CHAPTER 92: 92-HE SOLD ME FOR A PACK

Iris:

Everything just felt like a mess. Even with such good news about finding a cure for Colin, Luca had ruined it.

These men, their egos were enormous. And then there was Lara, she wasn’t any better. She had been playing a game.

I felt bad for Scarlett too. She got stuck in the middle of it. Imagine if it had been her first kiss and it was part of a dare. I wished she had just said no.

But no, I wasn’t jealous. I really did not have any feelings for Luca.

Temporarily, I had felt grateful when he got the cure for my son and with the way he had been behaving.

But that only lasted half a day before he acted on his plan and made me realize he had been nice only to get Kash to agree to give him a pack.

The next day, when we woke up, we were all pretty bummed. Probably also because we had drinks the night before.

Colin ran to hug Kash’s legs. Whenever he did that, Kash smiled brightly at him.

"Are we going home, daddy?" Colin urged.

"Yeah, unfortunately, the vacation is over. But don’t worry, we’ll plan more of that," Kash said, unaware that once my kid was healed, I would be leaving.

I thought in my head what would happen when Kash would find out I have run away yet again?

It will be a disaster. I will need to hide well this time.

"We will miss this," Amy uttered, looking at me, probably trying to convince me to stay a little longer.

Of course, I wouldn’t. Then it was just time for us to pack our bags and leave. All the bags were packed.

"Iris, may I have a word?" Kash asked, just as everyone else had stepped into their cars and it was just me.

I noticed Luca instantly trying to remove his belt to get out and hear us, but before he could, I began walking away with Kash.

Even Lara was staring at us with a frown. Maybe he hadn’t told her he was coming over to talk to me.

"What is it about?" I asked, keeping my tone natural and neutral.

"About what happened last night," he started.

I began to gesture with my hand because it seemed like I had figured out what he was going to talk about.

"Don’t worry, nobody will question you for not giving him a pack. It was just a stupid game. We shouldn’t have taken it so seriously in the first place," I replied.

But the way he wagged his finger, I realized there was something else he wanted to say.

"No, that I agreed upon. And I don’t step back from my words," he said.

As soon as he said that, I raised my eyebrows.

"You seriously aren’t thinking about giving him a pack? Kash, he was just messing around. He always does that."

Of course, I could not outright call Luca an asshole. I had to somehow let Kash know he shouldn’t give him a pack.

I wouldn’t want Luca to get a pack using me.

"I’m not here to talk about it," he said.

However, Kash being Kash, shut me down on that topic.

"I was talking about the way you two kissed," he continued.

I frowned even harder, wondering what he could have to say about that.

"Why? Do you think we did it wrong? Do you want to teach us the right way?" I asked.

As soon as I said that, I noticed his face harden.

"Then what is it?" I questioned.

"You shouldn’t..." He paused, scratching the tip of his nose and acting very awkward.

He looked extremely uncomfortable.

"I shouldn’t what?" I asked, watching him swallow hard.

"Is it because you want to show me that you’re happy? Because if so, you don’t have to," he said, making my head spin.

"What?" I asked.

"No, nothing I do is for you, Kash. So don’t worry," I said, trying to walk away, but he stepped in my path again.

"Did you mean it when you said you’re over me?" he demanded, his hands in his parents’ pockets.

"You’re getting married, Kash. I don’t think you should be asking me that," I replied, sidestepping and walking away.

Once I got in the car, I noticed that Kash had not moved for a few minutes before he finally began to walk away.

The rest of the car ride passed in silence. Not a single word from anyone, except the kids, who chatted here and there.

When we arrived at the mansion, Kash’s car was parked in front, so they must have come earlier. I had some things to discuss.

The minute we stepped inside, I saw my mother standing in the doorway, waiting for us.

"How was the trip? Did you get the cure?" my mother asked.

The kids had already started dancing around the living room, stretching and taking their toys out of their bags.

"Actually, we got quite a lot more than just that," I said.

As soon as I said that, my mother’s eyes wandered upward.

"What is going on? Can anyone tell me? Did you mess up?" my mother asked immediately, looking worried.

"Ask your trusted man. I was going by the books, but I don’t know what he was doing," I replied, noticing Luca staring at me before he began to walk away.

For the first time, he wasn’t smirking or making snarky remarks.

He looked done, or exhausted, or whatever he was trying to convey.

My mother’s eyes urged me to explain before he left.

"Well, your trusted man has bagged himself a pack."

As soon as I said that, my mother’s eyes widened with confusion, shock, and disbelief.

"Yes, he told Kash to give him a pack, and Kash agreed. He’s going to be an alpha," I continued.

That seemed to be all she needed. My mother finally realized what had gone wrong, and her jaw clenched immediately.
