CHAPTER 88: 88-WE ARE CHEATERS

Kash:

The way Luca smirked when Scarlett confirmed that they had never even flirted was so angering to me.

But we were not done yet. They wanted to play a game, so fine.

Lara told us to do it again, and I spun the bottle this time.

The bottle landed on Lara. As per the rules, whoever spun the bottle would question the one it landed on.

"Truth or dare?" I asked Lara.

She smiled comfortably because she knew it was me.

"Truth," she replied.

I bet the others wanted me to ask her something juicy, but I would not embarrass her.

The game was not about us. The game was about the couple sitting across from us.

"Do you love me, truly?" I asked.

I could tell that Iris and Luca scoffed because they thought it was too easy.

However, Lara reached out to my hand, holding it and giving it a firm squeeze.

"Of course, more than anything in the world," she told me.

Iris went ahead and grabbed the bottle.

We were now on the ground, slightly to the side of the fire.

She spun the bottle and it landed on Luca.

"Truth or dare?" she asked him.

He seemed a little low in energy ever since coming out of the cave, and I wanted Iris to see that there was a difference between him and me.

Just an hour or two alone in the cave, and he was already exhausted.

Or maybe I was just being jealous.

"Truth," Luca replied.

"Why did you go into the cave and risk your life?" Iris questioned.

It did not feel intriguing to us because we knew he was going to say it was for her, the same old thing.

But the way he lifted his eyes and looked at her gave me goosebumps.

"For you." That was all he told her.

Then Iris reacted a little too intently and aggressively to his response.

She almost yelped in confusion. Why would she do that? Were they not dating already?

Lara snatched the bottle from the middle and spun it. This time it landed on Iris.

I noticed how Iris stared at Lara. There seemed to be a lot of tension between them.

"As if there is none between you and Luca," my wolf retorted, mocking me for thinking the two were clashing when there were clear differences between me and Luca as well.

"Truth or dare?" Lara asked, clicking her tongue.

I played with the grass, looking down but sneaking glances upward.

Under the moonlight, Iris’s green eyes were shining beautifully.

She had a lovely collarbone that I used to kiss when we were married back then, and it was visible as she sat with her shoulder raised.

It was so visible that I was getting a little hard in my shorts for her.

Her beautiful black hair was spread over her face, her back, and her neck.

She gave a quick flick to her hair and then responded.

"Truth."

Of course she was no fool to pick dare when Lara was questioning her.

"Do you still love your ex?" Lara wondered.

I did not expect her to ask that, and it came as a surprise. It seemed like Iris felt offended.

"Come on, answer me. I mean, only if you think it is not going to ruin your relationship," Lara mocked while I was now watching Iris intently.

Was she that afraid to confess in front of Luca that she still had feelings for me?

I began to ponder how long she would take before giving an answer.

I also wondered if Luca would react aggressively and probably leave for bed.

However, my hopes drowned when, in a very confident tone, Iris shrugged.

"Nope, I have moved on."

The way she said it, with no ounce of care or thought behind it, made me clench my jaw. She defeated me.

"Wow, really?" Lara questioned, probably too shocked too.

"Well, now you know. My baby is only in love with me."

Luca was quick to notice the situation, wrap his arm around her, and pull her from her tiny waist. It angered me so much. So much.

The fact that she said it in front of her man, that she had moved on, truly upset me.

I lowered my head and nodded to myself, taking note of it.

"My turn now," Luca remarked, snatching the bottle and spinning it. It landed on Lara this time.

Lara was quick to pick truth even before she was given an option.

"Why did you and Kash break up the first time?" Luca asked, and I could tell Lara did not expect it.

It was her turn to look offended.

The way Luca gave Iris a smirk looked like he was letting her know he had embarrassed Lara because she tried to embarrass Iris.

So this was what he was doing, acting like her hero and making decisions for her.

I clenched my knuckles so hard that they cracked, and everybody’s attention briefly shifted to me. I played it off by pulling at the grass again.

"Well, there were some issues," Lara murmured under her breath.

"She cheated on me. Say it, come on." I spoke up, and Lara gasped visibly.

I wanted her to give a quick response so the game could move on. I wanted to be the one to spin the bottle this time.

I had already grabbed it.

"Oh, you cheated on Kash?" Luca questioned Lara, whose neck was turned toward me.

I could see it from the corner of my eye. I did not even have to lift my head or turn it.

I just knew she was watching me.

"It was a mistake," Lara stated, taking heavy and deep breaths.

"How is cheating a mistake?" Iris questioned, and I looked up at her.

"I think cheaters are horrible people. They are only thinking about themselves in the moment," Iris stated, and it felt like a personal comment at me rather than at Lara.

"I’m not horrible. I said it was just a mistake. I was drunk, and there was a guy in the club, and it just happened. During one Halloween party," she explained, then gestured for me to spin the bottle.

Her mood was already soured, but she had no idea I was going to target the couple.

Thankfully, the minute I spun the bottle, it landed on Luca and it was time for me to ruin their relationship.
