CHAPTER 30: CHAPTER 30: RELUCTANT TO PART

The two of them started chatting, each arranging their own belongings.

Once they finished tidying up, they teamed up to get familiar with the surroundings.

Although it was their first meeting, both felt a deep connection, as if they had found a kindred spirit.

While getting familiar with the environment, they encountered the coach leading two male members.

Everyone introduced themselves.

Robert Langley, a 28-year-old married man, joined to earn medical treatment fees for his gravely ill wife.

Nineteen-year-old Sebastian Johnson hoped to use this opportunity to earn his first fortune; a million dollars was a huge sum for him.

The coach was a world champion with extensive experience in specialized skills, with expert coaches leading every project.

The four-month closed training was about to commence, and all four members were ready to give their all.

At four in the afternoon, the troubled Jacob Green finally couldn’t resist dialing Lucy Eaton’s number.

But the other end of the line coldly informed him the phone was turned off.

He almost threw his phone.

After getting off work, he tried calling again, and it was the same situation.

Originally planning to return to Blossom Haven, Jacob Green inexplicably drove to James Foster’s hair salon.

Seeing him come looking for himself, James Foster immediately thought of Lucy Eaton; apart from her, it seemed there was no other reason Jacob Green would seek him out.

"You’re looking for Lucy, right?"

"I couldn’t reach her by phone, so I’m asking you where she’s staying now?"

"Her phone’s turned off and left with me," James Foster explained, "Don’t say you can’t reach her, even I can’t; she said she wants to travel alone for about half a year."

"That’s what she told you?"

"Yes, she didn’t tell me where she’s going. Didn’t you two’s agreement end? Why are you looking for her?"

"There’s something I need, but since you can’t reach her either, forget it."

On his way back, Jacob Green asked Nathaniel Green to check the ticket sales at the airport, train, and bus stations, but by the time he got home, Nathaniel Green’s response was that he couldn’t find anything.

"How could there be nothing?" Jacob Green was surprised. "If she went traveling, she’d definitely use these regular modes of transportation."

"Could she be playing around nearby?"

"What’s there to see around here?" Jacob Green didn’t believe Lucy Eaton would disconnect from James Foster if she were nearby, "Try to track her whereabouts."

Nathaniel Green nodded in agreement.

He had just left when the deputy team leader, Oliver Green, came in to report, "Young master, things have gone even smoother than we imagined; the bait is hooked, and Grace Hughes has agreed to cooperate with us."

Hearing this, Jacob Green didn’t have much of a reaction. Every step was under his control, so this outcome was not surprising, "Make a move tonight."

"Won’t you wait a couple of days?"

"No need, we only need the result; the process isn’t important."

"Got it."

Just after Oliver Green left the living room, there was a vibration on his phone. Jacob Green immediately took out his phone to see who was calling, and the excitement from a second ago vanished into thin air.

He pressed the answer button, and a man’s laughing voice came from the other end, "Why did you answer so quickly today? Missing me after not seeing me for a while?"

"Where are you?"

"The tour just ended, and I finally got home. I can rest for a few days," Elijah Sheppard suggested, "Want to grab a drink tonight?"

"How about now?"

"Wow, in such a hurry?"

"I have a question to ask you."

Elijah Sheppard followed up, "Do you love me?"

Jacob Green: "..."

Before he could say ’screw off,’ Elijah Sheppard quickly said, "See you at the usual place, I’m heading over."

And with that, he hung up.

When Jacob Green arrived at the bar, Elijah Sheppard was already there and had ordered drinks for him.

They hadn’t seen each other for over a month. Elijah Sheppard had a new hairstyle, dyed silver-white hair, and a trendy outfit. Compared to his own formal suit, who would have thought these two had been long-time friends.

"Bro, can’t you wear a different color suit? Why always black?"

"Someone said I look good in a black suit."

"But don’t you find it visually tiring wearing it all the time?"

"Nope."

Elijah Sheppard facepalmed, "Didn’t you say you had a question for me on the phone, what is it?"

"Elijah, how did you feel when you broke up with your first girlfriend?"

"How long ago was that? Why bring it up all of a sudden?" Elijah Sheppard took a small sip of his drink and said, "Didn’t feel much, we just broke up."

"What about the second girlfriend?"

"Felt like I was finally freed, if we hadn’t broken up, I’d have been driven into depression."

"Didn’t you feel reluctant to break up?"

"Why should I?" Elijah Sheppard found it odd, "It felt nice at first, but the more we stayed together, the scarier it got. Breaking up was like a blessing, why would I be reluctant? What’s with these questions? You’re newly engaged, is Stellan Quinn breaking up with you?"

"No," he replied slowly, "it’s another woman..."

Jacob Green recounted everything that had happened over the past month to him. After listening, Elijah Sheppard was dumbfounded.

"The Quinn Family is this shameless?!! Damn it, they need to be crushed!" His brows furrowed, "They have the audacity to play dirty? Consuming cow dung for energy or what? How do you plan to handle this?"

"Tit for tat," he said casually, "you’ll find out soon."

Elijah Sheppard suddenly laughed at another thought, "Looks like you’re interested in Miss Yin."

"What makes you say that?"

"She doesn’t want to continue the money game with you, and you’re not willing to let go, right?" Elijah Sheppard was straightforward, "Don’t say it’s just about maintaining this relationship, there are plenty of women out there. If it’s just for release, any woman with decent conditions can be your target. If you don’t want anyone else, just her, it means you’re not just physically attached but also emotionally invested."

Jacob Green didn’t refute his words, "Being with her is quite fun."

"Then ask to officially date her?" Elijah Sheppard encouraged, "Give her a proper status and have a serious relationship."

"Can’t reach her now, her friend said she went traveling and didn’t take her phone."

"Could the travel be an excuse, and she’s taken a new order?"

Jacob Green confidently said, "No, she never relied on this as a profession; she mentioned before leaving to do something important."

"If you still want to spend time with her every day, just like I said, give her a status. Status is more substantial than money; maybe she’d be willing, after all, you’re quite exceptional."

Jacob Green found it reasonable, "I’ll consider it."

"Here," Elijah Sheppard handed him earphones, "Listen to the new album I’m preparing. After a few days of rest, I’ll start focusing on it."
