Chapter 326: Lion’s Tail.
CHAPTER 326: LION’S TAIL.
While Leo waited for his team to assemble, he made a call to Matilda. He was using a satellite phone and it was connected to his laptop. Using the relay method, he directly masked his phone signal to be in the region of the Cardinal mansion.
The call rang for a bit before the other side answered, and Leo greeted, "Hello, Miss Luger."
His fingers danced on the keypad of the laptop as he typed a few command codes. The lady on the other side asked, "What do you want?"
Leo asked, "Nothing much, I wanted to as if you have a specific region designated for the confrontation. After all, Elsa Mountain Range is so big that we might not be find each other even if we take three days, let alone one."
Matilda hummed for a moment and said, "Peak Lion Mouth, that is where we can have our confrontation. If that is all, goodbye, see you on the judgement day."
As soon as the words dropped the call was disconnected. Leo smirked as he pressed the enter button, while he muttered, "Indeed, see you on the judgement day."
He had transmitted a miniscule pinging malware in her mobile using the connection of the signal. He was not planning on playing fair at all, after all, he wasn’t the god of justice.
...
Matilda was sitting in a luxury car that was driving through the icy terrains of the same city where Leo was located, she had just reached the destination and was heading out to meet with her team when Leo called her. She disconnected the call quickly before she turned to the young man sitting beside her and asked, "Did you track him?"
The man nodded and said, "He was masking it but he is still in the Angkor Nation. His jet is scheduled to fly tomorrow and his guards were spotted purchasing a few things for cold weather here."
Matilda nodded and turned to look outside the window as her eyes flashed with a killing intent. She wanted to end this feud once and for all, even at the cost of her own life.
...
Leo used his laptop to track where Matilda was located, and then he hacked into the CCTV network of the city and waited to run the facial scans of the people who meet Matilda through the various agencies and find out the details of the people that were going to be her team members.
He sorted his stuff and then leaned back in the chair to calmly wait. It didn’t take long for the sun to go down, and evening approached. Markus came over and said, "Sir, I found that Matilda Luger is here as well."
Leo didn’t say anything only pointed at the screen of his laptop. Markus looked at the display and he was shocked. To think this guy had the target under monitoring. He took a deep breath and said, "Our team is gathered here as well."
Leo nodded and said, "Bring them over."
Markus went out of the room and soon came back with nine people. Six males and three females. Leo nodded and said, "Have a seat, give me your names or call signs."
The people nodded and introduced themselves as they sat down around the suite. Leo said, "They have decided to set the Lion Mouth as a point for confrontation."
He stood up and walked up to the wall, where the aerial view shots of the mountains were, and he pointed at a certain location as he said, "This thing, it has plain on three sides, anyone who approaches would be visible with ease from north, west and east. Leaving us with just the southern side, which is practically a rugged wall. Any suggestions on how to approach this situation?"
One guy raised his hand, Leo nodded and said, "Go ahead Trip."
Trip sighed and said, "We can try to move one unit at a time and find the natural cover to move ahead?"
Markus shook his head and said, "Not possible. The enemy has several drones to monitor the situation. The saturated gunfire will leave your souls with holes."
The people smiled wryly, their boss never minced his words. A lady said, "How about we tread the wall?"
Everyone looked at her, and then Leo said, "I agree with Red Sparrow. We can indeed climb the wall and reach the peak. However, that would take several days, minimum three days, because if we try to climb it in one go, the energy reserves would not hold up."
The people frowned as they knew, that even if they managed to climb the peak, they would have no energy to fight or to defend themselves. It wasn’t like the enemy didn’t think about this.
Markus then asked, "Sir, what do you have in mind?"
Leo looked at him and replied, "I can climb this wall in twenty four hours. I can handle these guys as well, but I would need a strong distraction from the side, so that they don’t come over to check the wall."
The operatives were surprised, but they heard about his skills and prowess, so they knew that he was certainly capable of it. However, it still sounded a bit too much for them. Leo continued, "It is unrealistic and too straining even on me. So, we will use this."
He picked up a highlighter pen and drew a line on the photo. The people were surprised and Leo said, "Two thousand ago, there used to be a volcano on the so called Lion’s head mountain. Then it erupted and the lava ducts turned dormant. However, the crater opening was small, and it erupted from the side where it had a slightly thinner wall.
Kinda bizarre but it is what it is. The eruption left behind a network of tunnels inside the mountains and one of them leads up to crater which allows ten men to pass through it. That opening is just seventy meters below the peak and is located on the southern wall. We can move through the tunnels and climb it from the inside. What do you say?"
Markus was the first to reply, "Do we have the data for the tunnels? How can we move through them without having a proper understanding."
Leo sighed and replied, "For that, I need a scout. I have no technological ability to get you guys the data we need."
Red Sparrow said, "I can do that, I have experience for operating in tropical caves."
Leo shook his head and replied, "It would have to be a team, how do you think the snow lions survive in this cold land? They use the caves to hide from the cold winds. They might be small in population but they are very apt at fighting."
The people realized they were overlooking something. A burly man raised his hand and asked, "Sir, we can tranq these guys and move on. A team of three would be fine, and if we use the night vision, we would be fine."
Leo nodded and said, "Then who would take the lead on this?"
All the people raised their hands and Leo shook his head as he said, "Markus, assign the task, and then move the gear and everyone to set up a base camp at the foot of Lion’s tail."
That was where the cave entrance was located. The people took a deep breath and nodded, they moved quickly and began to wrap up everything. They had prepared for everything, dry rations, portable heating stoves, anti avalanche tents and sleeping bags. They also had three sniper rifles and assault rifles. All of them were suppressed.
Leo understood that it must have been Markus who called the shots on this. Then he turned to look at look outside the window before he picked up his phone and called home.
...
Snow was getting out of bed, when her phone vibrated. He picked up the call and asked, "Yes."
Leo sighed and said, "Can you not be so angry with me?"
Snow sighed and replied, "Not that I want to, but you really outdid yourself this time. What the heck were you even thinking?"
Leo had no reply to this, he wanted to fucking beat the god of fate. After a few moments of silence, Snow asked, "How is everything?"
Leo then reported the situation to her, and Snow replied, "Fine, take care. Make sure you don’t underestimate her. If you can think of this way, so can she."
The young man agreed and then asked about Lily, turns out the little girl was worried about him but was putting up a strong facade. Leo sighed and promised to call her when he reached the mountains and show her the scenery.
...
Markus came over to him and said, "Sir, we are all set to move."
Leo nodded and then they all got in three SUVs and headed to the mountains. They were riding white cars, to make them less visible in the snowy lands.
