After Rebirth: The Alpha Ex-Husband Is Addicted to Me
Chapter 222: I’m Pregnant (Part 26)
CHAPTER 222: CHAPTER 222: I’M PREGNANT (PART 26)
Nathaniel Sutton: [I want someone with good looks, good character, high emotional intelligence, and someone who shares common interests with me.]
Reporter: [Among the people you know, does anyone meet these criteria?]
Nathaniel Sutton: [Of course, like Jacob Green.]
Upon hearing this, Lucy Eaton felt like a layer of dust had settled on her heart.
Jacob Green thinks she’s dead. He’s so young, the current leader of Clan Green; it’s impossible for him to never marry again.
A man like him is a high-quality catch; many temptations are bound to target him.
In the short term, he might stay faithful out of love for her, but who knows what will happen over time.
Five years isn’t exactly long, but it’s not short either.
Anything could happen.
This is her man.
She might not be able to acknowledge him yet, but she can approach him as Tia Bailey.
No room to give other women a chance.
After leaving the news section, Lucy Eaton opened the communication app and saw messages from the research institute’s group.
It was from Director Finn.
[No overtime tonight; Nathaniel Green will be dropping by later.]
Upon seeing this message, Lucy Eaton grabbed her book, slung her bag, and left the house.
Lucy Eaton went to the ophthalmology research institute, using the pretense of returning a book.
She placed the finished book back on the shelf and carefully picked out two more.
As she exited Director Finn’s office and reached the entrance, she ran into Jacob Green coming in.
"You..." Jacob Green was truly surprised, "Miss Tia, what are you doing here?"
"I’m a student here." Lucy Eaton stepped aside, bowed her head, and said, "Mr. Green, please come in."
Jacob Green entered with four bodyguards, while the others remained outside the door.
"I need to speak with you alone; please wait in my car for a moment."
"Sure."
Lucy Eaton stepped out, and a bodyguard helped her open the car door.
The car was still filled with his scent.
It was a familiar smell.
He didn’t keep her waiting long; Jacob Green came out after a dozen minutes.
The bodyguards all stood outside the car.
"It’s surprising to hear that Elliot Gill spent two million to get you into the research institute. I heard from Director Finn that you had no foundation in ophthalmology and had to start from scratch. Can you tell me why you wanted to learn medicine?"
"Because I want to help people with eye diseases. Is that reason enough?"
"I didn’t expect Miss Tia to be so unique. Director Finn told me that you’ve already signed a confidentiality agreement, but I still want to ask you to ensure that this matter doesn’t reach Elliot Gill’s ears from you."
As expected, he came to discuss this.
Lucy Eaton smiled slightly, "I’ve signed the confidentiality agreement; rest assured, Mr. Green, it won’t reach anyone’s ears from me."
"That’s good, sorry for taking Miss Tia’s time."
He signaled that she could get out of the car.
"No bother." She pushed open the car door and stepped out.
At this moment, however, she only had one book in her hands.
Lucy Eaton took a taxi back to Newhope Commons, and as she was nearing the community, Jacob Green sent a message: [Miss Tia, your book was left in my car. Where do you live? I’ll have someone bring it over to you.]
Have a bodyguard deliver it?
That’s not acceptable.
She wanted him to come personally.
[Mr. Green, I suddenly remembered something important I need to ask you. Why don’t we meet again? There’s a teahouse near Newhope Commons, let me send you the location.]
Jacob Green agreed.
Lucy Eaton had the driver stop at the teahouse entrance, got out, and sent Jacob Green a message, waiting for him in a private room.
When Jacob Green arrived, she was sitting cross-legged on the sofa, enjoying tea with tranquility.
"Your book."
"Thank you." Lucy Eaton accepted.
"You mentioned you had something important to ask me, what is it?" Jacob Green sat down.
She placed the book on the sofa, got up slowly, walked to his side, not next to him, but rather to the coffee table, meeting his gaze, "Are you easy to chase?"
Jacob Green paused, "For Elliot Gill’s girlfriend to ask me that question, it’s quite inappropriate for your status."
"Just answer me."
"Not easy to chase." His expression remained cold, "I’m not interested in other people’s girlfriends."
Lucy Eaton smirked, "They say what you see with your own eyes is real, but that’s not always the case. What you perceive might be what others want you to perceive."
Her words carried meaning, and Jacob Green was not oblivious to it.
"Are you implying you’re not Elliot Gill’s girlfriend?"
She smiled without answering, neither confirming nor denying, yet not admitting because she promised Elliot Gill, nor denying because what he said was correct.
"Whether you are his girlfriend or not makes no difference to me. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be on my way."
Before he could stand up, she pushed him down, and the next second, she supported herself on the high part of the sofa, half-kneeling on the sofa surface, and kissed him.
Jacob Green’s pupils constricted, just as he was about to push her away, his lips and tongue were wrapped and sucked by her, bringing back familiar sensations.
He was bewildered; how could it be?!
Lucy Eaton’s eyes gleamed with laughter as she bit his lips lightly.
Right before he regained clarity, before he could push her away, she retreated first, standing upright.
Jacob Green’s face was obscured with rage, "Elliot Gill spent two million for you to approach me. Aren’t you afraid he’ll discover your true self?"
"You might be disappointed, Mr. Green, because right now, no one understands my true self better than Elliot Gill." Lucy Eaton walked over to the opposite sofa, bent over, picked up the book, and went to the door. She turned and smiled at him before leaving.
Jacob Green frowned; her words were suggestive. The ’true self’ she referred to might not align with what he mentioned.
What could it be?
Elliot Gill values her, spending two million on her ophthalmology studies, but if she’s not a girlfriend, then what’s their relationship?
Suddenly, he thought of something and sped out.
Once in the car, Jacob Green called Nathaniel Green.
"Investigate Elliot Gill’s girlfriend, Tia Bailey. I need all the information on her by tonight."
"Got it." Nathaniel Green didn’t know why he needed to look into Tia Bailey, but since he said so, he had to complete his task.
During dinner, Jacob Green’s appetite was noticeably absent.
Upon returning to the hotel and showering, Nathaniel Green’s message arrived.
"Young master, after going through global internet records, we couldn’t find any extra information on her. We used hacker technology to look into the household registration and found that Tia Bailey’s registration is in Sakora Capital, Country A, but she only registered recently. The head of the household on her registration is Seraphine, which is verified to be another name of Elliot Gill. The relationship section with the head of the household is left blank, which isn’t usually the case for registrations. Her previous records, who her parents are, whether she has siblings, came from an orphanage or not, her education level—all couldn’t be found. Within our country, we only know she currently lives on the 12th floor of Building C in Newhope Commons. That community is Elliot Gill’s territory, and she’s cohabiting with him. It’s safe to say that the information available on Tia Bailey is very limited, almost as if she appeared out of nowhere."
