CHAPTER 207: NIGHT RAID.

Leo drove the vehicle at a high speed and after four hours they reached the outer parameter of Anton’s territory. The young man parked the vehicle and said, "We are going to take the place on foot."

Bosco, the driver whom Leo had replaced thought that it was because of the unpredictable route that Leo was telling them to continue on foot and said, "Sir, I can drive further, you can give me the directions."

Leo shook his head and said, "It is not about driving farther, it is about the fact that in the past four hours, we haven’t seen a single patrolling unit."

The people were stunned, and Leo parked the vehicle on the side, behind a few big boulders which provided perfect cover for the vehicles. The young man got down and all twelve members of the team gathered. They all sipped some glucose water, and Saunder, the man who was responsible for the negotiations asked, "What is going on?"

The question was directed at Markus, who looked at Leo and the latter said, "I have a feeling that something in our plan is not right. If you had a special route to conduct your business, would you rather leave it unattended? What if your enemy ambushes you?"

Saunder, and the rest of the men began to think about what he said, Leo continued, "This route is spanned in twenty kilometers trail, given the heat, I am sure nobody fights during the noon. This is why the patrol is mission. However, that doesn’t mean they have no means to counter any attacks or monitoring the path."

Markus nodded and asked, "No wonder they can rest in the noon. So, what do you suggest boss?"

Leo asked, "We have small drones, right?"

The people nodded, and Leo said, "Then we will use those small drones to be our scout. If we see movement, we attack, if we see a trap, we move around it."

The people nodded, and then two people began to handle the drone and then the team moved in a winged formation with the drone user in the center. Leo was leading the charge, after three kilometers, the drone pilot said, "Sir, five men party."

Leo raised his hand and made a closed fist gesture. He then raised the gun high to peek through the scope, and said, "Take a knee, they have yet to see us. Kyle, Markus, Saunder, Bosco, can you see the men in your scopes?"

Markus confirend and after a few moments, he said, "I have laser marked my target."

The rest of them also said, "Done. Done, Good to go."

Leo also took aim of the target and said, "On three. One, two, three."

Five puffs sounded together, and the patrol team was taken out. They had no idea that someone was coming over to attack them and thus they were caught off guard and as soon as they fell off, Leo stood up and said, "Dash! Check if they are down completely or did they contact for back-up."

The team dashed, and the drone pilot confirmed that the radius of a kilometer was clear. While the team was checking in, Saunder picked up a wireless communicator and then he heard a message from the other side, "Team Bravo, did you secure the checkpoint?"

Saunder didn’t reply, but Markus, took the walkie and then made a static noise as he said some obscure words. Leo held his forehead as he held back from beating the guy. The messages stopped and Markus crushed the walkie under his feet. He said, "This trick seems childish, but it works."

Leo shook his head and replied, "Let’s go, and make sure not too leave too many tracks, we will hide in the plain sight during the noon, and attack in the night.

Saunder was confused and said, "They will be less alert in the noon."

Leo shook his head and replied, "When their brain switches from the back up to the active duty stance, that is when we attack. Those few moments would be the best time to attack."

The team agreed after some thought and they were shocked that Leo had such a delicate plan. However, after a small chat, they all dashed away in the barren desert and when they reached close to the gates of the boundary, they all hit the deck and stayed their in the sand.

Leo was using his binoculars and was checking on the surroundings, observing for the movements and everything else. He noticed a few watch towers and then he said, "Markus, when we begin, take out the sentries first."

Markus looked at Leo and the young man said, "Are you all laying here to rest? Take a look and you will know, they have fucking medium machine guns mounted there as if this is a nation security organization."

Markus and the rest realized that every moment here was going to be used to plan and analyze, and so they began. Time passed, they remained undetected, and soon it was nothing but darkness around them. They could not even see their own hands properly. Then they stood up and formed six teams of two.

Markus took Saunders and Leo was paired with Kyle. They had one objective, shoot everyone who had a weapon on them. The second objective, knock down everyone who has nothing on them. Their weapons were suppressed, and they all had tactical knives to move without making much sound. The territory inside the gates was lit up but it was dim.

This was a standard practice in this area, the brighter they light the place the more their enemy could detect them. Thus, the overlords all prefered to stay in the dim night lights. Leo checked the watch and then he nodded to Markus. The teams took aim of the sentry towers within their range, and they shot.

Several puffs echoed accompanied by the wind and all hit the targets. Leo mumbled, "Move up, and disable those guns, lest some bastard man them again. Let’s go. Godspeed."

Leo dashed through the gates, and the teams moved through the streets to man the watch towers and disable the guns by removing the firing pins. Then began the raid, silent and sneaky, yet quick and ruthless. Within a few minutes, twelve people took down thirty enemies, and ten were knocked out cold. Anton Greeves had no idea that he was being targeted by a Lion.
