Chapter b256 /b

My hands felt like they had just been taken out of a freezer – painfully cold – yet they unconsciously pressed against Ferris’s chest.

He paused in his steps, neither avoiding nor making a sound.

But I clearly felt his body suddenly tense up.

Even though I was freezing, he seemed to ignite like fire, his whole body appearing to burn up, even his chest rising and falling more rapidly.

My other hand had nowhere to go and identally brushed against his face – burning hot.

I was startled, my fingers instinctively stopping as I murmured quietly: “Ferris… you have a

fever.”

No matter how heavy the wind and snow, it shouldn’t cause such a fever. I . nediately

panicked.

His face was really burning, as if scorched by fire. Only then did I realize how long he had been standing in the snow waiting for me.

Ferris’s thin lips pressed into a straight line, his voice hoarse beyond recognition: “What I

saidst night still stands.”

I watched his lips move but couldn’t hear a single word clearly, so I could only respond

vaguely: “Mm… mm.”

He seemed more determined by my “agreement” and his pace quickened considerably.

We finally reached home.

As soon as the door opened, Mary rushed forward, her face full of surprise: “Why are youing back sote? The wind and snow outside are so heavy!”

Ferris said nothing, taking the towel from her hands and gently wiping the umted snow from my body, his movements so tender as if afraid I might melt.

My body was stiff from cold, even my shoulders barely movable. I could only force a smile tofort her: “Mary, don’t worry. My car broke down and dyed me… you should rest

early.”

I didn’t tell her I couldn’t hear, afraid of worrying her and causing unnecessary panic.

Mary nodded: “Then take a hot bathter to warm up. I’ll go make you some ginger tea.”

She turned toward the kitchen, while Ferris helped me toward the room, seeming to finally

He sat me on the sofa and casually took some clean clothes from the closet to hand to me.

“I’ll run you a hot bath. Take a shower and change into these.” He spoke quietly, moving

quickly.

Reading his lip movements, I thought he wanted me to change clothes, so Idded: “Okay, you should change clothes too, don’t catch cold.”

He hummed in response, took a bathrobe, and walked straight into the bathroom in my

room.

I couldn’t hear the water running, so I could only lean against the sofa and slowly change clothes. The whole house had central heating and was very warm, but my heart was still

cold, like thin snow floating inside, unable to settle.

Just as I finished changing and hadn’t fully recovered, I was enveloped by a familiar scent.

Ferris hade out, wrapped in a towel, his whole body carrying water vapor. He

suddenly leaned over and scooped me up entirely.

“What are you doing?” I was startled, instinctively grabbing his arm – solid and strong, making me instantly more alert.

“The hot water is ready, taking you for a bath.” His voice was deep, but I still couldn’t hear

clearly.

“Put me down, I’ll go myself.” I frowned, struggling to speak.

He ignored me, just held me tighter.

I panicked: “Ferris, put me down, go away!”

But he suddenly chuckled softly, murmuring: “When we came back, didn’t you say you

wanted this?b” /b

My heart tightened, stunned for a moment-

This man had no idea I couldn’t hear. He thought…

His hand suddenly fell near my ear, touching the hearing aid I was wearing.

He stopped, his fingertips gently touching it twice: “What are you wearir

My face flushed red, anger instantly surging. I raised my hand sharply and pped him across the face with a crisp “smack.”

The sound was sharp, my palm trembling.

“I can’t hear!” I said through gritted teeth angrily, “You better not provoke me!”

He said nothing, just stood there stiffly, the red mark on his face particrly ring.

Just then, there was knocking at the door.

“Aurora, what’s wrong?” It was Mary’s voice,

Only then did Ferris put on a bathrobe and open the door.

Mary at the doorway looked livid, her eyes wishing she could cut him to pieces: “What did you do to her?”

I rushed out of the room: “Mary! I’m fine!”

But Mary was obviously too agitated. Before she could finish speaking, she suddenly staggered, clutching her chest, and copsed to the side.

“Mary!” I was horrified and rushed forward to support her.

She was breathing heavily, sweat beading on her forehead.

Less than half an hourter, Simon arrived with a doctor through the blizzard.

After taking medicine, I leaned by the window, finally feeling my body warm up, blood circting, and my hearing slowly returning.

Only then did I hear Ferris’s exnation when the doctor questioned him, hearing him standing at the doorway, his lowered voice saying:

“I misunderstood her… she didn’t mean that. It was me… I was too hasty.”
