CHAPTER 116: 116-SAW THEM IN BED TOGETHER

Iris:

When Lara called for him, he got up to follow her. Of course he would.

She was his soon-to-be bride. In a few days, they were going to get engaged, and then they would plan the wedding, at least that was what I knew for now.

Watching him walk behind her, I stood to leave.

However, I had only taken a few steps when I realized the drinks had caught up to me faster than I expected.

Even though I had only taken a few sips earlier, everything from the day had drained me, and everything from the day before had already left me with no strength.

Instead of going home, I went into one of the rooms that had been booked for me and the other colleagues.

My head felt heavy, and I needed to sit down and rest for a few minutes.

I entered the room, locked the door, and sat on the bed, thinking that after a few minutes I would feel better and then be able to go home.

However, those few minutes turned into hours. I realized I had fallen asleep on the soft bed.

I woke up early in the morning, far too early, to the sound of my phone ringing beside me.

I gasped in fear when I sat up and realized I was not at home, but still in the hotel.

Slapping my forehead, I checked the screen and saw that my mother was calling.

Of course she was. I noticed she had called and texted throughout the night, asking where I was.

Some of the texts were even threatening, saying that if I dared sleep with him, she would do something reckless.

Her words scared me.

I quickly answered the call to tell her I had not done anything.

"Where the heck have you been?" my mother yelled the moment she answered.

She did not even ask if I was fine.

She never did. She should have known I would never do something reckless, but expecting concern from her was foolish.

Only a real mother would ask if her child was safe, not someone like her.

"We had a few celebratory drinks, and I fell asleep in the hotel room," I explained while rubbing my eyes. "Alone," I added quickly, knowing she would start imagining her own stories.

"Where is Kash?" she asked anxiously.

"How would I know, Mother? He must be with Lara. Last night he went into her room with her," I replied. It was difficult for me every time she asked about the two of them, as if discussing them together did not hurt.

"Are you sure you did not do anything stupid?" she questioned again.

"Mother, I did not," I hissed in annoyance.

She let out a deep sigh, so loud I could hear it clearly through the phone.

"Well, good. I called you to tell you something. Since you are already at the hotel, I think you will be able to speak with Kash easier," my mother stated.

I rolled my eyes. A few hours out of the mansion, and she was already trying to control my life again, filling me with stress.

"What do you want me to do now?" I asked.

"Do you want me to talk to him about the Blue River? I spoke with him last night. He said he will not stop," I continued, but my mother shushed me.

"No. I want you to go and tell him that his son had another fit last night."

As soon as she said that, the phone almost slipped out of my hand.

Before I could pull it away to check the camera, she added,

"Well, there was not any."

I frowned.

"You want me to lie to him?" I asked.

"Yeah, I want you to lie to him so he can see that the herb is not working, so he can take the blue water seriously again," she replied swiftly.

I began shaking my head, but at this point, I decided to speak with him and then go home.

"Did you know they are getting married this month?" my mother stated.

As soon as she said that, my grip tightened around the phone.

"Really? I thought they were getting engaged," I replied, trying to keep my tone neutral.

"Yeah, well, now they are deciding to get married. So go ahead and speak with him about the Blue River water," she finished.

But I was stunned. The guilt I felt for that small, intimate moment between me and Kash after I stole the box disappeared.

To be honest, I had not been trying to seduce him that night.

I had fallen into the trap of his seduction. Into the trap of his love too.

That was why I made out with him, not because I was carefully trying to get the box.

I could not control myself that night, but I guessed it did not matter now.

I was glad he thought I used him.

At least it stopped me from looking like someone desperate, waiting for a chance to fall back in love with him.

"Fine, I will do it," I hesitated, hissing the words. "If you cut the call, I will go and speak with him."

I did not wait for her to respond. I hung up.

After I gathered myself and washed my face, I put my sandals on again and decided to go speak with Kash.

I also texted my driver to arrive. I planned to head home the minute I was done talking to him. I was already missing my children.

I started to walk down the hallway, moving slowly through the corridor.

His room was farther down. When I approached it, I noticed the door was slightly open. Maybe they had already woken up and left.

I hoped not. I rushed toward it and pushed it open to check if they were still inside.

I did not expect the sight that met me. My heart began to pound loudly in my chest.

Heat rushed to my temples, pressing hard.

I stepped inside and saw the mess scattered around the bed. More specifically, the clothes. Not only Kash’s clothes, but Lara’s as well.

"Kash?" I whispered, my voice weak.

There they were on the bed, Kash and Lara tangled together under the blanket, their bodies close, her lying across his chest as if she had fallen asleep on him.

They looked peaceful. Too peaceful.

And I could tell they had a rough night together.
