CHAPTER 224: CHAPTER 224: I’M PREGNANT (PART 28)

Jacob Green sent a message to Lily Green privately: [Why listen to her?]

[I already had the idea of going on blind dates before, it’s not just listening to her. Anyway, whenever I find someone I like, they don’t agree. Isn’t it just about wanting me to find someone of equal status? Can’t I find one myself?]

[Don’t be upset.]

[Even if I look, I’ll find a good one, not just anyone.]

[I’ll go back and accompany you to the blind date banquet that night.]

[Okay, I’ve changed my phone number.]

[Send it to me.]

After saving her number, Jacob Green put down his phone, tidied himself up briefly, and went out.

He was distracted all morning and, after lunch, kept checking the time.

He felt time was passing too slowly.

By four-thirty, he put his work aside and headed back.

Due to traffic jams, it was already five-ten when he reached the hotel.

Jacob Green reached the door of the room and, trying hard to suppress his excitement, he calmed down before inserting the card to enter.

Lucy Eaton heard the door open and stood up from the sofa.

She saw him come in with a detached expression.

Originally, she thought he had noticed the clues of her identity, but seeing his expression now, she denied her own thoughts.

"Mr. Green."

He waved his hand, "Sit."

"Did you call me here to say something?"

"Considering your actions last night, I’m quite puzzled. Miss Tia, what exactly do you mean? Would you please make it clear?" He crossed his legs, leaned back, and stared at her sharply with a probing gaze.

Lucy’s eyes flickered, "I even kissed you, Mr. Green. What do you think it means? I heard your wife passed away, surely you don’t have a girlfriend now. I’m putting my intentions out there; someone as excellent as you is quite hard to pursue, but I won’t give up easily."

Jacob lit a cigarette, took a puff, and slowly blew out a smoke ring, "Elliot Gill donated twenty million to get you into the research institute, so I guess you must be quite important to him. Even if you’re not involved with him, everyone knows you are his girlfriend. So? You want me to be your secret lover?"

That’s indeed what she thought. She couldn’t violate the agreement with Elliot Gill, nor did she want Jacob Green to be snatched away by another woman.

"If Mr. Green is up for it, why not?"

"There’s nothing I can’t handle, but with so many beautiful women, why would I choose you?" His tone was indifferent, and his eyes seemed distant.

"I don’t want a title, I don’t want your money, I don’t need you to do anything for me. I’ll be obedient, loyal to you, and never betray you. I won’t tell anyone about our affair, and if you tire of me, I won’t cling to you. Is that enough?"

Jacob’s eyes finally lit up with amusement, "What are you after?"

"Just you as a person."

His brows relaxed, "Sincere, come sit beside me."

Lucy felt an inexplicable tension but obediently moved closer.

He tilted his head to look at the distance between them, and discontentedly asked, "Why are you sitting so far away?"

She simply sat right next to him, her leg touching his, her heart racing.

"Mr. Green, what’s your answer? If you don’t accept, that’s okay, I’ll think of another way. Anyway, I’ve got my eyes on you."

His fingers pinched her chin, the warmth of the touch felt so real, "A beautiful lady delivering herself to me, I’ll give you this chance."

She smiled brightly, "Then we’re secretly dating from now on."

"Of course."

"Dinner together tonight?"

"I’ll have them send the meal up. What do you want to eat?"

"Pumpkin porridge, something light, not greasy would be good."

He ordered the meal, then asked casually, "What’s wrong with your left leg?"

"Had an accident before, still recovering, it’ll get better eventually."

Jacob didn’t ask more, knowingly, "Are you living alone now or with Elliot Gill?"

"I’m living in the same house as him."

"Separate rooms?"

She nodded and changed the subject, "When it’s just the two of us, what should I call you?"

"Just call me by name."

"Alright, Jacob."

Jacob: "..."

Usually only Elijah Sheppard, that fool, liked calling him that.

Seeing his darkened expression, she felt quite pleased.

When the hotel waiter brought the food cart in, she avoided it, only coming out once the waiter left.

Interestingly, she ate this meal without feeling nauseous. Lucy secretly wondered if it was because the baby saw his dad and was too happy to bother her.

Thinking of this, she smiled faintly.

Once people are full, they tend to get sleepy. Lucy wasn’t sitting for long before she felt drowsy. Seeing it was already six-thirty, she planned to leave.

"I’m tired, want to go rest."

"Being my lover and just staying for such a short while, do you think that’s enough?" He gestured with his eyes, "Go sleep in the bedroom."

She didn’t really want to leave. Hearing him say so, naturally, she decided to stay a bit longer.

"Is there a new toothbrush?"

"In the bathroom drawer."

She brushed her teeth before lying on the soft bed.

The scent belonged to him, and Lucy took a deep breath, strangely nostalgic for the days they lived at Blossom Haven.

Back then, they were still a couple, falling asleep embraced every night.

She closed her eyes and unknowingly drifted to sleep.

Jacob looked at her asleep, and lit an incense stick meant to induce deeper sleep without harming the body.

Then he went to take a shower, brushed his teeth, and came out wearing a bathrobe.

By now, Lucy was in a deep sleep.

Jacob rolled up her pants, seeing the scars on her leg.

In that instant, his eyes reddened.

He counted the bullet wound marks, and they matched the holes found in the pants discovered back at Earshore.

He lifted her shirt and instantly saw her disguise mask.

Jacob gently picked her up, following a few steps to remove her mask.

Seeing her true face, he quickly put the mask back on to restore her previous appearance.

She was alive but didn’t acknowledge herself to those she knew; he understood she must have her reasons.

As for what those reasons were, he trusted that one day she would tell him herself.

After rearranging her clothes and tucking her in, Jacob lay beside her, poured a glass of wine, and slowly savored it.

Lucy slept for three hours, waking up to find it was past nine.

"Why didn’t you call me?"

"Afraid Elliot Gill might reprimand you?"

"He went abroad, he’s not here."

"Is anyone supervising you?"

"No one."

"Then don’t go back tonight," he said, setting down his wine glass and pushing her back onto the bed. Their eyes met, his voice teasing her, "Stay and sleep with me."

She raised her face to look at him. Suddenly, Jacob lowered his head to kiss her, his hand naturally not resting on her upper body, but swiftly moving to her waist.
