After Transmigrating into a Novel with My Boyfriend, He Turned Out to Be a Native Villain
Chapter 323: Why Have I Never Seen You Before?
Yu Jiao rushed over immediately upon receiving the message.
Spotting the girl standing at the entrance, she swiftly stepped out of her car and approached. "Where's Wanwan?"
The girl looked flustered and pointed toward the side door.
"She was taken there by those people."
Yu Jiao's expression darkened instantly as she strode toward the side door.
If anything happened to Wan Wanwan, she would tear those men to pieces!
The girl hurried after her, shrinking back slightly when she noticed the swarm of black-clad bodyguards behind them.
"Um... Auntie, there was another woman there earlier who seemed to know Wanwan. She said she’d bring Wanwan back. Did you arrange for her to be by Wanwan’s side?"
The girl was close to Wan Wanwan and naturally knew Yu Jiao, so she addressed her the same way Wanwan did.
Yu Jiao paused mid-step. "A woman?"
She frowned.
She had never assigned any woman to watch over Wanwan.
Could she be working with those men?
At that thought, Yu Jiao’s face grew even darker, and she quickened her pace.
The side door led into a narrow alley, usually a spot for bar staff to take breaks. Garbage bins lined the area, making it a place few frequented.
The moment they stepped in, a foul stench assaulted their noses, followed by faint, pleading whimpers.
"I’m sorry… I’m sorry! We were wrong! Please let us go! We’ll never dare again!"
Hearing this, the group froze.
As they moved further in, they saw two men kneeling pitifully on the ground, kowtowing desperately. Shattered phone fragments lay scattered beside them.
Opposite them stood a woman, leaning lazily against the doorframe in the dimly lit corridor. Her hair was loosely tied up, revealing a slender, pale neck. One arm wrapped around Wan Wanwan’s waist, keeping the drunk girl from collapsing.
At the sound of footsteps, the two men whipped their heads around.
Their faces were a mess—swollen, bruised, blood trickling from split lips, hair tangled, clothes stained with filth. They looked utterly wretched.
When they spotted Yu Jiao, hope flared in their eyes. One of them cried out, "Sister!! Help! This woman’s insane!! Call the police!"
Damn it, tonight was just their unlucky night—they’d crossed paths with a lunatic!
But Yu Jiao ignored them, her gaze fixed intently on the woman by the door.
She could sense it—this woman carried the aura of the System.
She was a Player.
Hearing the commotion, the woman slowly turned her head. Time seemed to stretch infinitely in that moment. Her eyes, indifferent yet captivating, swept over them. Delicate features framed by a lazy grace, every strand of her hair seemed to glow faintly under the dim light.
Their eyes met.
The woman tilted her head slightly, gesturing toward Wan Wanwan.
"Is this your niece?"
Yu Jiao’s mind blanked for a second when she saw those familiar fox-like eyes. But she quickly snapped back to reality, her expression guarded. She signaled her subordinates to seize the two men and retrieve Wanwan.
After confirming Wanwan was merely drunk and unharmed, she narrowed her eyes at the woman.
"Who are you?"
If this Player could conceal her presence, she was no ordinary one. Yet why had Yu Jiao never seen her before?
After handing Wanwan over, Yu Li rubbed her sore shoulder and wrinkled her nose at the alcohol clinging to her clothes.
She made a mental note to ask Bo Jingmo to bring her a change of clothes later before answering Yu Jiao with a smile.
"Considering I just saved Wanwan, is this how Deva repays people?"
She even knew Yu Jiao’s identity?
Yet Yu Jiao knew nothing about her.
Glancing at the unconscious Wanwan, Yu Jiao took a deep breath. "My apologies. I was just worried. Thank you for helping my niece. Are you Wanwan’s classmate?"
Yu Li thought for a moment. "You could say that."
Yu Jiao’s brow furrowed imperceptibly. She’d been careless.
When had a Player gotten so close to Wanwan without her noticing?
Assessing that the woman meant no harm, Yu Jiao stepped closer, her voice low.
"May I ask your name? Why have I never seen you before?"
Those fox-like eyes—so familiar—made Yu Jiao hesitate before she blurted out,
"Have you... joined a team?"
Why did this girl remind her so much of Limu for a fleeting moment?
At the question, Yu Li arched a brow.
She didn’t answer the first two questions, only smiling. "I have. Actually, my boss knows you too."
Yu Jiao stiffened.
"Knows me? Who?"
Yu Li’s lips curled slightly as she uttered two words.
"Xin Hao."
Then, with a leisurely glance at the two men being hauled away by the bodyguards, she raised a hand.
"I’ll leave those two to you. I’ve got friends waiting, so I’ll take my leave."
As the woman turned to leave, Yu Jiao stared at that achingly familiar silhouette. Her pupils contracted slightly.
"Wait! Have we... met before?"
The woman paused.
She half-turned, blinking once before smiling slowly.
"I don’t think so. This is our first meeting."
"But I’m sure we’ll see each other again soon."
……
When Yu Li returned, she found Le Yi and Xiao Jingqu already curled up on the couch, eyes closed.
Frowning, Yu Li crouched down and asked softly, "Still awake?"
Hearing her voice, Le Yi groggily opened her eyes. Spotting Yu Li, she grinned.
"Yu Li! You’re back!"
Yu Li: "..."
These two clearly overestimated their alcohol tolerance.
She’d warned them.
Her gaze flicked to Cen Xiu nearby. Cen Xiu startled, raising his hands in defense.
"Not my fault! I looked away for one second, and they ordered something strong!"
His eyes kept darting to Yu Li.
How was she a Player? Unbelievable. Did Bo Jingmo know his girlfriend was one?
Jiang Xi’s voice came from the side. "There’s a hotel across from campus. I’ve already booked rooms. Let them rest there—I’ll take care of them."
She’d brought them here, after all. Letting them stay drunk wasn’t ideal, and they’d already agreed to stay out tonight.
Yu Li stood, her gaze lingering on Jiang Xi’s face before she replied calmly,
"No need. I’ll take them."
She trusted Jiang Xi’s character.
But with this female lead around, who knew what might happen?
It was safer if these two stayed with her.
Glancing at the other passed-out figure—Guangran—she added coolly,
"You’d better focus on your other friend. She seems even drunker than my roommates."
