." He dropped his words, "Either you abort the child tomorrow, or you let me be the child’s father. There’s nothing else to discuss. I won’t compromise with you any further."

"I feel like I’m a fish right now. Even though I’m still in the water, you’ve got me caught in a net, unable to escape. Although you seem to negotiate everything with me, isn’t this a form of restriction and control for me? What else can I do but agree to you?"

"Not being able to escape is just temporary. I keep my promises. When the five years are up, I will set you free."

"On that day, I’ll just have to see if what you said is true."

"Tia, I will never betray you, ever, because I know what the consequences would be."

Lucy Eaton looked at him and saw a layer of moisture in his eyes.

Just as she was about to get up and return to her room, he called out, "Aren’t you going to have dinner?"

She turned her head, "I’m a pregnant woman. After kneeling for so long, my legs are killing me, and you still want me to cook for you?"

"I just asked if you were going to eat dinner, I didn’t say you had to cook. I’ll make dinner."

"If you cook, I’ll eat; if you don’t, I’ll skip it."

Elliot Gill’s brow was full of smiles, "I’ll call you when it’s ready."

"Wait." Lucy Eaton limped over to him and seriously asked, "You aren’t planning to slip abortion drugs into my food, are you?"

"It seems that you really doubt my character. Ever since I saved you at Earshore, we’ve always been negotiating. You didn’t get the short end of the stick, and neither did I, right? Since you agreed to let me assume the role of the child’s biological dad, I won’t go back on my word or resort to despicable means against you. I’m not that petty."

"I guess I’ve been judging a gentleman with a petty mind."

He reached out and tucked her hair behind her ear, "Once you’ve known me long enough, you’ll see what kind of person I am."

Lucy Eaton uneasily turned and left, "I’m going back to the room to rest for a while."

He chuckled silently and returned to the kitchen, the smile on his face fading.

There are advantages to aborting the child, and there are advantages to keeping it.

No matter what, he would treat this child as his own. The child would be his, and so would she.

He would gradually make her understand that only he would be steadfastly loyal to her.

Only he was qualified to accompany her for the rest of her life.

After Flora Palmer became pregnant, she could eat and sleep well, without any nausea, as if the pregnancy didn’t exist.

Arthur Bennett was well-behaved because of her pregnancy.

He spoke to her kindly and was very accommodative to her requests. For example, Flora Palmer personally cooked porridge for him, and he finished it all.

The couple were as harmonious as if they had just gotten married, with no quarrels or fights.

However, this surface peace was, for Flora Palmer, the prelude to a storm.

She had a preconceived notion of when the heavy storm would arrive in her mind.

It was only a matter of months.

With this in mind, she felt a bit uneasy.

She didn’t know what the future would bring.

"Miss, would you like to go outside for a walk?"

"Yes." She put down the cross-stitch in her hand and stood up, "Being in the house is a bit stuffy."

The two of them went to the lake beside the Presidential Mansion and unexpectedly spotted Emma Bennett sitting on a bench.

"Isn’t that the Second Highness?"

"Yes, it is."

Flora Palmer walked over. Ethan, who was accompanying Emma Bennett, said softly, "Your Highness, the Great Princess Consort is here."

Emma Bennett turned her head towards the sound of footsteps and stood up, "Sister-in-law."

"Second brother, you don’t look well. Are you ill?"

Aaron McCarthy replied, "His Highness has been sick for a while."

Emma Bennett clenched her fist and coughed lightly, "It’s nothing. I’m just not in the best health. Ever since I was young, as soon as the weather gets a bit cold, I start to get sick."

"Second brother, you must take good care of yourself. After all, there are many things waiting for you to do." Flora Palmer implied, "It’s already getting cold now. This year’s winter has come early, I’m going for a walk elsewhere."

"Take care, sister-in-law."

"Your Highness, it’s time for your medicine."

"I’m going back now." Emma Bennett held the guide cane and followed the voice prompts back to her courtyard.

As soon as she entered, Nick hurried over, "Your Highness, did you go mountain climbing?"

"No, just sat by the lake. Why?"

"Aren’t you fond of the tea my parents make? They brought over two boxes this morning and said you should have a taste."

Emma Bennett nodded, "Aaron, keep them."

"Yes, Your Highness."

Aaron McCarthy accepted it from Nick.

Back in the bedroom, Aaron McCarthy immediately took out a bottle with white liquid.

He poured the liquid into a small cup.

He randomly took a few leaves from the top of the tea and put them into the small cup; there was no change.

Then he took some leaves from the middle, and the originally white liquid quickly turned red.

"Your Highness, it’s poisoned."

After Aaron spoke, he tested the leaves at the bottom; the concentration was even higher.

Ethan frowned, "Nick really is clever, the top leaves aren’t poisoned, all the poison is at the bottom."

"Bring him to me."

"Your Highness, you intend to..."

Emma Bennett said, "Did you think I kept him around because he had been with me for a long time? For anyone who betrays me, no matter how long they’ve been by my side, I won’t show mercy. I kept him until today just to catch him in the act."

"Understood, I’ll bring him right over."

Nick didn’t know why he was being called, thinking it was perhaps for a reward. Unexpectedly, as soon as he entered, he was pinned to the ground by Aaron McCarthy and Ethan.

"Your Highness..." Nick opened his eyes wide.

"When did you start poisoning me? Hmm?" Emma Bennett’s voice was calm, without anger.

Nick’s gaze fell on the small cup on the table, and he instantly realized, stammering, "Your Highness, someone must have framed me. I didn’t know."

"Then it must be your parents who framed you, right? After all, the tea leaves were given to you by them."

"No..." Nick was frantic, "Someone must have poisoned the tea leaves from my parents."
