TRUE 19
I looked up bat /bhim, bmy /bgaze bcarrying /ba hint of confusionb: /bb“/bbWhat/bb?/bb” /b
The man standing before me was tall and leanb, /bhis muscr lines hidden beneath a well–tailored ck coat, emanating a natural sense of oppression.
bFerris /bhad obviously misunderstood something. He bspoke /bin a low voice: “Are you still angry? Unwilling to give me the gift?b” /b
bHis /bbvoice /bcarried its usualzy huskiness, but now he deliberately slowed his tone, as bif /bcoaxing an injured little beastb: /bb“/bMy tone wasn’t good at the store–that was my fault. Don’t be angry anymoreb, /bokay?”
I sighed and looked up into those bdeep /bbeyes/bb, /bmy tone seriousb: /bb“/bI’m not angry.”
Ferris scoffed, a hint of mockery shing in his eyes: “You bsay /bone thing but mean another.b” /b
“Think bwhatever /byou want.” My tone was calm as water.
This made him lose patience instantly. His brow furrowed sharply, his voice cooling several degrees: b“/bAurora, bI’ve /balready lowered my head. What more do you want?b” /b
While organizing the documents on the table, I responded coldly: “I don’t need your apology.”
Ferris stared at me for several seconds, suppressed anger in his eyes, looking exactly like an enraged wolf.
He paused, his Adam’s apple bobbing twice, his tone unnaturally asking: “Where’s the gift?”
I turned my head: “What gift?”
“Ethan said he saw you buy a watch.” Ferris’s tone changed slightly, suppressing his anger: “Weren’t you trying to appease me by…”
Just as I was about to interrupt him, he continued frowning: “Enough, Aurora. If you keep this up, it won’t be interesting anymore.”
Upon hearing this, I suddenlyughed.
Ferris’s expression turned cold: “What are youughing at?”
‘What you said is too funny.” I looked up at him, his pupils reflecting my image.
I did buy a watch, but it wasn’t for you.”
‘Not for me?” Ferris’s face turned deathly pale in an instant, the anger in his eyes almost uncontainable: “Then who did you buy it for?”
My expression remained indifferent: “You have no right to know.”
Ferris’s patience snapped instantly. He stepped forward aggressively, his pupils shing dangerously: “I’m your Alpha! You’re buying gifts for other men, and I
can’t ask?”
b[ /bremainedposed, only adding a hint of sarcasm to my tone: “Didn’t you just say that we’re not mates, just acting, and that I shouldn’t covet things that don’t belong to meb?/bb” /b
bThe /bbair /bfell into an eerie bsilence/bb. /b
bI /bcontinued coldly: “I heard your apology, but I don’t ept it. Also, the gift indeed wasn’t for you.”
Ferris’s bface /bdarkened enough to drip ink, his voice suddenly rising several octaves: “Then who is it forb?/bb” /b
I spoke calmly: “My mateb./bb” /bbJust /bthe next one.
“Ha.” Heughed lowly, but his smile was sharp as a deb: /bb“/bYou’re breally /bgetting bolder with your bwords/bb./bb” /b
A sh of annoyance and disdain crossed his eyes: “So you’re trying to tell me that unless I truly ept you as my mate and officially mark you, I don’t even
deserve a watch, is that it?”
I frowned slightly. Where did this man get such inexplicable confidence?
Just how much did he think I couldn’t live without him?
Ferris’s anger transformed into suffocating coldness. He shook his head, stepping back: “I thought you weren’t a greedy woman. I really… overestimated you
