CHAPTER 296: HANDLING THE DEATH THREAT.

Leo sat in the living room after the morning workout, he received the word from Kyle that Markus has landed in the Angkor City and he is coming over to meet him. So, Leo decided to wait for his arrival. Last night, Leo received a message from the automated probe he set up, that the target of his scrutiny has appeared near the borders of the Clover Nation.

Lily walked up to him and asked, "Baba, you are still lost in thoughts. What is it that is occupying your mind more than me and Ma?"

Leo smiled at her and pulled her in his embrace as he remarked, "Cheeky Goblin, you are getting naughtier with every passing day. I am just thinking about a meeting."

At this moment, the bell rang, and Lily asked, "Who could it be at such an early hour?"

Leo replied calmly, "It must be your Uncle Markus. Also, young miss, you have school to attend. Go get ready."

Lily nodded obediently and Leo pecked her forehead before he let her go. As Lily dashed away, Leo got up to check the door, and he found Markus standing outside, covered in snowflakes. Leo asked with a faint smile, "Did you not hear about the cold weather?"

Markus was shivering as he shook his head. Leo waved his hand and brought him inside the house, before the young man took a deep breath and said, "Sit down here, I will get you something warm to drink."

Markus said, "Sir, a drink of rum would do."

Leo rolled his eyes and said, "Where do you think I would get liquor in the house? I have a child. Have some hot chocolate."

The young man took a deep breath and replied, "Fine."

Leo soon came to fetched him a warm cup of hot chocolate. He said, "Do you know that Silent Shadow has entered the border?"

Markus took a sip before he raised his head with a shocked expression and asked, "Wait a minute, did you identify him?"

Leo nodded softly and said, "It’s a her."

Markus sucked in a cold breath and said, "Sir, we have to catch her alive."

Leo raised his brow and asked, "What is your reasoning behind this?"

Markus spoke in an excited manner, "Sir, her techniques could be really good for us. If we managed to learn the secret of her trade, we could do our jobs more efficiently."

Leo shook his head and replied, "No need, I can tell you how to dispose of the bodies if you want to but that is not necessary for the moment. At this moment, her focus is me, and even if she has not managed to find out my identity, she has managed to narrow it down to the fact that Death Gaze is from the Clover Nation. Her intelligence is higher than the normal people."

Markus nodded and replied, "Yes, that is for sure. However, what is our end game now?"

Leo picked up his phone and transferred him the details of the target and replied, "Let’s catch her. The using a sniper and use tranquilizers. I don’t mind if you shoot her limbs to immobilize her."

Markus scratched the back of his head and asked, "Why catch her? Can’t we directly just be done with her?"

Leo glared at her and the next moment, Lily came out of the room, "Good morning, Uncle Markus."

Markus smiled sheepishly and replied, "Good morning, Young miss. Have you been well?"

Lily nodded and replied, "Yes, I have been well. How about you Uncle Markus?"

Markus thanked her for the concern and Lily asked, "Baba, shall I go to school with mom today?"

Leo stood up from the couch and said, "No, I will take you along with Uncle Markus. Come, you Ma will go to the office late."

Markus stood up and Leo took his keys and said, "Come."

Leo went to find Snow and told her that he was off to handle some business at the edge of the border. Snow had decided to sleep in for the day, the effects of pregnancy were showing up. After a few minutes, Leo drove her to the school while Markus sat in the passenger seat. Lily was reading something on her tab and said, "Baba, why is gold stock rising so much?"

Leo replied, "The government has made some breakthrough in research project and so they are stocking it up. Which is causing a shortage of gold in the market, and the result is rising prices."

Lily hummed and said, "For the Festival next week, can we gift the people who work in the company with some gold? If the prices keep rising the common people will find it hard to buy gold in the future."

Leo shook his head and said, "It is not possible. Their is not enough gold in the market, and if we buy out such a huge quantity at one time, that will cause even more inflation."

Lily thought for a bit while humming and replied, "Baba, how about we gift them a unit of gold stock? This way they can keep it till it rises, and later on sale it."

Leo smiled and replied, "Fine, I will see to it. Instead of bonus, people will get gold stock units."

After a while they reached the school and Leo dropped Lily at the door, with Zeenat looking over her. The teachers welcomed her very warmly and Lily was surprised. The two young men moved inside the car, and Markus asked, "Sir, what shall we do now?"

Leo took a deep breath and replied, "I am booking a helicopter and we are going to hunt this Silent Shadow."

Markus nodded and then he said, "I will arrange it, sir."

Leo agreed to his words, and drove to airport. Markus guided Leo through a special corridor, and then they met with a guy who rented out a nice fast helicopter. After a few minutes, the permissions were complete and Markus took the controls. Leo sat in the back and then he opened a laptop in the back seat.

He has located Silent Shadow and since then it was a constant tracking sequence. The young man thought about it a bit and then asked, "Markus, where is the gun?"

Markus replied, "Sir, it is under the seat."

Leo bent down and felt under the seat. Then he pulled the box out of the seat and began to carefully sat up the weapon after cleaning it. He sighed and said, "Markus, you surely are a radical. Where the fuck are tranquilizers?"

Markus didn’t reply, he focused on flying. Leo shook his head as he loaded the magazine and then gave Markus the coordinates to locate the target. Silent Shadow was very smart, she was moving around the place on foot to avoid detection.

After three hours, they reached close to the border and the young man said, "Sir, we have reached, what now?"

Leo replied calmly, "Check how much fuel we have and then scour the place. Use thermal imaging. Avoid circling in one location. We don’t want to rouse the snake."

Markus nodded and after one more hour of patrolling he said, "Sir, I located her. She is running towards the east."

Leo said, "Move ten kilometers east and find a landing spot. Then drop me off, and take off to find the nearest airport, refuel and come back to find me."

He looked around and couldn’t find any flares or smoke, and said, "Meet me back at the landing spot."

Markus nodded and followed the instructions, he came to understand Leo’s efficiency one more time. Leo landed on the ground and then he began to run. His speed and senses were heightened and even normal people could not match it. Leo climbed the tallest tree and then he jumped from one crown to the other in a blinking speed.

After just a few minutes, he covered the distance of four kilometers. He sat on the tallest tree and regulated his breathing, waiting for the target to appear in his sight. He narrowed his gaze, but he found it somewhat unreliable. He decided to open the system store and after a few minutes, when he found the item that could help him. Leo decided to splurge without caring.

Then a specialized eyewear appeared in his hand. He wore the glasses and said, "Thermal Vision."

The next moment, everything changed, and he could see the world in a thermal vision. Sure enough, he could locate a shadow running around the forest hiding in the cover of trees. The speed of the target was slightly faster but it wasn’t anything much.

He raised his gun and took aim. However, he was in no hurry to take the shot. Only when the lady was properly recognized, did Leo squeeze the trigger.

Bang!

The target flinched, but how could a human be faster than a bullet that shot at them unexpectedly. Another thing that Leo took into account was the scope of movement. He fired to the spot where the target would move to evade, and bang on, the bullet hit the target and blood splattered.

Leo didn’t move instantly. He waited for a few minutes to confirm the target was really injured. He didn’t forget that when the lady first failed, she managed to escape with a stabbed liver and open stomach. He didn’t overestimate himself by thinking that a bullet would be able to stop her from moving.

Sure enough, after ten minutes, Leo spotted the lady using her elbows to prop herself up and crawl along the ground. Leo sneered and then shot once again. This time, the bullet hit the left leg, and followed by this, he made two more shots. He directly took out the limbs of the person before getting down the tree and called Markus.
