Chapter 811 My Destined Mate and My Bottom Line

    bHayley’s /bPOV:

Truman ducked just in time. The needle barely missed him, slicing through the air past his car. bOnce /bbthe /bdanger passed, he straightened up slowly, cing a dramatic hand on his chest. “Are you trying bto blind /bbme/bb? /b

“If I weren’t an Alpha with these quick reflexes, you’d be stuck making love with a blind man foreverb. /b

You deserve it!” I snapped, irritated by his shameless joking.

I sneered, “Maybe going blind would finally stop you from staring at things that aren’t yours.

“I’ve told you before–push me too far, and you’ll regret it. Benjamin is mine. If you dare touch himb, /beven bif /byou’re an Alpha King, I’ll make you suffer!”

Benjamin was my destined mate and my bottom line.

I didn’t want to waste another second there. I snatched my bag and stormed out of the room.

To steer clear of the guests, I let Hera out. I guided her toward a quiet spot in the garden, let her stretch bher /blegs and run free for a bit, then finally headed back home.

Once I got there, I meant to check in on Grandma. But right before I walked inside, a thought hit me, and I spun around and made my way to Benjamin’s house instead.

When I arrived, the first person I spotted was Zayd, standing right outside Benjamin’s front door.

Our eyes met near the gate.

Zayd stood as rigid as ever. His face was unreadable.

If Hera hadn’t told me he was a powerful Beta–one of the elite–I would’ve thought he was just a quiet, nerdy guy who spent too much time reading.

I’d known for a while that he came from Truman’s Grimmoon Pack. Normally, I wouldn’t care. But with Truman getting involved in Benjamin’s life, I had to pay attention.

“Does Benjamin know you’re tied to Truman?” I gave him a hard stare as I asked.

Zayd didn’t respond. Not a word.

    “So that’s a no.”

I told him straight up, “I have no clue why you’re pretending to be someone else and staying close to him, but he believes in you, so don’t mess that up. Don’t even try to betray him. If you do, I promise you’ll regret it.”

He looked down and kept quiet. I was about to say more when Hera suddenly stirred within meb, /bme thrilled and energized than she had been in a long while.

I turned just in time to see a sleek ck van roll up. The door opened slowly, and Benjamin bstepped /bbout/b.

“What are you two chatting about?” he asked with a soft smile, leaning in to kiss me lightly.

“Oh, just asking Zayd some stuff about back home,” I replied, smiling like it was no bbig /bbdeal/b.

    bBenjamin /bnodded, bnot /bbeven /ba little suspicious. bHe /breached for my hand. “Come bon/bb, /bblet’s /bbgo /bbin/bb. /b

bHe /bled me inside, fingersced with mine.

bZayd /bmoved like he was about to follow us in, but I stopped and said, “You stay out hereb. /bDon’t blet /bbanyone /b

    belse /bin.”

His foot had just crossed the doorway, but he pulled it back and quietly turned to face the bstreet/b, bstanding /bguard at the door like the other wolf warriors.

Benjamin nced at me. “Did Zayd make you angry again?”

“No,” I answered tly and gently tugged him toward the bedroom.

“He’s not exactly great with people. If you’re notfortable around him, I can get someone belse /bbto /bbkeep /bwatch,” Benjamin offered, testing the waters.

We were already inside at that point.

I let go of his hand, shut the door, looked at him for a moment, and then hugged him tight.
