CHAPTER 287: VISITING THE COPS.

The night was illuminated by the Cardinal mansion echoing with joyful jokes and Lily and Leo singing together. After Lily went to sleep, Leo retired to his room with Snow. The young man watched Snow sit down in the bed as she went under the covers and sighed.

Snow noticed this expression from him and asked, "What is causing you to sigh? Are you not happy about this?"

Leo quickly shook his head like a rattle and replied, "You misunderstood me. I am so happy that I cannot even express it with words. Just now I was relieved. All those years on the bed, I have seen you struggle and keep doing your best for Lily, for me, and for us. I never said this but I always felt guilty of not being able to show you the care and love I should have during those days. This news, it not only brings me joy but also the chance to make up for the last time."

Snow smiled at him, how could she not know what kind of a person her husband was? All those years in the bed, whenever she had to exert herself, the corner of his eyes would be wet and filled with remorse. She knew how it angonized him to see her suffer, but it was what it was. She was happy to have him present in her life even if he could not help her.

Snow beckoned him close, and after Leo got inside the bed, she said, "You don’t have to think this much, everything has a way of working out, and we all should trust in the process."

She snuggled into his embrace and replied, "It will be just a little more smooth with you here."

Leo smiled and said, "Always the optimistic one, huh."

Snow smiled but didn’t answer, she closed her eyes, and just then she sensed Leo gently rubbing her back, and said, "Just so you know, no funny business till the child arrives."

Leo suddenly sighed and replied, "I knew it was not easy to have children."

Snow chuckled and after joking around with each other for a bit, the young lady fell asleep.

Leo thought for a bit and wondered what he could use to express his joy and also gain good karma to boost the fortune of the second child. After an hour of thinking he understood what he should do.

In the morning, Leo woke up according to his bio clock and walked out of the house. He found Jock on the duty and said, "Jock, come let us go for a long run today."

Jock nodded and then followed him. The guards on the night shifts all wore black and gray tracksuits to be comfortable when they need to reach quickly. Jock had a gun strapped inside his holster, but thankfully Leo carried the gun license on his person always. The two of them were leaving the house, when Leo sensed a resentful gaze on his back.

He turned around and found the pouting princess. Lily walked up to him and asked, "Where are you going without me?"

Leo chuckled and said, "Your Highness, I thought you would be sleeping in today. I apologize, would you honor me with your company?"

Lily snorted and then began running ahead of him. After a few minutes, Leo picked her up and placed her on his shoulders. He gestured to one of Jock’s subordinate to take the lead and then ran along with Jock beside him, and another guy in the back. When Lily was out of the house, Leo never risked it.

Lily watched the scenery change and asked, "Baba, where are we going?"

Leo replied, "We are going to the City Police Office, I have some work there."

Lily nodded and watched, they reached the police station in half an hour. The police office was like a tiny relay point used by the Precinct to monitor the different zones of the city. The officers were posted in these offices during their shifts and patrols to make the distance more commutable and processing faster.

After they reached the building, Leo put Lily on the ground and held her hand as they walked through the gates. As soon as they did that, the cops who had just changed their shifts turned to look at them. Lily felt a little intimidated, and held Leo’s palm a little tighter before the young man patted her head and said, "Don’t worry, Baba is here."

Lily calmed down and then Leo walked up to the reception counter. The lady officer on duty scrutinized him, and wanted to ask the purpose of his visit but the young man replied by taking out the Gun License, and said, "Jock, submit your guns here, we can collect them when heading back."

Jock nodded, and before anyone could even react, three guards placed three automatic pistols on the counter. A veteran opened his eyes wide and said, "Surround them!"

In a blink ten cops surrounded them, and Leo gazed coldly at the man as he said, "Officer, did you not see the license I showed?"

His cold voice woke up the veteran and he realized that he had panicked. The areas that this office watched over was relatively calm, the rich never had big disputes in the open. He took a deep breath and then his gaze fell on the orange sigil pin worn by Leo on the round collar of his sports shirt.

The veteran said, "Apologies sir. I panicked a little. However, please allow us to perform a general search on you."

Leo nodded and the men used metal detectors to search them. The cops sighed in relief when they found that the people only carried these guns. The lady officer asked, "What can I help you with?"
