Almighty Father System
Chapter 245 245: Game Of Chess.
.Leo was sitting in the study and he had just gotten off a call with Stellar. He told her something and Stellar had agreed to it, because she stood to gain a lot from this entire situation. The door of the study was knocked, and Leo smiled as he said, "Come in."
Lily stepped inside and she skipped her way to Leo. The young man asked, "What brought you here?"
The little girl sat in his lap and leaned her head against his chest as she said, "I was reading a story, and the Prince was a godly chess player. He controlled everything from behind the scenes and made sure that he would win all the time, be it the game or the situation in life. So, I thought, I want to learn chess. I didn't know whom to ask so I came to you."
As soon as she said this, the system pinged, 'Ping: Host it has been discovered that your daughter wishes to learn chess. If you managed to teach her the game in a creative manner, you will be rewarded with a talent.'
Leo asked, 'What do you mean creative manner?'
'Ping: Host, traditionally everyone tells you how a chess piece moves, and then you learn the game while playing. However, the new players have some difficulty in winning which might damage their confidence. Lily is in a tender age, while she is ahead of her peers in terms of logic and reasoning, she is similar to them in terms of emotional sensitivity. Losing too many times would cause her to lose interest in the game while her logic and reasoning will allow her to find out if you deliberately give in.'
Leo understood what the system wanted him to do. Lily looked at the silent Leo and asked, "Baba, do you not know how to play chess?"
Leo replied, "I do, I will teach you but I was just thinking about how to teach you."
Lily looked at him and asked, "Are there different methods to learn this game?"
Leo nodded and after some thought he said, "Come, let us go and try to teach you, Chess."
Lily hopped off from his lap and said, "As you command."
Then she walked away like a soldier, and Leo chuckled as he followed her. They both came to the studio, and Leo looked around before he said, "Well, alright, let us begin."
He picked up a chunk of clay and began kneading it, and Lily asked, "Baba, why are you kneading clay when we came to learn chess?"
Leo smiled and replied, "Because we don't have a chess board at home, so, I thought we should make one and teach you while we are doing it."
Lily placed her elbow on the table and her chin with her palm as she asked, "I see, you are so wise."
Leo smiled at her and said, "I take after my daughter."
Lily giggled and said, "I take after you."
That said she climbed her little step stool and hugged Leo's back like a koala. After the young man finished kneading the clay, he took a rolling pin and made an even flat sheet of clay. Then he said, "So, chess is played on a board."
He took a ruler and a knife and cut out a big square from it. Then he drew a grid on the square and said, "There are sixty four places on the board for the pieces to move. They are all even and all square just like the board. Okay?"
Lily nodded, and then Lei asked, "Two play the game you need to have two sets of pieces, normally it is black and white. However, since we are making the set for my darling baby, you tell us which color do you want?"
Lily smiled brightly and replied, "Blue and Pink."
Leo kissed her cheeks and said, "So cute."
Then he picked up a chunk of clay, mixed some ink in it and it turned blue, then he repeated the process with another chunk to make a pink one. He said, "Come, I will make the blue and you will make the pink one."
Lily shook her head and said, "I will make the blue one, Baba will do the pink."
Leo chuckled, he said, "What a slave driver you are."
Lily giggled and said, "You know I take that from Ma."
The father and daughter chuckled loudly at this. Leo molded a pawn from the clay. It was a simple construct because Lily had not gained that high level in molding yet. Lily replicated the blue piece to the best that she could and Leo said, "This plain looking piece is a pawn, or you can call it the infantry or foot soldier."
Lily nodded, and Leo made seven more of such pieces and Lily kept up with him. Leo placed them all on the board and said, "These pawns can move only one piece at a time. Like this."
He made a move and showed Lily. The little girl was curious and asked, "Baba, what are the other pieces?"
Leo smiled and said, "Have patience my love. Chess is a game of patience. Those who move fast, cannot stand till last."
Lily nodded, and Leo said, "The main motive of the game is to capture the pieces of the opponent, and the most valuable piece on the board is, the King."
Leo gently molded a King from the Pink clay before him, and Lily did the same. Then he said, "The King can also move just one piece at a time, but it can move in any direction."
He placed the King on the place and when Lily placed her King on the board, Leo shook his head and said, "Chess pieces stand in mirror image."
He corrected the position of the King and Lily asked, "Why this?"
Leo hummed and said, "It is to prevent one side from gaining a lethal advantage."
Lily furrowed her brows and asked, "What advantage?"
Leo smiled and replied, "This advantage is called, The Queen."
He molded a Queen piece and then said, "Queen can move as many spaces as it wants in a move. It can go in any direction, it can capture any piece. If the game starts with the King and Queen of the opposite sides facing each other, it promotes the playes to have an equal chance."
Lily thought and nodded, as she remarked, "The Queen seems more powerful than the King."
Leo nodded and replied, "Indeed. She is the boss of the board."
Lily thought for a moment before she exclaimed, "Like Ma at home."
Leo nodded without any shame. He did follow Snow's commands at home for real.
The two began to make pieces and learn about the various rules and tricks in Chess. Leo always gave Lily trivia facts that made her learn the moves and relate them with the things around her. This was her way of learning and memorizing things.
...
While the two prepared a chess set for themselves. Around fifteen people were gathered in the Primal Mansion. It was a small fortress that the patriarch used as his home. At this moment, an old man around eighty years of age was sitting in the head chair, his stature appeared to be a little bend, but his eyes, they scrutinized the people in the room like a vicious viper who would attack them any second.
The old man looked at Socrate who sat next to him and asked, "Did your brain turn to shit when you let that bastard walk away from the office knowing what his value was?"
Socrate was being scolded and he just sat there with his head down. The old man then turned to look at the five young men and women standing in the center of the room. He said, "If any of you narrow minded pricks have killed him, I wish you come forward right now. Otherwise, that wench from the Luger house will make you regret being born."
He paused to take a breath as he said, "Either that, or you better cleaned up after yourself completely. For your sake, I hope."
The five young men and women didn't say anything. The old man said, "Fine, I will start an investigation, if I found any of you to be involved, I will have your head served on a silver platter and give it to that bitch as her piss pot."
Stellar frowned, however, she was recording all the audio in a small device which she managed to smuggle in. The old man said, "Socrate."
The latter replied, "Yes, Father."
The old man said, "Go, tie up all the deals, and make sure to cushion them. Make as much profit off things like stocks and stuff while you can. The Lugers will take action and it would be harmful to money."
Socrate nodded, and the old man said, "If that wench comes looking for you, do you know what you have to do?"
Socrate hesitated for a second but then he replied, "Yes, Father, I know."
The old man nodded and looked to his butler and said, "Amor, take me back to my study. I want to puke looking at the faces of these dimwitted mongrels who wear my family name. Pieces of shits each one of them. Bloody trash."
Amor stepped up and held his arm while he said, "Yes, Master Bishop."
Bishop Primal, the patriarch and the shadow family head of the house. He commanded unquestioned loyalty from the Primal House members. Socrates was just a glorified pawn compared to this man.
In his study, Amor saw the old man being lost in thought and asked, "Master, do you have any thoughts?"
Bishop sighed and said softly, "These young people, they have kicked off a game of chess where regardless of the result, the losses would be too much. Matilda Luger is not a gentle cat, she is a tigress and a man-eating one. I wonder what move she will make."
...
Matilda spent the day grieving in silence. Just because she gave up Carole, didn't mean she didn't love him. If she didn't love him, it was still her trash. Now that someone took care of her trash for her, she was pissed off, and wanted to lunge at the enemy. She looked at a knight on her chess set and picked it up before moving it around the board and said, "I want results, an eye for an eye might turn the world blind, but then everyone would be equal. Go, get me the head of the person involved in this, Kastya."
The person standing behind her left the room, and Matilda said, "Let the game begin."
