CHAPTER 219: CHAPTER 219: I’M PREGNANT (PART 23)

Lily Green turned her head, "No matter how our parents oppose, as long as you don’t compromise, I won’t give up."

Logan Moore nodded, "Alright."

Lily Green drove him back to the foot of the Grand Saint Temple. Logan Moore got out of the car, and standing by the window, he said to her, "I’ll call you tonight."

"I’ll be waiting."

Logan Moore returned to the temple and went to meet his parents.

"Kneel!"

Faced with his father’s stern command, Logan Moore obediently knelt down.

"From today onward, make a clean break with Miss Green. If you can do that, I’ll let today’s matter slide."

"Your son can’t do that," Logan Moore said, his expression unchanged, "When I was little, you always told me, as a man, to take responsibility for everything and never be a deserter. Now that Lily is my woman, I must take responsibility for her."

"How are you going to take responsibility for her?" Logan’s mother snapped, "You don’t know our temple’s rules? Is she willing to resign from her position at Clan Green and spend her life with you in the temple? She’s lived a life of luxury since she was young; can you give her that kind of life? And her family will surely not agree. Even if she insists on being with you, with the power of the Hawthorne Green, will our temple still have peaceful days? I don’t want to be humiliated by their family!"

"Why does being with me mean she has to spend her life in the temple and can’t do anything else? She can do her own work. Rules are made by people, aren’t they? Lily knows my situation. She won’t demand anything from me materially. As for her family, I believe she will convince them. Please give us time. I really like her, and I want to be with her."

"Two days," Logan’s father finally conceded, "If the Green Family has no objections, I’ll agree to you being together. If the Green Family opposes, then consider this matter closed, and don’t entertain any more thoughts about it."

Logan Moore returned to his room in low spirits and relayed his father’s words to Lily Green.

After hearing what he said, Lily Green replied, "I’ll go tell my family now."

"I’ll wait for your response."

Lily Green hung up the phone and then dialed Jacob Green’s number.

"Where are you?"

"At the company."

"Got it."

Jacob sensed her anxiety over the phone and confirmed his suspicions when he saw her in person, "What happened? This doesn’t seem like you to be in such a rush."

"I’m with a monk."

Jacob wasn’t surprised, "The one from the Grand Saint Temple?"

"Nothing escapes you."

He got up, poured her a cup of tea, "You know the family won’t agree."

"That’s why I came to you, little brother. Help your sister."

"Help you sneak out the household registration book?"

"What use is just the registration book? It’s already tough to get it from the other side. Help me convince Mom and Dad."

Jacob furrowed his brow slightly, "It’s difficult. Your guy’s status is special."

"Little brother, I really like him. I want to be with him. The situation is urgent; you must help me."

"Urgent? How so?"

Lily set down the cup of tea, "His father is only giving us two days. If I can convince Mom and Dad, they’ll agree to us being together. If not, it’s over."

"Ha," Jacob leisurely put on a suit jacket, "His father clearly doesn’t want you to be together. Given our family’s temperament, how could anyone be convinced in just two days?"

"His parents never wanted us to be together. They say our family is well-off; in their eyes, it’s not an honor but a pressure. I’m also finding out for the first time that our family’s status could become such a rift."

"The difference in status is understandable from their perspective. Since it’s so urgent, let’s go back and discuss this matter now."

The siblings drove back to the Green family mansion one after the other.

The four elders in the house were quite surprised to see them return together.

"It’s been a while since you’ve come home together," their mother said with a smile as she knitted a scarf.

They sat down, and Lily gestured to Jacob to speak.

"My sister has a boyfriend now."

"What’s his name? What does he do? Where’s his family from? What’s his financial status?" Grandma Green fired off a series of questions.

Jacob habitually pursed his lips, "His name is Logan Moore. He’s a monk, from the Grand Saint Temple. He’s the son of the abbot, with no assets."

His words created a storm.

"A... monk?!!!" Grandma Green seemed thunderstruck, "Lily, you have such high standards, none of those excellent men caught your eye, and yet you chose a monk?! What are you thinking?!"

"I don’t care about material conditions. I have money, I have a house, and I have a car. I only want love."

Their father had a stern face, "We wouldn’t say anything if you found a boyfriend with average conditions. Your sister-in-law’s background isn’t great, and although your grandmother had some objections, didn’t we still let your brother have his way? But you found a monk—where does that put the face of the Green Family?"

"If he’s willing to renounce his vows, we can talk," their mother said, "It doesn’t matter if he has no money, as long as he’s truly sincere towards you."

"Didn’t you hear your little brother say he’s the abbot’s son?" Grandma Green was furious, "He’s meant to inherit the temple—how could he renounce his vows?! Lily, I’m telling you, we won’t agree to you dating him; marriage is out of the question!"

Lily had already anticipated this result, "What if I insist on being with him? What would you do?"

"If you don’t turn back in time, then just you try! See how long that Grand Saint Temple will last!"

Lily’s eyes suddenly turned red, "Grandma!"

"Even if you call me great-grandma, it won’t work!" Grandma Green snapped, "Why find someone like that, especially a monk? The household registration book is with me now, not with your mother. If you think pulling something like your little brother did will work, you’re wrong. Also, don’t do anything that would disgrace the family name, like getting pregnant out of wedlock. Even if there’s a child, I won’t relent."

"Grandma, this is my second sister’s first boyfriend. She waited until she was 26 to find someone she likes," Jacob lowered his eyes, his voice calm, "As family, we naturally hope she finds happiness. In my opinion, all those titles and status mean nothing compared to my second sister’s happiness."

"Don’t you remember your own actions?" Grandma Green scolded, "You secretly registered and married Lucy Eaton without telling everyone. Absolutely no sense of propriety. What did it prove? In the end, someone who isn’t a daughter-in-law of the Green Family has to step aside."

Their mother hurriedly said, seeing her son’s tense expression, "Mom, Lucy’s no longer here. What’s the point in bringing it up? Aren’t we discussing Lily’s issue?"

Grandma Green glanced at Jacob, "Don’t meddle in your sister’s matters. What love? It’s just a fleeting impulse. Even though your sister’s grown, she’s innocent in matters of the heart. The annual matchmaking event is coming up in early October. Go to it. As for that monk, don’t bring it up again. Whatever you say, I won’t agree."
