CHAPTER 309: DADDY SHINES.

Lily sharply replied to Harry’s snide remarks, she had already shocked the people. One of the cronies behind Harry rebuked, "Is that how noble children behave? Disrespecting an elder. You little freak, shut your mouth, or I would discipline you instead of your parents."

This man spoke very loudly, and this time Lily didn’t have the time to reply. Leo pulled her behind him and looked coldly at the man before he said, "I would like you to try and discipline my daughter. I dare you to take one more step towards her."

The people sensed the room turn colder as Leo spoke. Stefan, Miss Granger, and the few others who stood beside him were shocked. They didn’t think that Leo would be so cold when it came to losing temper. Leo looked at Harry Shrine and replied, "Do you think I am unaware of these cheap tactics that you and your bellboys are using here? You think that just because Snow refused you and married me back then you have been wronged and now like a child that you are, you are targeting me and my daughter. Right?"

Leo paused slightly and said, "The reason I refrained from replying to your comments was because I have a standard. I make friends and enemies with certain people. You aren’t worth that kind of attention from me."

His words shocked the people and even Harry couldn’t believe that this guy would rebuke him publicly. Leo continued after a pause, "If you have any conflicts with me, feel free to come up like a noble gentleman that you think you are, and not like this. Trying to intimidate my daughter."

Then he turned to look at Stefan Grimm and said, "Master Grimm, I apologize for the trouble and fiasco I have created under your roof. As a guest, I have embarrassed myself and I seek your forgiveness."

That said, Leo bowed to Stefan Grimm slightly before he said, "If it is a trouble, then I would leave right now."

Although Lily didn’t want to, but she would follow her father’s decision. She bowed to Stefan Grimm slightly as well and said, "I apologize for speaking out of term. I have dampened the mood of everyone present. Please forgive me."

Miss Granger saw this and she quickly walked over to console the child when Susan Grimm said, "Lily, child you didn’t say anything wrong. Don’t lower your head. We have always been taught to fight for our rights, and you did just that. No one is blaming you."

As she said that, all the women nodded subtly before Harry Shrine remarked, "What a good show it is, you insult someone and apologize to someone else. What a good tactic."

Leo raised his head and looked at Harry Shrine with a deadpan gaze as he asked softly, "I am apologizing to the host who invited me in his house, while you, I think of you as a bot fly that needs to be shown out for buzzing too much and causing trouble for everyone."

Harry Shrine clenched his fist and wanted to say something when Stefan Grimm said, "Mister Shrine, it was you who started the remarks and everyone can testify to that, so, I want to ask you, what do you mean by saying such things here? Are you trying to disrespect me, the host of the event?"

Harry Shrine realized that Stefan was dead set on siding with Leo, and his actions have been reversed completely. He didn’t wish to lower himself, but he could not just stand there as well.

One of the old nobles on the side said, "Well, Master Grimm, let us not fret over such an issue. These are both young people and sometimes they lose their control. Be the bigger person, and Mister Cardinal, you are our guest and I personally apologize to you for this situation. I think you are elder than Harry, just forgive him, for my sake."

Leo looked at the person, he wanted to ask who the fuck he was to ask him to forgive Harry. However, he sensed Lily squeeze his palm and he nodded silently. He didn’t turn to look at Harry, and Stefan said, "On behalf of Master Hyno, I will let this slide, but please mind yourself, Young master Shrine, the media will not waste a second to publish this in the morning post."

As he said this, he didn’t wait for Harry to react and calmly led Leo and the rest of the guests towards the garden. Harry Shrine and his cronies were left out behind. They all were first shocked, and then they were collectively enraged. How dare these people avoid them for the sake of an upstart.

They wanted to gaslit Harry but when they saw his pale face, they all calmed down as it was no longer needed. However, more than Leo, Harry was pissed off at Lily. That little girl dared to talk back to him and insult him like this. He wanted to slap her but he held back because of his image.

Leo and Lily sat down on the same table as the higher ups of the Grimm Family. Leo was introduced to Stefan’s eldest daughter, who was close to him in age, Margaret Grimm, and the girl had taken a liking to Lily.

Stefan sighed and said, "Mister Cardinal, please don’t sour your mood over that wastrel."

Leo shook his head and said with a serious expression, "He is not worthy enough to gain that much attention from me, but since he dared to speak like that about my daughter and my family, before I leave, I will make him pay the price that he would never forget."

The people were surprised by his words, they could see that Leo was really serious. In his words, even if Harry wasn’t worthy of attention, he would be punished. Stefan shook his head, it had nothing to do with him whether Leo killed Harry or vice versa, he was only focused on handling his things at the moment.

Stefan looked to the butler attending to them on the side, and then Miss Granger stepped on the stage placed on the side. The young lady smiled and said, "Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you for gracing this charity gala with your presence. I, Emilia Granger, am thankful for your support, and with that, let us proceed forward with the event. Tonight is organized to entertain the gracious souls who shared a piece of their fortune with the world in order to make it a better place."

The people clapped and after they stopped, Emilia Granger continued, "The first act on the list is a dance performance from the boy band, ElmStreet Boys. Please give them a big hand."

Then followed a series of performances, the last performance was from the world renowned pianist, Mori Hakase, he was an icon who still carried the torch of classical pianist. The artist played a soothing piece and the people applauded. Then Emilia Granger walked up to him and said, "Maestro Hakase, thank you for the wonderful performance."

Hakase smiled and replied, "It was an honor for me to play tonight."

Lily looked at Leo and said, "Baba, did you hear it?"

Leo looked at her and so did the elders on the table. Leo didn’t say anything and nodded silently. Margaret asked, "Lily, what do you mean? We all her the performance."

Lily shook her head and said, "Maestro Hakase has a distinctive style to play, when the piece is running to the end, the melody shifts, he moves towards the bass. That is the usual thing but tonight he played it towards the lower part."

The people were surprised, since there was no music and Lily spoke normally, mostly all the people heard her and turned to look at her. On the stage, Hakase was shocked as well. He couldn’t help but speak, "Indeed, that was the case. I sprained my left hand and so I decided to play it differently."

The people were astounded that Lily managed to pick up the change. Miss Granger said, "Well, Young Miss Cardinal is indeed quite talented."

Maestro Hakase asked, "Young Miss, who is your teacher? To have trained a child prodigy, he must be a master himself."

Lily smiled and replied, "Yes, indeed, my father, he is my teacher."

The people were surprised, and Hakase understood that Lily was not lying. He was just thinking about complimenting Leo, a discordant voice sounded from the side, "Since Master Cardinal is so talented, why not have him play a song for us?"

He signaled his cronies and they all began to cheer, they wanted Leo to make a fool out of himself. Stefan Grimm frowned and Lily turned to Leo and said, "Baba, it has been some days since you played the War Song."

Leo chuckled, in his mind, the system said, ’Ping: Host, your daughter wishes to hear the war song. She intends to convey a message to those who keep raising a ruckus for you, that the war is on.’

Leo smiled and replied, "Fine, since that is what you desire."
