I once craved this scene so much – to be a truly intimate mated pair with Marcus in public, not strangers living separate lives. Now, all those things I longed for had be reality in just over a month.
It just happened that they all came true when I was about to give up. Was it pity for my six years of devotion?
Or did he feel guilty about David’s incident and wanted to be nicer to me?

The shop assistant smiled brightly at us. “You two look so igood /itogether. Alpha Marcus has excellent taste
for your Luna.”
“She is not my Luna.” Marcus said.
“I am not her Luna.” I said, the same time with Marcus.
The assistant’s eyes widened, feeling awkward. “Oh! I apologize for the confusion.”
I turned to Marcus, feeling weird under his intense gaze. “Thank you for the dress. I’ll pay for it myself.”
Without waiting for his response, I hurried back to the changing room.
(Marcus’s POV)
I watched Elena disappear behind the curtain. Something about her vulnerability stirred my wolf Logan.
When she entered the Moonhaven Wardrobe Chamber to hang up her new dress, I followed her inside. I
trapped her between my arms against the wall, feeling her body stiffen.
“Don’t make a sound,” I whispered, my voice husky with desire.
Her eyes widened in surprise. The scent of her skin – vani and moonlight–filled my senses.
“The dress suits you,” I murmured, my lips inches from her ear. “You’ve always been beautiful.”
I rarely lost control like this. My wolf Logan urged me to im her, to remind her that she was mine. I pulled
her closer, feeling the warmth of her body against mine.
Just as I was about to mark her neck with my teeth, my cellphone chimed loudly. The sound broke the
tension between us.
I reluctantly pulled away and answered the call.
“Marcus, when are you returning to the manor?” My mother’s voice was sharp with impatience. “… father is
back.”
I straightened my tie, regaining myposure. “We’ll return immediately.”
After ending the call, I nced at Elena. Her cheeks were flushed, her breathing uneven. Without another
word, I left the wardrobe chamber.
(Elena’s POV)
I released the breath I’d been holding and followed him out, my heart still racing.

At the ckwood Ancestral Manor, everyone except Isabe was gathered in the Great Hall, Marcus and bI /barrived together, and all eyes turned to usb. /b
Alexander ckwood, Marcus’s father, stood tall and distinguished. Despite his age, his athletic build and excellent bone structure showed where Marcus got his handsome features from.
Victoria ckwood smiled warmly. “Marcus, you’re finally here. Come, your father has been waiting.”
Alexander shook his head. “Victoria, let the boy spend time with his mate. We can talk businesster.”
During dinner, the family chatted about pack affairs. I ate quietly, observing the interaction between father and son. There was a strange formality between them, an unfamiliarity that seemed odd for family.
Diana ckwood, Sebastian’s mate and Isabe’s mother, suddenly turned her attention to me. “Marcus, you’re not young anymore, and you’ve been mated to Healer Elena for several years. Why hasn’t Healer Elena’s
belly moved yet?”
The table fell silent. I froze, my fork suspended midair.
Marcus intervened smoothly. “We are not nning to have pups for the time being.”
I nodded in agreement, feeling a pang of sadness. Marcus would prefer to have pups with Sophia, rather than ollime. /li/ol
Victoria made no effort to hide her disapproval. “The Alpha bloodline must continue.”
Margaret ckwood waved her hand dismissively. “Let them be, Victoria. They’ll have pups when they’re
ready.”
Sebastian ckwood cleared his throat. “Speaking of mating, Isabe is of marriageable age now. I’ve been considering a possible union with the Whitmore Family. If we can win them over, it will be beneficial to the
ckwood family.”
Marcus raised an eyebrow. “Does the Whitmore Family’s temperament suit Isabe?”
Margaret snorted. “Isabe is too spoiled to mate someone equally arrogant.”
The conversation shifted to other topics, and I remained silent, grateful for the distraction.
After dinner, Alexander suggested we stay overnight. In our assigned bedroom, I asked a manor servant for a spare sleeping mat, not wanting to share the bed with Marcus.
Marcus emerged from the Moonstone Washroom, his hair damp from the shower. He stopped when he
noticed the makeshift bed on the floor.
“What are you doing?” he asked, his golden eyes narrowing.
