bChapter /bb54 /b

No one responded.

Ferris called bout /bseveral more timesb: /bb“/bAurorab? /bAurora-b” /b

The air was as silent as bsettled /bdust. He suddenly opened his beyes /band sat up from the bbed/bb, /bbcold /bsweat beading on his foreheadb, /bhis gaze momentarily confused.

bAs /bconsciousness quickly returnedb, /bhe rememberedb–/bshe had been throwing a tantrum recently and had run away from home.

His chest felt stuffy, as if something had been hollowed out, and his stomach began to cramp.

He clutched his stomach and bgot /bbout /bof bed, searching the house for medicineb, /bturning bevery /bcorner upside downb, /bbut still found nothing.

The huge vi now had only him alone. He had never liked being served and was always used to being independent, so housework had always been Aurora’s personal responsibility, with only Mary asionally helping out.

Ferris gritted his bteeth /band took out his phone bto /bcall Mary. After a long while, someone finally answered.

b‘/bAlpha Ferrisb, /bbit’s /b3 AM… What do you need me to do?”

His voice was low and hoarseb: /b“Where are the medicines kept?”

The medicine box is in Luna Aurora’s room, in the firstyer of that cab.”

Ferris hung up the phone, opened Aurora’s bedroom door, and slowly walked to the cab while supporting himself against the wall. He pulled open the Irawer and indeed found a medicine box with several types of medicine inside.

His stomach pain was like knife cuts. He raised his hand to frantically search through the medicine boxes, roughly reading a few lines of instructions, finally

pening one bottle and swallowing two pills.

bAt /bleast it won’t kill him, heughed coldly under his breath, as if mocking himself.

n the past, when his stomach problems red up, Aurora would personally feed him medicine. She was a doctor and very knowledgeable about these things.

But now that woman who had silently cared for him was angry and had left.

The medicine gradually took effect. Ferris leaned against the headboard and unknowingly fell asleep.

When he woke up again, it was already noon.

he familiar sound of cleaning came from the house–Mary had arrived. She walked into the bedroom and immediately saw his pale face and furrowed brows, tartling her.

Alpha Ferris, you… don’t look well.”

le rubbed his temples, his voice low: “Make me a bowl of stomach–nourishing porridge.”

Mary hesitated, “You mean… the kind that Luna Aurora often made?”

Mm.”

She quickly shook her head: “bI /bcan’t.”

Ferris frowned, his gaze turning cold: “Why not?”

Mary smiled bitterly: “That porridge requires soaking medicinal herbs the night before, and the heat control and seasoning are all very particr… I know the ingredients, but I don’t know how to make it. That was specially prepared by Luna Aurora for you–she didn’t tell anyone else.”

Ferris bwas /bsilent for a moment, his thin lips pressed tight, his eyes faintly showing fatigue.

“Then just make something simple.”

Yes, Alpha Mary nodded and withdrew.

He sat leaning against the bed, his temples throbbing faintly. He closed his eyes and gently rubbed his temples, lookingpletely drained of energy.

Just then-

“Knock knock knock.b” /b

A crisp, forceful knocking came from outside the door.

Ferris’s eyes snapped open, and a long–absent joy suddenly surged from his chest.

Was it her?

Had Aurorae back to find him?

He knew she wouldn’t just abandon him like this!

Ferris sat up straighter, fixed his disheveled hair, then looked toward the door and said in a low voice:

“Come in.”
